  1. wow, that's a lot of wheel that you'd need if you want them to fit correctly without spacers, up into the 10-12" wide types! If you leave your spacers on, and polish these up, these (possibly) Halibrand Magnesium wheels could look pretty cool. The auction says they are 15X9.5 with a 3.75" backspace (deep!), so with your adapters they should come out to the edge of your fenders. I haven't done all the math, but it "feels" about right just looking at the numbers...(but the lug pattern is 5X4.75...kind of wierd...) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Vintage-Halibrand-Magnesium-9-1-2-x-15-Wheels_W0QQitemZ120091728651QQihZ002QQcategoryZ140747QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  2. Hey, that looks pretty nice, Mike! You're right though, the offset and width are all wrong on those wheels. How much wider than stock are your current fenders, do you know?
  3. I think you should post some pics of the Mikemobile so I can get a better idea of what we're working with here...
  4. Looks really similar to this Greddy bodykit, but it's got slight differences... http://www.greddy.com/products/display/?Category=aero&SubCategory=61 Or maybe like this one from JUN: http://www.junauto.co.jp/products/aero-parts/z32/front-bumper-spoiler.html?en
  5. This is the only car related photoshop I've done so far, and it's pretty much the first photoshop project that I tried to do ever. I literally JUST unwrapped my brand new drawing tablet, so I'm going to try and do something really worth showing.
  6. OTM, what kind of job are you planning to get in the next 10 minutes that will pay for both that, AND the super smackdown challenge car by 2010? You need to send me an application...
  7. I don't think you can do it in an NA Z32. Not even the mighty BRAAP could pull this one off...you may need to give RonTyler the keys and let him see what he can do with it, Paul. (how's that for reverse psychology? only time will tell if it worked or not...)
  8. Mike, don't do the wire wheels, those look like garbage, and probably won't hold up to the power of a 572...I heard a story about a guy with a mustang that was on 100-spoke Daytons that spun the hubs right out of them...I think a GTO would look good if you could find some replica GT-40 or Pantera style wheels, like these: GT-40 wheels: Pantera wheels: I know you can get reproductions of the gt40 wheels still, but I don't know about the pantera wheels (or what lug pattern either one used for that matter...)
  9. So far as anybody knows it's not commercially available. Just these three pics circulating on the net. It looks like they just took some stock replacement fiberglass front fenders and added a little piece at the top to widen them, and stretched the usual fiberglass airdam on the bottom, but the rears are all custom. I'm now of the opinion that this car is a very professional one-off...I can't believe that a car with that much work in it just fell off the face of the planet, but I suppose if the red Primadonna can do it, then the mystery Z can do it too...
  10. Sparks, I couldn't get your link to work, just to be clear, Mopar69 and I were talking about the car I posted, is that what you were talking about as well? I ask because I've been trying to track down information about this car forever, and nobody knows anything beyond what's in those three pictures...
  11. Are you saying the Mystery Z has a V-8? if so, where did you come by that information?
  12. Get yourself one of these: http://www.cafepress.com/buy/raleigh/-/pv_design_prod/pg_1/p_storeid.20394670/pNo_20394670/id_6894059/opt_/fpt_/c_360/ That should let him know your feelings on his choice of vehicle...
  13. Ah, but it clearly says in the description: Which it clearly isn't (though it does look to be a nice setup). It's hard to say without a picture of the other side of the manifold, but you can see it's webbed, and you can see the beginnings of an EGR channel under the plenum, so that means it's not one of the cool egr-less early manifolds. It's got more than $300 worth of stuff included as pictured, so it's still a good deal. Calling that filter setup a cold air might be a little optimistic, since that placement would leave it right behind the radiator...
  14. Are racing brakes always that loud like in the first video?
  15. I'd offer mike 100k to do it for me, and I'd supervise. What would you do if you were at the Playboy mansion, and you only had one water balloon?
  16. Looks just like mine, but instead of garden hose fuel lines I've got braided -6 lines...also I don't have those pretty blue injector spacers or a nice aeromotive FPR...I'd be curious to see what it finally goes for since it's up to $300 right now.
  17. Lets see some pics! of the Girl, the Z, and the Stratos!
  18. I just found out that the 350 that I was planning to get from my buddy is in fact now just a short block sans heads (and he's not sure he even wants to get rid of it anymore), so I'm thinking I'm probably on the donor car market now. I'd like to do this swap as cheaply as possible, and if I could find a decent manual trans third gen camaro or firebird for around $1k or so (I don't know how realistic that is, I haven't looked at all yet), I think that I could probably come out ahead. I'm about fed up with the state of my L-series right now...I'm pretty sure it jumped time, and I just discovered that in addition to that, two of my injectors weren't squirting at all, and the spark plug on a third cylinder was hand loose due to the threads getting messed up. So a helicoil and some injector soaking got me up to 5 cylinders (#2 injector didn't respond to being soaked), but I still need to break down and re-time the whole engine from scratch...I'm thinking it's going to be about the same amount of work to just swap in a V-8.
  19. I think I actually just won the race again (it allows you to reset the results so you can get the prize car again) to get a white one...(I had a lot of time on my hands, and I was really good with the "b-type" racing where the game plays itself with minimal input from you for the purposes of winning cars-another wtf?! moment in that game was when I saw there were actual 24hr endurance races...)
  20. It would probably be wierd, but I'd deal with it. (I wonder if this is really a game like the "this or that" thread, or a veiled request for actual advice on this issue?) What would you do if....you felt that you were more qualified to do a particular thing than almost anyone you'd ever seen do it, but had no idea how to break into that line of work? (now that IS a thinly veiled request for actual advice!)
  21. Didn't the Mako have a piece of chrome trim just above the fade line, or is that just something I made up? I think that the fade is a very hit or miss proposition, but if done correctly will look pretty nice. I'd keep the lighter color around the lower character line if it was me, that way the natural archetecture of the car will help seperate the shades. Just googled the mako in another window, and sure enough, no trim:
  22. This ancient thread (such as it is) touched on a question I've been wondering about: Is a box-stock used T-56 tranny stronger than an aftermarket T-5 style tranny? Most of the prices I've seen are very comparable (start around $1500, and go up from there), and I was wondering if anybody had some experience one way or the other. I'm probably going to do the whole junkyard T-5 just to get it going route, but if I come into some cash I may consider an upgrade, and those were the two options I was considering.
  23. All the T5 literature I've seen has said you should ONLY ever use ATF in it.
  24. A good place to get information about games in general is www.gamefaqs.com. You can search by title or platform, and it's full of all kinds of good stuff. On the subject of GT4, I think it had good points, and bad points. It took so much fiddling with the settings to get the cars to oversteer, I got frustrated with trying to set them all up...also, I missed the turntable method of getting random victory cars. And furthermore, whats the deal with the cars you can't drive ANYWHERE?! I'm looking at you Nike car and Toyota thing that looked like the Nike car...I thought that a LOT of the vehicles in that game were a waste of time. could the driving missions be ANY harder? I did the first 10 or so, and lost interest quick...at least that got me the DeLorean...
