  1. i'm eventually gonna go down that road. I'm gonna goto the steel yard and pickup some metal for the mounts. Biggest expense really is exhaust, and radiator (if you do it yourself).
  2. Here's alittle somthing that I just prepared. Gotta wrap it and let it sit overnight, but my mouth is watering. What are yall cooking?
  3. well just a cam from msa is $169, i forgot to mention the extra costs. But i agree, it's better to save up for somthing that will make you grin, then put alot of money into somthing that might be ok for awhile. LT1 ($600-?) first gen 350 ($300-?) l28et ($200-$600) add $500 to the v8's (for exhaust, mounts, fuel pump, dist, radiator etc)
  4. wouldn't this stuff be a great cheap alternative to undercoat, and painting all the body metal other than the exterior (like floors, hatch, etc). It's purpose is rust protection and it's really strong.
  5. yea, when I sprayed it I was concerned because it was real wavy and "bumpy", but i let it dry for a hour and it had leveled to almost glass.
  6. I like that mini coopers color because in the dark it looks dark, but when light hits it, it brightens up....
  7. yea, i didn't think a mild cam was to expensive, prolly $150 or so..
  8. personally, i'd never drop $1500 in headwork on a l24. theres so many other engines that you can get for $1500 with ALOT more power. Lt1's + trans sell for around $800-$1200 here. I dont know what kind of driving or power you want, but to make some good power it would be cheaper and easier on a bigger engine. l28/et, 350 etc..
  9. Let me know how you like it, thats what i'm planning on getting at the end of the month, minus the cart.
  10. do u have a driveshaft made up and installed? Did u use a flat bar crossmember for the t56?
  11. poor old L6 now lies on the floor, lol. Oh well! time to go put a grin on ur face with ur foot to the floor. When i think about a big 350 in a little Z, it makes me smile, lol. My truck with a 350 is powerful but not fast, and I imagine taking 3+ thousand pounds off the truck and thats the Z...lol, it's gotta fly.
  12. Black gets my vote. With nice rims, it's hard to beat. But Clifton still has the best color Z i've seen so far... It's a sterling gray metallic, i want it but alittle darker. oh and the car has 533hp!! If you don't like Z's after looking at his, wow.
  13. because the rustoleum paint is $8 dollars and is really durable ^. I painted a piece of sheetmetal and i've bent it in every direction and the paint doesn't crack or show it at all. Rolling it would be good for small jobs, but a whole car i would spray it (it would be faster, and alot less sanding). But I'm starting to like Big Jim's paint process. $65 for a gallon of one stage auto paint, hardener etc.., that way you can get all 5 or so coats done in a day. The rustoleum you can only do 1 coat a day, which might be a pain for some people.
  14. Well my neighboor had a 60cf cylinder that he's gonna give me, so right there that saves me $160. So i'm gonna buy the HF welder just to see what it can do. I'm still gonna get a mm175 though. But theres a big difference between $150, and $750, so for the occasional hobbiest, that hf 151 might be a good deal, that way you can spend hundreds more on other tools...
  15. so you can weld exhaust with it? good deal for $159 if your not gonna be welding alot.
  16. this is the best welder your gonna get for $159 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=55250
  17. check out www.harborfreight.com they have some really cheap welders (talking $100). Some people really like them, and for $100 it might be worth it if your just using it for this. Because anything else is gonna run you $500 minimum, plus gas bottle/gas etc. So if you want a name brand welder, your gonna spend $700 to be welding with shielding gas.
  18. thats crazy, I was just watching one of ur vids last night and tried to goto ur website but it's down. Good timing, u got the Z that sets the bar...i'll be waitin on thursday to put a new desktop background up..lol
  19. there's a lot of good info here, do a quick search for "300zx v8" and you'll find what you need. But i gotta ask, if you complain about HAVING to drive a 300zx, why go through a swap? I don't like those years of 300zx's much, so I wouldn't put the time and money into a car I wasn't happy with, but thats just my opinion.
  20. i'm gonna burn that to a cd so I can play it in my truck, 12" sub
  21. wooosh, wooosh...i love it, lol. It sounds like its gonna fly.
  22. It sounds good as is. I was wondering about the size of the exhaust, and what muffler you were running.
