  1. might have to....i'm just playin now....there is roughly 1/4" on either side of the rotor with pads in place (came with calipers) with the piston fully depressed...which usually pretty close with any caliper when i change pads...if i need to shim i can...i haven't had fluid in my brake lines in 2 years so no official results.
  2. pads are similar...i think the 300zx pads are a tiny bit smaller. i'll have to take a pic of the back side later...but it did take some measuring and slight modifying. these are z31 rotors...i did have the 240sx brakes for a bit.
  3. i posted a while back about replacing the 240sx with z32 rear calipers since i read that it's a popular upgrade for 240sx guys. found a set of calipers on ebay that were fairly inexpensive and decided to try it out. i used the MMS brackets...the ears were a bit long so they had to be cut and redrilled but that was easy. here's pics of the calipers. not much of a real upgrade performance wise i know..but it does take you from a singe piston to a 2 piston caliper...they are all aluminum and pretty light. my 240sx calipers look like they came from an east coast car. rust flaking off. plus i'm using aline lock in the rear so i didn't like the ebrake lever sticking out of the rear not being used. these will look much cleaner installed little bit of the nissan logo showin...should look good all painted...more will show with the rotas i should be gettin soon in that group buy.
  4. i got a new legacy gt...lovin the car...fun to drive, awd, plus potential for some good power. if i didn't need a 4door i'd have looked at a g35 coupe...and roughed it when the white stuff falls.
  5. we have a civic that does great....12 gallon tank...350 mile trip...still have 1/4 tank left. we recently bought a 2.5 legacy gt...fun car...and cruising a i get 32mpg...plus awd which was great in the snow.
  6. oh well....i'm just gonna shut the door all the way....otherwise my z may as well be entombed in this damn garage
  7. we live in thse crappy town houses...there are 3 spaces per building...well the other night there was a hoa meeting to discuss bushes or some dumb crap along those lines...im in the garage workin on the z...it's a pretty good sized 2 car......and a group of people walk around the corner...i mind my own business and keep at it...well today the lady at the end comes and tells me that they were discussing how dangerous my welding is...and everyone thought it was a good idea for my to push the z into the parking lot and weld out there where the littlekids ride their bikes and tricycles....i told her that was ok...i'll just keep the door shut all the way so they cant what i do...and that's its also easier to entertain my pyro habits behind closed doors....i can't wait to be out of here
  8. love it man! need another ride...to keep me motivated!
  9. wierd...i'd think a 0 offset since it's in the middle...but good to know...thanks!
  10. so a wheel with that is 8" wide with a 4" bs is a wheel with a -12mm offset?
  11. there should be a hole at the corner where the floor pan and tunnel come together...the shoulder harness attached above the quarter windows.
  12. COBB has a right hand drive at their shop now...people are saying its to see if they can mod the ecu
  13. turns out belt broke...are these interference motors?
  14. sounds normal. i did see a small bit of oil on the back side...but have yet to start to take it apart.
  15. lookin for some imput...my sister has a 97 eclipse....2.0 NA....it recently quit on her...she said she was driving..and all of the sudden all the dash lights came on and the car just quit, there weren't any loud noises. there was oil on the road when it came to a stop...engine still turns over...but i can;t see the backside of the motor against the firewall. i didn't have any tools tonight when i saw it...but tomorrow i will check the little peep on the timing belt cover...you can't see the cams through the valve cover. i was just wondering if anyone with any experience with these cars would have any input...possibly an oil line in the back or something that came loose. i'm hopin theres not a rod pokin out the back...but she swears up and down that the radio was off and there was no noise. thanks all
  16. i'm keepin the stock arms on my 240....but i'm wantin to clean them up...years of road debris and POs have taken it's toll on them. as of now i have drilled the spot welds out for the section between where the sway bar mounts...i'm gonna use some thicker steel and create a new mount in between... i have seen pics of them tearing. my main question is...i'm gonna totally box these things in...it'll add a little weight...but really clean them up...esp once powdercoated. if i box these in...can i remove that lip on the edge where the stock spot welds were? so they are square all the way around? thanks all
  17. http://www.tenzoracingsports.com/pricelist/wheels.html#dc5 from their site...dc-6...says 25mm offset. right now i'm 16x8 with 0 offset...i do run coilovers...i'll have to see if i have an extra 1.75" on the back side once i get it back together.
  18. i found some wheels here...come in a 4x114....18x9.5 with a 25mm offset. may be promising.
  19. rockauto.com...thanks a ton!! its like 108 shipped for all rear wheel bearings...at that price i can't pass it up...that's like 60-70 less than autozone for the same pieces..exact same brand!
  20. as far as the bearins are concerned...should this be a nissan part or a beck arnley part? does it really matter here?
  21. is there an inspection process for rear wheel bearings? i took my whole rearend out for new brake and fuel lines, and then decided to powdercoat it all while it was apart. so bearings are out...but we are moving and i need to be able to tow it... i don't really want to spend ~$200 on new bearings...these pass visual inspection and there isn't any play...is there really any reason to repace other than i have it apart right now?
  22. i was wondering if anyone knew of a brake line bulkhead fitting you could use...i want one for the brake line into the cab for the proportioning valve and line lock and back into the tranny tunnel.
  23. this is basically my car...same color and all...and the wheels i'm lookin at for it...but am torn between the silver you see ehre...and a solid black. i was wondering if someone could take it and make the wheels black to give me an idea of what it'd look like...thanks!
