  1. haha... I got the pic off of the web. Just do a google image search.
  2. hmm. Time for another megasquirt and another Holset and more big injectors.. You are soo lucky Phil!!!
  3. AHHHH!!! I didn't know that was possible!!!
  4. Thanks for the clarification Dan... Dan/OTM
  5. Yes but if you want to see a little more grunt in over a weekend for a head swap then it may be worth it... I would not want to do a whole motor rebuild just to have a little more fun... An L24 is still a lot of fun guys...so is my L26...Just for until my turbo motor gets built...
  6. I used to be at Zdriver... then they started getting like most ricer forums... HYBRIDZ RULES!
  7. It wouldn't be that hard to raise compression in an L24... First off what cylinder head do you have on your L24? The type is cast into the lower edge right next to the block right below where the mechanical fuel pump is and a bit behind. If you have an E88 then you want to change heads to raise compression. Second is to see if you have notches cut out in the tops of the cylinder bores for the larger valves. I thought that all 240s had uncut bores but I pulled an L24 apart the other day and it had cutouts for the larger valves. If that is the case then you can get the L6 early maxima gas head. It will bolt straight on and is about 6ccs smaller than your stock E88. If you have an E31 head or have uncut bores then you that swap won't do much for you. I think you could use the NISMO .6mm head gasket to increase compression but you also have to buy their special pully. Just some ideas... OR... you could turbo your L24... That has been done before.
  8. Did the forum get more expensive to upkeep?
  9. Like the tite says... We didn't used to have ads on here.
  10. Well what I'd do is go to a junkyard and find a 2.8 liter block with flat-top pistons for $80 or whatever. That wil get you the biggest boost in available power. Then get your big cam and put it in there. That should be a fun DD. If you can just get the "C" camshaft out of a 260Z and use that. It is the biggest cam that was ever put into a production S30 series Z. I swapped out mine for a smaller cam and it is a noticeable how much less power I have.
  11. Check "Zhome.com" for good info about the VIN. "S30" is what denotes it as a Z. "R" denotes it as a 260 I think "L" means it is a 2 seater. Not sure though. Then the last digits are the production number of the car. That is all there is to the VIN code. You usually can't find history on a car from before they moved to the 17 digit VIN numbers.
  12. My early 260 is RLS30-012743. I am guessing that your 260 is an early 260 (better) and has the 240Z style bumpers. That means when you start ordering suspension stuff get it for a 240Z because it has the smaller strut housings. The late 260Z has the 280Z suspension and strut housings. What is the production date? It should be near your drivers door latch mechanism.
  13. Silencers are illegal on anything that could be modified to fit a real gun...unless you paid the $200~ish fee for to have "THEM" check it and Okay it... Very cool Paul... I'll have to post my marshmallow gun...
  14. Why not put the ZXT head on your motor? It's not that hard to swap a head.. Maybe someone else knows about the block sensor.
  15. They both have a radio!!! that is awesome!!!
  16. Ah yes. I understand what you are saying about the whole package thing and that is a good point. Some racing Zs are just running an insanely huge rear wing and the front looks fairly simple. I was looking in the how to modify your Nissan/datsun engine book at page 3... Frank Honsowetz's Z. I am designed a similar front end and it came out looking almost identical. So say my Z is a total of 6" wider than stock with the lower body from the main side crease pushed straight out 3" each. The front end extended 6"-8" forward ending about 5"-7" lower than the stock hood. Also a minimal front opening for raditor/intercooler that is sealed properly etc... This should provide plenty of downforce for even a big GT style wing on the back. I'm not going for Big wing here. I want a good balance for the track. I'll scan a pic later for those that don't have the book.
  17. I think the best way to fight turbulance would be to have a completely tubular intake "header" after the TB. You could also make them equal length so you wouldn't have problems with unequal distribution...
  18. Alright I have been looking at Mikelly's wing and like it. I have a question: What is the ideal mounting height for such a wing? How does wing height effect the way it works? Obviously having a California wing from MSA is not going to do much. Mikelly's wing seems like a good height to work well but not be over the edge for a car that could be driven on the street. Some racing cars have cut up barn door size wings and they go stupid fast... The wing on this Z in the video is mounted really high! Wing width and section length also seems as if it would have an effect on downforce. What is a good option for our Zs? It also SEEMS the more rearward past the rear wheels you are the more of a lifting effect the wing is going to have on the front of the car as it pivots on the rear wheels. I'd like to see some discussion on this. Dan/OTM
  19. I want to someone do a 280ZX and put that huge monster of a spoiler on it...
  20. The problem is if you have big brakes filling up your wheels. my rear wheels have a lot of space with the drums in the back but I have some good sized brakes up front. Not huge by any means but they fill up the 13.3" bell in my 15"X8" wheels. I think you would have to count brakes as a big restriction to moving a lot of air up front. I think it may work on the rear wheels fairly well though. VERY interesting idea!!
  21. My local Junkyard has one of those. I pulled the L20B timing cover and valve cover... I have never seen an L series where the rocker was off of it's valve and had been hitting the other valve... LOL the cam, rocker and next spring retainer wereall beat up. The lash pad was down in the head... Phiz: Nice Truck!!!!
  22. Too bad this is only diecast models...I have a wicked plastic model coming along nicely...
