  1. You`ll get no complaints from me, I`m thankfull for every day that this site is here.Since I`m stuck in Alabama and don`t know anyone here. This is my only link to like minded people If it wasn`t for this site, The mechanical knowledge part of my brain would shrivel up, and by the time I got back to Ohio I wouldn`t even be able to change my own oil My only suggestion would be to have a link for donations to site maintanance, so that at any given time if someone want`s to kick in a few bucks to help out, it`s only a mouse click away
  2. the biggest problem I see is that the car isn`t registered to you. so if you "steel" it back, technically if you get caught you don`t have much to stand on. The title jumping is a whole different issue. Why did it get towed to begin with?
  3. I`ve tossed around all sorts of ideas including a pit, scissor lift,2 post,4 post, and even in groung hydraulic. when I get back to Ohio for good,I`m going to put in one of the low clearance 2 post lifts. You can pick them up on Ebay for 1800 bucks and no sales tax. I will have to modify the trusses in the front half of my garage to vault the ceilings,But if I had all the money that I`ve spent on chiropractors in the past from having to twist, lift, push and pull while laying under a car. I could have bought two by now.
  4. refering back to a previous thread. I couldn`t help but notice the rear bumper sticker, This guys a Nascar fan
  5. I personally could not use a lap top as my only pc. maybe in a pinch, but I have gotten so used to the bigger screen that it drives me nuts when I`m up north and have to use someone elses that only has a 15" monitor. Mine is only 17" but thats pretty big compared to a 15". A lap top would drive me insane,it also drives me crazy to have to go back to dial up when using somone elses pc. My .02 anyway
  6. check for voltage at both sides of your fuse links
  7. Everyone has their own ideas about what makes a car great. For some it`s going down the 1/4mi as fast as possible, and for others they would rather run on a road course. this is what makes our hobby so interesting. A few years ago I saw an rx7 street car with full interior running low 10`s in the 1/4 with an na sbc and a narrowed 8 3/4 mopar rear. I`m sure it was no good in the turns but watch out in the straights. My point is, This is a hobby, and everyone enjoys different thing from their hobbies.I`m sure there are plenty of guys out their that wonder why anyone would go through the trouble of putting a v8 in a z, a jag,a fiero,a porche or a vw. My reply to them... "Because I can"
  8. the 9" would be a pretty involved install, but the r200 is a direct bolt in. Oh I almost forgot, I`ve got 2 r200`s for 50.00 ea.+ shiping. By the way, Both of us are on the wrong board. I don`t know where the Olds guys go ,but I should be in the buy, sell, trade section
  9. my concern is seat height. I like the way the stocks seats cradle you but also would like somthing newer and more comfortable. Suggestions?
  10. I would also like the cowl hood in at least a 3.5" or even a 4.5" with 3.5" exhaust I don`t think the sleeper look is going to be an option for me:2thumbs:
  11. Where did you get your hood? and are they still available? That looks like the perfect hood for my car and would look sweet with the msa bumpers and ground effects if you end up parting the car, would you consider selling the hood?
  12. Did you ever get a hood? I`m also looking for a fiberglass hood, Maybe a cowl induction style or possibly the subtle Z hood HHMMmmm does anyone know where I can get a deal?
  13. it sounds like your converter is locked to me,JMO
  14. I was in Pitt last week.I picked up my brother there and took 28 N to I80 E and drove to NYC to pick up a hardtop for my MGB
  15. While going through knoxville tonight,I saw a 280z limping along on the safety burm. It was sort of dark red or possibly rust colored and missing the rear bumper. Was it anyone from this site? If so I`m sorry I didn`t stop but I had some fussy kids and my mother in law who has a broken foot with me
  16. That sucks, are you sure the car can`t be rebuilt? If not I guess you`ll have to find a donor.
  17. Its about 22 bucks a can, but you should use weld through primer. It comes in a spray can and can be bought at most auto body supply stores. After use be sure to turn the can upside down and spray to clear the tip and nozzle or you will have a very expensive paper weight
  18. Why not just get a chevelle 4 door? If you just don`t like the looks and would rather have a gto or some thing. you might try using a sister car?like the chevelle would be to the pontiac. then try to mold the doghouse, quarters and door skins from the pontiac to the chevy. I`m sure it can be done, but it would still be more than I would want to tackle. Nova, tempest and lemans all made 4 door cars. IMO,That would be the easiest route,Unless you have plenty of free time
  19. The term "Ricer" is just a more specific type of poser. I agree that there are many many posers out there, Heck I was one at one time. When I was 16 or 17 it`s all I could afford to be, I was lucky to have a car let alone a fast one. I still loved the sound of loud exhaust, the look of fat tires and air shocks.none of which helped the performance of the car but it made me feel like it was faster my problem with the ricer croud is, they seem to have plenty of money to spend.but they put alot off it into things that do nothing for peformance:bonk: whiththe amount of money that some of these guys have in there cars they could be very fast. What`s worst of all is the attitude that you get from them, like no old rear wheel drive ,carbureted car could possibly beat their front wheel drive, fuel injected,slammed,18" wheeled monster fiberglass winged, bass thumpin,1800lb civic. I admit that there are some of these guys out there getting respectable #`s from these little puddle jumpers, but it`s a very small percentage of them. The fact still remains, that rear wheel drive will always be the best way to go The only thing that could change my mind would be to see John Force set the new 1/4 mi record with a front wheel drive
  20. Welcome, You`ve come to the right place. There are plenty of guys here who have been there/done that, who`s brains you can pick. I also will be starting the transplant process soon, and will be asking many more questions than I will be able to answer. Good Luck
  21. I`ve seen 4 into 2, but never 2 into 4. Why don`t you just get a 4 door to begin with? They are usually cheaper anyway. What car are you considering for the metamorphasis?
  22. What do I need to put a t56 behind a 383 sbc? Is there a specific flywheel needed? What is the strongest or most reliable model year of t56? and what kind of performance upgrades are there for the t56? I`m tossing around ideas in my head. I`ve intended on useing either a 200r4 or a 700r4 but I really like driving a stick. What are the 5 spd options? I`ve read previous posts saying that first gear in the t56 is almost useless, effectively making it a 5 spd. Maybe I should just go with the 5 to start with. Does anyone have a suggestion or recomendation on a nearly bullet proof 5 spd that wouldn`t require my left testicle as a sacrifice?
  23. Keep the momentum It`s easy to stay motivated when you see progress
  24. MAN!! That gives me the fever I can`t wait to get my Z done.
  25. Beat him up a little Very rarely is the first price given the bottom dollar. 800 usually means 600
