  1. Trust me this does'nt work. I tried it once when testing a friends little bro's cart; brakes went out and I hit a house at the bottom of a long hill. Ten stiches and one bruised ego later and I was just fine.
  2. Does it lean over on that side? Mine did when I used to take the really big security guard from work to the bank.
  3. Honestly I think I would pass on this kit. That rotor size is smaller than what you already have.
  4. That's sweet!! Way to go. By the way good joke on Mike! Hehehehe
  5. Lean or not it should still pull but, the 280ZX computer is very aggressive in pulling out timing if it even gets a hint of detonation. I had a similar setup at one time. It would do what your talking about at 11 psi. I added a RRFP and it soulved the proublem. Seemed like I could run 14 psi with any issues. I first thought I had a slipping clutch. Turned out it was the computer. I was pretty new at all this and was lucky the computer did what it does. I currently run no knock sensor (JWT w/ 85 computer) and have to always keep an ear on the sounds of the motor if I've running a little more boost than normal or testing a new tune etc.
  6. Sounds to me like the car is running lean (possible slight detionation) and the knock sensor is getting a signal. The computer pulls tons of timing out to save you from yourself.
  7. Long time no see...Alex So how big is that turbo?
  8. I can use a worn Chevy truck key to unlock my doors. Kinda weird but, works. Seems like there's always someone at work with one of these keys.
  9. Not sure it will help but, that's how I do it on my ZX.
  10. Grumpyvette has a great post here. Yes, there is some power to be had in the oil but, let's just say it's not in running the oil temp cooler than need be. Search the net in general and there is tons of information about oil temps and oil control.
  11. I had a '72 back when I was in High School. Lowered w', dark tinted windows and a boom'n system in the back. It was all the rage at my school. I once got it up to 97 mph out on a long streatch of highway. My Z feels better at 150 than the bug did at 80. Overall I loved the car but, just need something with more power and A/C.
  12. I considered the 300ZX caliper but, they are no bigger than the 280ZX calipers. Takes the same pad. Well the N/A 300ZX does and I believe the turbo does also.
  13. The 300zx rotor is 11.5" and the ZX rotor is 10" Is offset is almost the same but, not quite. I knew I should have writen all the measurements down. I've got some pics of everything on the car in the "Brakes" section of my website.
  14. This was the basic thinkning that I had when I got started with this project. I'm happy I did it all now that it's done. I think one day I'll buy another control arm and find another OE caliper that has larger pads and will hook up to our e-brake cable. So far the more I've used them the better the setup is working. My Porterfiels R4s pads for the front still haven't shown up so I'm still waiting for them to show for more real testing.
  15. Take a look at one of my pages on my site. http://www.angelfire.com/space/nismo1turbo/indexenginebuildup.html
  16. All my timing plates have been on the passenger side of the motor.
  17. Loved the way it sounded while gett'n on it coming out of the corners.
  18. Heres a project I've been working to compliment the Wilwoods for the front of my ZX. I've only put about 200 miles on this combo and alot of that was just tring to make sure nothing was going to fall off before I gave it some real testing. Seems like it works good nothing crazy but, certainly better than the stock setup but I think it needs better pads to balance it out better. Sorry the pics are so big
