  1. In what way does it have play? clockwise/counter clockwise? Or is the play from side to side/up and down as a result of worn bushings? Depending on what distributor you have, if it is rotational play, it could be caused by weak or broken mechanical advance springs. In which case you would simply replace them. If the wear is in the bushings, your best and easiest bet would be to replace the distributor
  2. I can tell my plasma cutter will get some use when I design my tailights. I too lean towards the cut slits, and maybe sequential led`s or something
  3. If He had done that to me, Jail would be the safest place for him and Bubba would be the least of his worries
  4. My shop is 30'x60'. I wish it was bigger, but the city won`t let me expand. I`m adding a 30x50 pad next to it to give me someplace to park my trailer and possibly the Ford F800 that I`m trying to make a deal on
  5. WOW $250 to $300 for a 24x24? That means my garage would be between $800 and $1000 Maybe I can get a volume discount That would really cut into my floor hoist fund.
  6. I agree that this question should have been posted in the troubleshooting board, instead of the high performance board. But, I don`t think it`s appropriate to tell them they don`t belong here and to go to another site Everyone has to start somewhere. Try to be a little more patient with the "newbies"
  7. No, it was red with a perfect body. I got it it for 75.00 bucks from a college professor who knew nothing about cars. I found a head for 40.00, and sold the truck a few months later for 800.00 I bought a really sharp dark blue 77 extended cab a few years later that I had nothing but trouble with. Mostly carb trouble. I would have gotten rid of it sooner but the chicks loved it. The things a hormone driven 20 year old will put up with for love(or whatever you want to call it)
  8. I can personaly attest to the "unforgetable ride" part. When I was 18 I bought a 77 datsun pickup that had a dropped a valve seat. the truck had been sitting for a few years before I got it, and The clutch disc was frozen to the flywheel. I didn`t have anyone to help, so I pushed the truck out of the garage and started it up in first gear. Whoo Hoo it`s a good the we lived out of town on a low traffic road. I shifted it through all of the gears but had no luck freeing the disc the worst part was coming to a stop sign and seeing cross traffic i finally got it stopped but had to kill the ignition first. The carb was stuck on high idle and it didn`t want to stop i had a similiar problem in my 78 toyota celica when the slave cylinder unexpectedly whent out
  9. I didn`t bid at all. I thought someone else might be interested, but I was mostly wondering about the Z in the pictures, Just curious if it`s a members car or not. the paint says it`s an acrylic enamel
  10. Well I guess the E-88 head that I have should go to scrap since it`s a 73 I wasn`t going to use it myself, but I`ve been storing it hoping someone could use it someday. If anyone wants it let me know soon, or it will end up as a few hundred pop cans.
  11. the problem with soda is the price, 50.00 per bag vs. sand at 5.00. it also takes more soda since it isn`t as agressive as sand.
  12. I talked to a shop in Gadsden Al.The guy said he would soda blast my entire 71 chevelle inside and out for 600.00,but soda will not remove rust.
  13. I`ll assume that the video was taken by someone associated with the mustang owner.Since the only clock they "attempted" to zoom in on was for his lane. In which case, he needs to invest some cash in his car and a new video camera I`ll bet his a$$ is really bruised after a spankin like that
  14. Does that make sense? Apparently we can ship all kinds of dangerous stuff back and forth between ourselves (in the U.S) but god forbid we try to get some of it out of the country Would a kiln at a ceramics shop work? I`m sure 500F wouldn`t be a problem for them. I guess 500F could be done at home if you have a self cleaning oven
  15. I have recently seen problems with other brands of paint. Some are very suseptible to scratches, and also to gasoline. I`ve seen some dupont paints bubble and lift from exposer to gasoline. I`ve been considering some sort of two part epoxy paint, but haven`t been able to find much info on specific brands. Mike, Was the paint you used, a "two part" or two stage(base/clear)? I`m also curious of whether or not they offer metallic or pearls with the epoxy paint. Thanks, Denny
  16. Has anyone here used the sherwin williams automotive paint or paint products? I`m just looking for a little first hand feedback. It says on their web site that Chysler is using their products. http://www.sherwin-automotive.com/
  17. I thought maybe someone here might recognize the z in this add. also the price of the paint seems reasonable http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1843513460
  18. Just repeating what I`ve heard. I`ve been wrong before(but don`t tell my wife)
  19. I`ve also heard that the dimples in a vynle top will also cause a car to be "slippery" similar to the dimples on a golf ball

  21. I think a "dicipator" would be more accurate since the heat dicipates into the air as it passes through it

I`m in Ohio with a pinched nerve in my back. I have a chiropractor apointment tommorow,If that goes well I will head south tomorrow evening. I`ll say something to my wife about it, she likes races. I may be gimped up a bit but it sounds like a good time
  23. Ditto`s I agree with all the guys here. There is nothing like selling a project and regreting it later Lately I`ve seen many people here sell there project z half finished, and it really bothers me. We should all take Pete as an example. What you really need most to finish your Z is patience. If your sitting around "laid up" anyway, you`ve got nothing but time I`ve been accumulating parts for my 77 for 3 yrs. The key is getting good deals on what you buy, then you`re not looking at the parts sitting there as a bunch of cash that you could use for somthing else. The more patient you are, The less you will have in your car.
