  1. looks sweet! maybe you should do your whole car in olive drab..
  2. Lancia used a remote wastegate in their Delta S4 for the group B rally days. This wastegate is ginormous for the lancia. (2 liter 4 banger I think?)
  3. I'd say wait until you have an intercooler and build a motor properly. 8.5:1 *may* work at stock boost but you better plan on an intercooler...
  4. Yep! mentioned it in the other rustoleum thread. It looks like a good thing to get...If you have the extra 5 bucks laying around(you probably don't if you want to paint your car with a roler) It is pretty much a condensed version of all the information from the internet. If you just spend the time reading what the original guy talked about on the moparts forum then you will get basically the same info. Still good to stand there and skim through!
  5. I just spent this morning at a muffler shop getting my exhaust remounted with a flange at the header. So now I have a driving video. It turned out that my SUs were way lean so I richened them up before said video. I could not get above around 3000 without it stumbling like crazy. I still need to richen the SUs up some more to make it really smooth. What is getting me is this backfire. It is loke a cannon goes off under decel. I think it is the same cylinder that is backfiring each time. You can see in my that I had the same backfire but on a lesser extent. It also puts out a big cloud of black smoke when it backfires so that tells me that there is unburnt fuel getting by somewhere. Makes me think something is up with my distributor. I have a dual pickup dizzy from a 280z (with a P79 head FWIW) from the junkyard (it was labeled as an 80zx?!?) You can see what a lightweight (11 Lb.) flywheel will do for being able to rev fast. Video:
  6. This is what I did a while ago. Posted on page 6... similar to this idea Daeron?
  7. Ron: Thanks! Max: I need guages for the smackdown! Hanson: Thanks! Bill: That is the plan
  8. I thought the atom used honda and dodge 4-bangers?
  9. Just set the idle to about 4k on your L6 and then twist it to about 10k... It will sound like that...for a little while.
  10. watch them all... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Sick!!!! It's odd to see a Z pull away from a viper (or whateverthat car is) on the straight-aways...
  12. EXCELLENT TIG welding!!! Looks great! Haven't seen any TIG welds that smooth since I left welding school! So what are you going to do for air cleaners? Just some screen to keep bugs out?
  13. notice: 13 crates... lol. I guess they got lucky...
  14. Niceguy: I was rolling that idea around in my head earlier today... I may do that. 78zlt1: There are a couple chip options. I'm thinking the PIC16F88 is what we will be using for this project. BobbyZ: Yes it is a big project but tiny in comparison to what the next unnamed project will be. My dad has been tinkering in this stuff for 15+ years so he knows all about designing circuitry and programming on his own sothiswill be easy stuff. I think he mostly does programming in "picbasic"
  15. I went to the store and looked at the article in HOT ROD where they talked about rustoleum painting the car. Definitely something to read over in the store or you can buy it if you have the extra money laying around...lol
  16. I'd say to pull the valve covers and paint them, clean up all the accessories, maybe new hoses in the engine bay, and just general cleanup. That would really dress things up a lot.
  17. I am going to draw up my guage face plates in solidworks or autocad and have them laser etched onto a piece of aluminum or maybe even stainless. The guages are going to be moved by special servos that I bought for this project.
  18. Yeah that door is beefy! My early 260 door is flimsy! it is pretty much an outer and inner skin with a bit of C channel made out of more of the thin body steel. I could probably kick the door to the inner skin with a couple of kicks. What if you cut a hole in the back end of a door and slide in a 1.5" tube and weld it on the front and back sides of the door frame with some steel plates on the end? (not to the body but in the door itself)
  19. Well I just typed up a huge thread and didn't copy it before I hit submit. It just vanished so here I go again. Here is a fairly current picture of my lightweight aluminum dashboard and temporary switch board. (notice lack of stock wiring) I am going to be making my own microprocessor controlled guages for my dashboard. They will have a sweep of 180 degrees and I can lay them out any I want on my dashboard. The face of the dash that I have to work with is 6" tall and goes 52" across IIRC with a weld seam vertically in the middle under the divider. I also have this fun little item from Japan to work with. It is a flourescent display that is 64 pixels high and 256 pixels wide. Aproximately 3.5-4" across. The display looks fuzzy but it is just so bright that the camera is blooming the picture. It is infact very crisp. Obviously I have played with it a bit and will use this screen as the boot-up screen for when it turns on. I'm trying to figure what guages I am going to work into it. Probably AFR eventually and maybe EGT. It will house my odometer I know. One option I have is to mount this display on the top of the dash with a piece of lexan angled back so that it can be used as a heads up display. This type of display has been used as a heads-up display in many cars. So what do y'all think?
  20. Your car looks like it is doing 120mph just sitting there!! Awesome work Scott!!! Dan
  21. looks awesome! if those would actually fit under there with the suspension in that would look killer! Get that header weded up! Awesome progress Hanson!
  22. I'd agree about those cars looking good. Just saw Roostmonkey's car up at Zdayz...looks great!
  23. I think Ron should build a car with our kind of budget... and our parts resources (limited)... LOL!
  24. there is only so much that stock pistons can take... Phil: I'd recommend that you lower the boost a little bit for regular driving and start finding parts to build a new bottom end. Then with the new bottom end built you can boost the poo out of your current block. There are a couple stroker cranks an other cool things near you if you want to go that route... I can find the exact locations if you want... I'm thinking...Big-"big power"-Phil will be your new name... I could see you up there with the other high HP guys in a year or less with a 2.9 or 3.0 bottom end.
