  1. could the 440-1 be the early high nickle content block? and the 440-3 be the later lower compression engine? Just tossing out ideas, I believe that all parts will physicaly interchange if that`s an issue.
  2. I may be a target now. luckily I do have all of my updates. I got two emails today that were infected. Both were zcar related titles. I would not recommend opening any email without having your virus software completely up to date I`m pretty sure it`s from someone at zcar.com I`ve made too many comments about them being nissan fanatics
  3. I have never been able to stick with one plan I usually have about 6 different plans going at the same time is that your intake for 35 bucks? I might be interested. i`m hoping to thin the herd a little later this year, The corvair will be sold this summer. One z will be sold also and next spring I hope to sell the chevelle. I`m also giving my mom a deal on the 92 explorer.with those gone I should be able to fit everything into my garage at one time and still have a little room to move (if I get rid of some of the "someday I might need that" stuff
  4. there are some who say the swap itself can be done in 30 to 40 hrs,as long as you have all of the pieces ahead of time. the key is to make a plan and stick with it it sounds good in theory anyway
  5. I already have a snap on ya212, 230 amp mig welder with a tig torch. I have used the tig on stainless with minimal success. I`m sure it will work better with 100% argon vs, 80/20. So what your saying is, I don`t need a spool gun and, that the tig will work better for aluminium? Sounds good to me
  6. Yes, I`ve heard of it and done it. When I was younger I pulled a 22 ft camper with a 3/4 ton ford van around the state of michigan to set up sound equipement at county fairs. my boss insisted on my using moth balls in every tank to help with spark knock. There were a few times that I forgot to put them in. Believe it or not, it did make a difference. I`m not sure if moth balls still have the same properties, but it worked 15 yrs ago. By the way, I ran our boat this weekend on a full tank of gas that had been in there for over 3 yrs. It ran great for about 3 hrs(untill the timing chain went out)
  7. This thing was 317k. I`m not sure what virus it was yet because it was only quarantined. My update service ran out, but I`ll have everything updated after the weekend. I usually don`t open anything from people I don`t know. It must be some fanatic from zcar.com messing with us It seems odd to me that some random person would be picking names arbitrarilly from this site to infect but I guess it could happen.
  8. Does anyone know a good place to get a spool gun? I`m planning on gettting a bottle of pure argon to use with the tig torch for my welder. so the pure argon would be dual purpose
  9. Sorry to post here.I sent an email to the address on the mail, but I wasn`t positive that it was really from you or not. I`m lucky that it was caught. my update service ran out about a week ago.
  10. Is it possible that the photographer who printed this didn`t see that? Or do you think he was getting a jab at the guy? Imagine what his wife or GF might say
  11. I recieved an email from you today that was quarantined by norton. Was it anything imortant?
  12. If you need an n42 I have 1 left
  13. I wouldn`t be too concerned about the extra pressure caused by machining the blocks. In fact I would welcome the extra pressure, It`s much less likely to slip with more pressure my .02 anyway
  14. That`s cool, I`ll take some more precise measurements and let you know exactly what I need
  15. I had a 78,and a 79 celica gt hatchback and a 79 coupe when I was in college(about 13 years ago) I had big ideas of putting a sbc in one. At the time money was very tight an I could barely afford the gas to get back and forth to school. I had people tell me I was nuts and that it couldn`t be done. I think I`m going to start looking for a solid donor to put in storage until the Z is done That will be my HybridC With the tools that I have now, I think that swap may be even easier than the Z. All cars should have come with a V8
  16. It sounds like you`re further along than most of us.My 75 is an empty shell in paint jail waiting on a fiberglass hood.My 77 is almost ready for parole and still has the stock drivetrain(I will most likely sell it when it`s done) I`m still rounding up parts for the conversion, and I`ve been here for about a year or more. Well, Maybe by this fall
  17. sell it as a go cart when your finished with it
  18. I also may need some 1" spacers. Where can I get longer studs?
  19. you will need a neoprene hose. it is specifically made to resist gasoline/petroleum. I would scroung around some salvage yards to see if you can`t come up with some pieces to splice and get your desired diameters
  20. Installation is similar to the powertrax/lock right unit. The difference is, the PG doesn`t lock. It`s more like the cone type or clutchless limited slip that gm used in the mid 80`s. It uses two hardened steel blocks and a set of springs to put pressure on the spider gears. I`m not sure about the discount, someone else will have to chime in. I do know that they are still available
  21. I know it`s cheap, and I`ll probably regret it afterwards. The money I get from these will go into my dart aluminium pro1 230cc fund. That`s where all of the money from the parts that I`m selling of is going to. I want the set with springs set up for up to a .700 lift roller cam I`ve also got the Keith Black 10.5:1 hyperutectic pistons for 383 with 5.7 rod. selling pistons and rings only.also never been fired. I`m going to JE`s or Weisco`s at 11:1
  22. what cam do you plan on running? Flat tappet hydraulic?roller, ect? and how much lift? I`ve got a set of dart sportsmanII`s with 200cc runners, set up for up to .525 lift flat hydraulic lifters.complete with screw in studs, guide plates.hardened pushrods, and crane full roller rockers.I also have the cam and lifters to match the springs. none of these parts have ever been run. they are on an assembled 383 that has never been fired. I would take 850.00 for everything including the cam and lifters, minus the short block and timing set Sorry for not posting in the buy/sell board
  23. Thanks lockjaw. By the way any guestimates on what day and time you want to pick up that p79 head this weekend?
  24. To all the the Nascar fans on the board, I`m speaking in general terms. I`m sure that there are plenty of you with more than double digit I.Q`s .The fact that your into Z cars says somthing about you. But I`ve run into quite a few here in the Oxford/Anniston area that aren`t smart enough to tie there own shoes .Especialy the ones running around without car insurance. we`ve only been here for 8 months, and two of our vehicles have been hit by uninsured motorists(one was totaled). The most recent was our 99 explorer. A woman attempted to pass my wife while she was making a left turn at the top of a hill on a double yellow line(she had a nascar sticker too). maybe double yellows and turn signals don`t mean the same thing here
