  1. Clocking is changing the location of the housings in relation to eachother. They both rotate on the center section, and to aim the outlet of the compressor housing you just have to rotate it a bit.
  2. I used a VG30et (Z31) turbo on mine. You have to re-clock it, and fab a little bracket for the wastegate actuator to bolt to, but its nothing major. It should be watercooled too, which in my opinion is good.
  3. http://www.kimini.com/ That one is good too.....
  4. I got my plugs off some junky 4 cyl toyota at the junkyard, something fwd, I dont even remember what it was.
  5. You can do 400hp with a RB25 without too much hassle, and the initial cost is lower. I know there are a few threads kicking around discussing this topic.
  6. Yes, as with any turbo motor, too much heat will melt pistons. And on a motor with no fuel compensation for boost, it would be more important.
  7. Im sure the exhaust manifold will bolt on. The LD intake bolts on to a normal L motor, and the LD exhaust ports are the same looking as your N42/P90/any squareport head. From the limited pics ive seen of the veggie car, it used a stock 280zxt manifold, turbo, and downpipe. I assume since it worked once it will work again. One big issue your going to have to take care of is the LD uses a front sump oil pan where the Z uses a rear sump. Im going to say its a matter of fabbing up a oil pickup and installing the Z pan.
  8. There is one for sale here for $1500 without transmission. I think thats alot, but the junkyard I go to lets me get a bottom end out the door for $64 so thats why I think $1500 is expensive. There is a forum, that I cant find right now that has about 45 members who are all diesel max owners. If you can find it, there is a classifieds section. IIRC the diesel in maxima form only gets 30mpg, and only makes 80hp. Personally I would rather have a Z with a SR that gets 25-30mpg and makes 200hp, but thats just me. Make sure you read as much as you can about bio-diesel and WVO systems before you jump headstrong into this. Its not a hard process, but its not as easy as going to mcdonalds and filling the tank up. I just picked up a Audi 4000 diesel I plan on converting, it gets 45mpg but wont do much over 70mph. Perfect for my commute but nothing else. Here is a good place to start: http://journeytoforever.org/biodiesel_make.html
  9. It has a cosworth BDP in it. Pretty freakin sweet if you ask me. I would drive it everywhere and hope I didnt get nailed by some girl in an SUV checking her makeup in my reflection!
  10. Ive ridden in two 50-trimmed SRT's. One that has been dyno'd did 409 whp.... I helped my roomate with the install, it went pretty smooth. The kit was really complete, I didnt have to turn on the welder or grinder for the whole install. One small issue we had is the wastegate dump tube hits the floor every once in a while, it hasnt been enough of an issue for me to have to fix it for him yet. Oh right, and the traction issue.... 225 tires and 400hp = wheel spin to third gear.
  11. a buddy of mine just found a garage to rent on craigslist, just look in the housing section and you might find something.
  12. Its already been done! I seriously cant find any info on it with the exeption of the same news story over and over again. It was LD28 with a turbo hung on the side. Ran on recycled fryer oil otherwise known as bio-diesel. Im sure someone else can have better luck with google....
  13. Ive got one of the NISSAN ones.... but no L motor to put it on... Oh and the LD28 valve cover is different. Its skinny to clear the diesel injectors and wont bolt onto a normal L motor.
  14. Some of the 240sx TB's use a larger shaft. Was the nut on there a 12mm or a 14mm? If the bigger, you will have to use a dremmel tool, file, or mill to cut the hole slightly bigger.
  15. Just looking at car-part, you can get into a used transmission from an 03 or 04 for like $650. Im going to guess your SRT has lost more value than $650, but thats just a guess. My roomates SRT has been totally free of little issues like that, he is comming up on 28k miles and the only issue so far has been a belt squeek that goes away once the car is warm. Oh right, and the broken axle from a failed burnout at the drag strip.
  16. This is an interesting topic. Ive usually had friends that are into cars, and friends that know how to work on cars, but most cant really keep up with the pace I keep while wrenching. Im usually the one helping everyone else out, and seeing my project covered in dust in the corner. Ive always been around older car guys (im 25 now, most of these guys are in thier 50's and 60's now) so I learned a whole lot at a young age. My dad has been the influence/huge help since I was little and wanted to learn about everything with wheels. Ive taken alot of knowlage and work ethics from him, and sometimes his tools too (haha) I think without him around, I wouldnt be into cars at all. He is one of the few people who I can wrench with and not get fustrated with. As for the car clubs.... The only ones ive found worth while, or 'fun' to be in seems to be the vintage racing clubs. Ive met alot of really cool people who would help me if I asked, and who are the first to throw me a beer when I can help them out a bit. These guys actually use thier cars, rather than go to the drive-in, eat burgers, and shoot the breeze while staring at everyone elses rides.
  17. I sell them on Ebay under the user name Fiestaboy80. I sell them with the linkage modified and no spacer. I havent been getting any out of the junkyards locally due to lack of supply I guess. I usually charge $75 + $8 shipping. The linkage mod is quite simple, and if you get one from a single cam KA24E without cruise control there is no cutting or threading needed.
  18. My roomate has a Tail with open dump tube on his SRT-4. Its fun to scare people with the noise. Mine will be running a similar setup, but on the side of an RB. As always 240hoke, your work looks great!!
  19. Im trying to sell my RB harness and ECU on local forum here. The harness has been modded to plug and play into a 240sx. Im curious what you guys think a good price would be for both me and the buyer. He offered me $150 for the pair, which I think is way too low. Ive seen KA24dE ECU/Harness combo's go for that. Curious to see what you guys think. Later Kenny
  20. http://www.dragdriftautox.com used to have them. Its where my clip came from.
  21. Watchin this topic. Im curious also as im thinking about doing a similar setup on the RB.... still havent decided yet, but ive got the wastegate so I might give it a shot
