  1. A more economical way would be to use the LD28 main bolts - they are 12.9 grade and are torqued to 60 ft-lbs. I think new ones are about $1.50 each at Nissan. You won't have any problems with the main caps using those. Doug
  2. Scott - Canadian Tire will have the hardlines in stock. Just ask them for the replacement brake lines that have metric flare fittings. They also have metric bubble flares for european cars - you don't want those. It is fairly obvious looking at the two different types, what you want is the standard flare. The line size is 3/16 as far as I can remember. I just ordered two sets of the brackets from Ross for some OZC cars. I got the calipers from Cardone through Canadian Tire also. They are pricey, at $100 each plus $70 core. Maybe you can find someone on the 240SX boards in TO that is parting out an S13. On a somewhat related note - are you running CV joints in your car yet? Do you want to buy a set of adapters - I have just done a run on 240 and 280 adapters for the Z31 CV shafts and have some in stock. PM me if you are interested. I just sold a set to the Boodoos for their 10 second 280.
  3. I'm still interested in getting a pair of them, as well as 25 or 26 heads to go along with them... No need for you to store them, I'm local... Doug
  4. Southwestern Ont - close to Waterloo
  5. Funny enough, USPS lost the first shipment of my 3 sets of clutch discs from Gary. He stepped up and resent the 8 remaining discs that he had and I got them today. That is the first time I have ever had a problem with USPS. From US to Canada, it is a good method of shipment, as Canada Post brokers it. Austin (240Hoke) sent me a pair of trans adapters via USPS in a shipment that had a tracking number - that is good as you are able to keep tabs on it. I would prefer to have mine manifold flanges sent USPS, with the ability to track the package. Thanks Doug
  6. Hi Justin I will take the two extra spots in the first production run. Please PM me the payment total for Paypal and shipping to N4W 3T5 Ontario Canada. Thanks Doug
  7. Do not waste your money on SS valves, etc from TEP. The stock Nissan turbo valves are just fine for 400 hp or more, and likely better quality than the stuff from TEP (Search HZ if you would like a second(and third..) opinion. If 400 is all you are going to do ever and your bores are in good shape, hone it and stick with the stock crank, 280 rods w/ARP bolts, and 86 mm forged flat-tops from any reputable company that will do around 8:1 compression with a P90 head and std head gasket. Use ARP head studs. Clevite 77 rod and main brgs, Nissan LD28 mains bolts (cheap - TQ is 60 ft-lbs). You can hit 400 on a stock turbo cam if you clean up the ports and unshroud the valves and have the supporting mods to match (some type of standalone EFI and timing control, efficient turbo, and fuel system). You are not going to have to rev it to make the power, it will be all done by 6200 rpm, so don't get in a sweat about high dollar valve train stuff. Stock Nissan springs will get it done or drop-in replacements from Crane, etc. The great thing about the L-series is that you will not be spending big dollars on machine shop work if you have a decent core. Make sure that you get the block and head surfaces machined to true them and let the shop know that the thing is being built for HP and the surface finish is important. Search out posts by Braap regarding cylinder head stuff. IF you are going to want in excess of 400 hp, things are different and a lot of this doesn't apply. It also gets really expensive - probably into not-worth-it territory considering the cost of other engine options for the Z. I am getting ready to drop a new 3.0 build in my car. I will be unhappy if it doesn't break 480 hp. It will be the last L-series that goes into my car. If I spent the same money on a RB2530 or a 2JZ, it would make a lot more HP. Cheers Doug
  8. If it is a turbo 5spd with LSD - it will have a 30A in it due to it being an 87-89. Yes - those transmissions are all the same model, with the Z31 unit being more desirable for S30 RB swaps because it still has a mechanical speedo drive. They all have slight differences, but the RB front housing fits them all.
  9. If it is a 5spd - the transmission is worth some money, they are identical internally to an RB25 transmission.
  10. I may be interested in a pair of RB30's. I'm local, so that should be easy. Doug
  11. 05plsrt-4 - Are you in London? Did you just sell off some L28et stuff recently? If so, the guy you sold them to would have no problem machining that crank for you. He does a lot of work for automotive machine shops that they can't do. Drop me a PM. Cheers Doug
  12. I've taken the diffs out of 3 Canadian 87 turbo cars. They all had finned covers and all were CLSD. FAST will give you a breakdown of the diff if you search by the VIN. You will likely find that it originally had a CLSD 3.7 and now has an open 3.54.
  13. Oil suction and pressure galleries have been plugged, must have been planning on a dry-sump setup.
  14. Bear in mind that it has 500KM on it. Doug
  15. Late Z31 (87-88) have a speed sensor that screws onto the mechanical speedo output on the transmission, they can be found pretty easily. I believe that Clive Eastwood is currently wrecking an 88 Turbo Z31. Doug
  16. Z31 cable mount will snap into the S30 firewall hole, I am using a Z31 cable on my car. Doug
  17. It looks like he is trapping around 124 mph. There are quite a few L28 cars here on the site that trap around there, including mine. I have no doubt that a slushbox and slicks would put me into the high tens. I have a dead stock hyd P90 head, stock intake and exhaust manifold. IMO - nothing too special there.
  18. Christmas in Baghdad 2002 - Al Rashid airbase. Sometimes it's not too warm or sunny in Iraq. I'm around 500 miles north of you, in Baku. Take care down there. Doug
  19. Nice Snag Rick! Does it have any heatshielding to prevent the battery, etc from being cooked? It looks awful close there. Was it a case of the PO spending on the big stuff and not working out the details? PM me if you are thinking of getting rid of the 280, I may be interested for a 2JZ swap of my own. I have been looking around for a nice 280 chassis. Cheers Doug
  20. John - I can't believe I missed this thread - I must be working too hard... Congrats on the great time and MPH. Nice RT BTW. Do you have a link for your calculator somewhere? Cheers Doug
  21. I'm still using a stock Nissan 5spd and I'm not particularly nice to it. I went through mine and replaced bearings before putting it in. The Nissan tranny will hold anything the stock T3 turbo will put out. Cheers Doug
  22. If you are running a stock L28ET with a 2MM HG, your compression ratio will be around 7:1. That may be why it is such a dog off-boost. Adding a performance cam may make that situation worse.
  23. A cheap way of beefing up the mains is to use LD28 main cap bolts, they are higher strength and are torqued to 60 ftlbs. They are cheap from Nissan like $25. Doug
  24. You won't have any significant pressure in the surge tank, because of the return line to the tank.
  25. I just picked up 3 Z32 trannys from Tiger, they seem to be trustable. I picked up in person and they have a warehouse full of engines. They are real expensive on the RB stuff because it is so popular with the f-n-f crowd. $2200 for a RB26 with unknown problems - please. The trannys are all nice and tight. looks like a good deal for $200 each.
