  1. Hey everyone, got more work done today, here are a few teaser pics of my cross member/ Rack&pinion. All nice and cleaned up Ill post some more pics of when I install it, as well as the other work thats getting done today.
  2. WOW Rimal, that thing looks flippin SWEET:2thumbs:
  3. Well, got the engine bay painted. There are a few spots that I will need to touch up but for the most part I am done with the engine bay. Here is a before pic: And Here is an after pic, the shiny spot on the firewall is just there becuase I just sprayed it, Its all a satin black finish. ahem..... please excuse my messy floor lol:icon45: And there you go. Hopefully now I will be more motivated to work on fiber glassing that Dash some more:fmad:....
  4. ROFL. I once sold a 260z and I was in the process of swapping struts since the 260z had lowering springs with stock one and I couldn't figure out why the bolt was not coming off of the spindle until i took a closer look, the PO had stripped the thread on the spindle. so what did he do? He ground down the thread and hammered a nut that had the threads ground out also acting as a collar and then put a cotter pin to hold it from slipping out:shock: I was so happy I found that out before I sold the guy the car. Talk about Ghetto status
  5. Fairlady Z's came with 2.0 liter engines, they were also known as L20
  6. Not much going on. I got most of the engine bay sanded down and almost ready for a full coat of primer. I decided that Im going to spray the engine bay satin black since I am not happy with how the bodywork came out. Its ok, but there seem to be too many imperfections in the engine bay, I was about do fill in all of the ripples and waves that got left from when the metal was stamped into shape, but thats too much work and now I just want to drive the dang car!!!! so anyhow on with the pics:
  7. ahem... Is there a finders fee for posting that link:mrgreen:. lol just kidding
  8. I have a feeling it is a Nardi, but not a nardi classic wheel. Check out this guys nardi, looks almost %100 identical to his(except for the black ring around the wood part of the wheel) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nardi-Steering-Wheel_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4a9d8d62f4QQitemZ320470868724QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  9. Pm stealth-Z, there is actually a pretty cool story behind how he got it. Well I managed to get some work done on it. After waiting over 2 weeks for the brother to do the bodywork I finally caved in and started doing the bodywork myself. Here are a few pics of the progress. Almost done and ready for a thick primer coat. Still a few rough spots but I hope to have it done by the end of the week.
  10. I bought it from Someone(stealth-Z) on this forum, I got the whole front clip.
  11. Not much goin on at this point, Ive been busy these last few days. I just though I would share a pic of the red Im using on the engine bay. Its called "spicy Merlot" by planet color. I LOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!!
  12. Hey thanks guys. Lol Hopefully I will have an update soon. *sighs* if only I could get someone to finish my bodywork on the engine bay, things could go a lot smoother.
  13. Either their copies or the real deal but i think we have a winner: Yours Here are some work equips 03. pretty close except for the fact the these wheels have more studs.
  14. I got 32inches from the firewall to the end of the cable. The one I am using on my z either came from a RHD 240sx or a single cam 240sx. My brother had it laying around, so he gave it to me, seems to be just right for the conversion.
  15. Howdy yall!!!!! Not much going on but I did manage to take the cross member out and cleaned up the welds where the old motor mounts went. and after some paint... here ya go:
  16. I got ths by searching "how to convert ps to hp" on google. 600ps comes out to 592hp. http://www.statman.info/conversions/power.html
  17. ROFL them crazy Romanians!!!! I rember back in 2001 i went to romania to visit family, a dachia my uncle owned was a death trap. no bump stops on the struts so when we turned a corner hard with the car loaded, the floorboards would grind on the pavement/dirt/gravel road:icon45:
  18. Yea, I think the Red is a go then. It will look that much more cooler:icon54:
  19. lol thanks Eric, well got some more work done today. Here is a pic to show the difference of the LHD and RHD gas pedals. Notice that the RHD pedal is a lot longer and has a funky shape to it. Well what I had to do was cut the little bracket off of the LHD one since it was made to work with a 240sx throttle cable and weld it on the RHD pedal. So I cut the pivot ball off of the pedal and ended up welding the piece off of the LHD pedal. Purdy weld Why cant all my welds look like that??? And there you go. All ready to be installed. All I had to do after this was just drill 2 holes on the firewall and I was good to go. And thats what it looks like bolted on. Pretty simple looking. BTW gotta love that body work:fmad: dont worry, its not that thick just a light layer across to fill in the low spots. Also I finally got my brother to do some more body work so, we are getting pretty close to painting the engine bay. OK What do you guys (and girls) think? Should I paint the engine bay satin black or glossy Red(color im going to paint the car)? Im stuck, I would love red but I think it will show all the imperfections, so its kind of in the air right now.
  20. The front bumper is an MSA type 3 bumper, I believe the side skirts are also type 3(with the ends cut lower). Not sure about the flares though. Hoep that helps
  21. Got some more work done today. Laid down some more fiber glass cloth over the bottom section of the dash, still not done with the glassing but im that much more closer. Here are some pics after about an hour and a half of sanding and scuffing up of the bottom portion of the dash. Here are some pics of after I laid down the cloth, before I set the top layer of cloth with resin, I did lay some cloth down in the vent holes so that they are covered well. Once it dries better I will cut the holes out so they look clean. Anyhow there ya go. I wish I had more time to work on it. Being unemployed means I got to do quite a few side jobs just to keep up with my bills, so this stuff gets put off to the side quite a bit. Also as an update on the bodywork on the engine bay: POR15 sucks for bodywork, on their site it mentions you can add filler to por15 once its dry to the touch, which of course i did, as well as scuff it up with some 80grit. But, it ends up chipping off if i tap it with a hammer, so now I have to grind down every spot to the metal that I have to body work.
  22. What worked for me when I drilled the spot welds for my battery tray was that I took a wire wheel and cleaned off the paint/rust off. And it helped alot with finding the spot welds.
  23. I forgot to post some pics of the dash when I V-notched the cracks, so here goes: Im hoping to do some more fiber glassing this weekend and ill be sure to post more pics as I progress. *sigh* I hate how itchy fiberglass makes you. Lol I looked goofy when I laid down the resin because I ended up wrapping paper around my arms and taping em down lol. But hey, it did the job.
  24. Thanks guys, even though im fiberglassing the dash, im still going for the OEM finish. The only other option I might consider is having some Carbon fiber laid down( I got a friend of my brother who does carbon fiber, and owes my bro some work)
  25. Hey everyone, not much going on. Im still at the bodywork of the engine bay stage (im waiting patiently for my brother to do the body work:cry:) but I did manage to get some work done on my RHD Dashboard. I followed the instruction on how to restore an s30 dash from classic z cars website, except for the fact that I decided to fiberglass the whole dash. Here is the link for the wright up. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23919&highlight=dash+repair The only reason that I ended up fiberglassing over the dash, is that it has a ton of cracks all over and has started to turn brittle. Almost anywhere I press on the dash, ends up cracking. Here is the dash after I V-notched the big cracks and filled em with some "great stuff" Here some pics of the fiberglass cloth I laid down on the dash, I hope it turns out good:o.
