I've been using something like this for years. I have two ramps that I also use as chocks when not being used for the orginal purpase. They are basically 2x8's with one end cut at a 45* angle. I stack two together and at the end I added a little stop to help me from rolling over them if I get stupid.
Keep us informed! I've been toying with the new cam idea for awhile now and really want to know what others think of their setups before going through the cost and labour of it all.
Those are some really high prices. If you do some shopping around you can find it much cheaper than that. Ofcourse it helps to have connections in the parts dept.
Wow, that turned out nice. I know you've been at it for awhile but, it sure is nice. The engine postion looks like it will help with handling and such. Can you pull the head with the engine in the car?
Mike you might pull the front wheels off and see if the calipers are squaring themselves up when you hit the brakes.
Have someone apply pressure to the pedal as you watch the caliper. If the calipers move around in funny motion then the pads and rotors are not square. You could replace the rotors or do some driving and they will eventually mate up better than they are now. Not the best solution but, the cheapest and if it's not real bad won't cause to much of a proublem in the long run. You just don't get as many miles out of the pads.
In my experience the paint seems to hold well as long as you prep them right. The color does seem to fade if you use rim cleaner on them while washing the car. Not much but, after several applications it's just not the same anymore.
