  1. I read this a few times and I'm not real sure what the question is? Are you saying you did all this work and now want to add a turbo system to a motor that does not currently have it? Are you asking about the advise of your machinist? Are you asking if cast pistons can be used in a "power adder" type of motor combo? Sorry it's early maybe I just missed it?
  2. Well, said!! Also, if you get back the original budget of 500.00 then that changes lots of things back to either the Hobart or the Lincoln for similar prices and features. Really, I think good prep, (fit, finish, clean) techique, and taking your time will give you the best results no matter what welder you go with.
  3. This is a really cool project. Something way beyond what most guys could do. I've got one question though. Who's in the car driving it during the picture? Doesn't look to me like anyone is.
  4. Like I said earlier the Hobart worked perfectly on my ZX last weekend when I welded in a patch panel on the roof line area. I just used the factory settings with .025 wire and I had no proublems ar all. Ofcourse I took my time and only did small portions at a time until I got all the way around it.
  5. I recently purchased the Hobart 140 and love it. I had a cheap Harbor Frieght flux core welder and while it worked the welds looked like crap no matter what I did. This welder with the exact same wire that I pulled out of my old machine welded so much better and cleaner. The Hobart 140 comes with a regulator so all you'll need is a bottle w/ gas and some solid core wire. Works great. I welded in a patch panel on my ZX today and it worked perfectly. My mind is still used to my old welder with all the splatter so everytime I use the new setup I get all excited again because of the huge differnce in weld quailty and apperance.
  6. The only speed sensor I ever heard of is for the cruise control. I always was told it was in the speedo cluster. I never really botherd to look for it or identify it.
  7. I always thought it was based on RPM, load, and air flow
  8. Are you looking for a mostly bolt on type of upgrade? If so then the Toyota upgrade will not be for you on the ZX.
  9. Honestly I'm not real sure other than using some extra sealer or something like that. I think it would be hard to damage the bottom of the block but, I guess it could happen.
  10. Try some quality pads suchs as KVR, stainless lines and make sure the rotors are in spec. turn or replace as needed. Make sure to bleed the lines if you haven't in awhile.
  11. Do some more searching the answer is there.
  12. Any more details? Looks sweet.
  13. Certainly a nice addition to the stable. Please share once the mods are on.
  14. You'll proubly have to replace the shaft. The 1/4 trap speed was good. Practice you'll launch and you should get low 13's or maybe even 12's.
  15. I think this was discussed before a month or two back. Someone mentioned that the proublem with using a line lock was that the calipers were not designed to hold pressure for an extended period of time. Anyone have any experience with this?
