building turbo adapter...how should i do it?
bobbyc replied to bobbyc's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
k...what about the flange and the piece between...the round edges on the flange...should i really owrry about the piece in the middle there having the round edges to follow the flange or does that matter? -
my 2 flanges came in today...i'm gonna make a spacer for the hx35...now i just need to know how i should make it...i have a couple rough drawings...was wondering if one design would be better over the other here are the 2...if i do it straight..it's prob gonna hit the strut tower..round thing is the turbo

it has officially been over a year since the car has moved with me pressing the gas pedal, the motor is good to go...the rest of the body is not ready for the streets.

questions about this turbo adapter T3 to T3 spacer
bobbyc replied to bobbyc's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
that really helps...i was also thinkin for the wastegate i could just flip the spacer around and run it that way...so it's facing the firewall. i might just get it welded...sounds like the best idea. or if it is a major pita to get this to fit i can make my own with 2 T3 flanges and some metal...might be easier...but this info definately helps...thanks again! -
i'm gonna put a hx35w on my z...the housing hits the exhaust manifold so it's gonna need a spacer...and i've come across these...looks ideal because of the external wastegate flange. but i'm wondering if anyone has used one...and could tell me the overall length of this spacer and how far out it is gonna put the turbo...i e-mailed the seller and all they could tell me was that all they knew was in the auction. here's a pic and the link to the auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=250075217440 thanks

i saw that page in my search....made it to the cummins page http://www.holset.co.uk/files/2_1_1_3-Holset%20HX35.php my main concern is being totally unhappy...or if this turbo would have some positive points being on my motor.

i searched for a bit but didn't get much on the hx35. my z has been a project for a bit now...it's a turbo L6 motor bored .080 over, forged pistons, 8:1 cr, stock intake manny, cleaned up head, spork ported exhaust manny. i've been wantin the t3/60-1 for it for a while now...but now have a holset hx35w that has fallen into my lap for free. what i read is that the hx is a bit more laggy than the hy, also an adapter has to be made for it to fit. other than that i didn't get a whole lot of info. any one run the hx35 on their z? what's spool time look like? i plan on running somewhere around 18-19 psi in it...but don't want the car to be terrible on the street...am i best off to sell this turbo and wait for the 60-1? thanks all

my buddy who i used to work with called me tonight...said he had a turbo for me....the place we used to work has a f650 with the cummins 5.9 in it...well the guy who owns the company thought the turbo was makin noise so they just oredered a new one...took the old one out and it's perfect (02 650 with 55,000 miles) they installed the new one adn it's making the same noise...he said they want 50 bux but he might be able to just get them to give it to me...he said the thing is pefect with no shaft play. can't wait..he's sending pics tomorrow.

i called up to see about adding a car to my policy, they asked for some info, my address and what not...i gave them my new one (moved to denver 3-4 months ago from durango...about 5 hrs away) insurance is all done online so i never get a paper bill..never thought about it...so anyway she asked if i'd like to update...i said sure just so everything is current...she changed it and was like oh...that change raised your insurance by $60 bux every 6 months. i asked why and she danced around it...so i was asking if it was because of crime and a chance it'd get stolen? she said no. i asked if it was because there are more cars and increases my chances of hitting one? she said no. she finally said it was based off studies of the area...so then i asked if my rates were increasing based on a study of other peoples driving, and had little to do with my own...and she said "well umm yeah". what a crock of $hit..i'm callin tomorrow to some other insurers...or just to say this move was temporary and i'm goin back to durango.

came across this page http://zhome.com/BRETotal/TopLevelBRE.htm and then this pic

they were 268 shipped. kinda pricey...but they are well made...and i like the look...

the nice thing about these is that the lip is an exagerated form of the front stock fender lip....so they kinda match without haveing to modify the front fenders. which means less work for me and they almost look like they belong.

yeah....in the light pics you can't really see the curve...but that's them on the black car. i like the swooping curve that they have...hopefully this weekend i can start mounting them up...pretty excited to start gettin the car back to one piece.

dude...it's comin down...state of emergeny...owens calls in the national guard?!? helped some of those people who were stick...i generally hate the bad gas mileage and how slow the 4x4 is...but it's times like this that i really enjoy it!...the Z wouldn't have a prayer right now...they are plowing major roads first...then all the side streets...i'd be plowing roads right now with the Z...when we gonna fix that broken head stud?

my computer started running like butt the other morning...until then it had been fine. i have the AVG on here and it said no virus were found. it's kinda odd...like downloading anything sucks, web pages, files...all of it. it starts off fast and quickly starts dropping til it's sittin at .5kbs...and a 10mb file will take days to download. i've tried downloading some of the scanners and stuff from the internet...like spyware doctor...it takes so long to DL it eventually fails. does this sound like a spyware problem to you guys?

i will try calling tomorrow then.....i hope he will split up a pair....if not i'd have to make my own (not too excited about that), unless someone needs a driver side pan for a 240?!?!
-
i recently picked up a driver side floor pan from mobythevan...went in amazingly well. only makes sense to me to put another solid piece on the pass side now. i e-mailed zedd findings a while ago to see if a set can be split up but haven't gotten a response back. has anyone ever done this (purchased pans individually)? is there an easier way to get ahold of him? the pan is sweet, well made and sturdy, and i just wanna complete the Z. thanks!
