  1. Autometer Tachs do that all the time. they have an air core mechanism that only drops them down to zero when you power them up, they all come with a disclaimer in the instructions that this does not indicate a malfunction. Or maybe the car is running?
  2. Looked like Red Rock for a second there, there's a nice road running through that park (of course the auto 6cyl mustang rental we had was completely gutless, but that's neither here nor there...). Where is Valley of Fire? Near Vegas?
  3. So are they 15" or 14"? You've got 15 in the thread title, but 14 in the first post. They'll fit, but won't win you any originality points. Not that they look bad, but that wheel style is a very common choice.
  4. Hey Brandon, were you really driving around with only one bucket cover like in that last picture you posted? Like a Pirate...Oh, you missed out on the intercooler deal, I snagged Turbo Saturn Guy's old one for $20. It's pretty beat up, and had some squished fins that I needed to straighten out, but it was holding up to his car at 350whp like that. It's a bit longer and skinnier than my Pulsar GTi-R unit, so I think I'll be able to fit it alongside the spark plug half of my engine instead of straddling the valve cover like I originally planned. I think I'll draw a concept picture and post it to the S30 drawing thread...
  5. 1 fast z, that's really looking good! Just need to clock those turbos and button it up! Chewie, if I had that much time and money and effort in something with that much market potential, I'd probably want to keep most of the details proprietary.
  6. I suppose I'll have to represent for the 813. Tampa, FL yall!
  7. Dragonfly, what happened to the whale tail? Still have it laying around somewhere? This is about as "before" as it gets for me without breaking out the ladder and digging up the "hard-copy" photos. It was originally blue with cream interior, but I promptly gave it its first rattlecan tuxedo within a month or two. Also it had a snake in it. Here it is with my not quite re-painted Impuls (these are going to be the wheel of choice for me, but I'm currently repainting them) Here it is right now, with my B-side wheels (MOMO quasar) and my not finished fascia project on it: *and for the record, I always thought Larry's (Cozy Z Cole) side pipes were the business...*
  8. Looked like a DNF to me, it lost its car halfway down the track and had to stop... Davyz= "Excuse me, but I speak Jive..." Airplane was so funny...
  9. My stepfather's boss has more money than sense, and he managed to wad up an Enzo showing off getting on the interstate once. It was cool though, because he just went out and got another one...Am I the only one that thinks Eddie Griffen is just NOT funny? I think this may be the funniest thing I've ever seen him do. I cant scrounge up any hard feelings for that Enzo either, I've never been much of a supercar-phile. Given 1.5mil, I'd most likely resto-mod something else.
  10. I also like building toys. I had a bunch of Lincoln logs, a big tin of Legos (I once built myself a transformer out of legos that went from a jet to a robot), but I really liked Construx. Here's a file photo (i.e. that kid isn't me):
  11. Alright, I'll bite. Robotech and Transformers. Betcha didn't see that coming, did you? Some other cool toys that didn't get any credit: Super Naturals (not the porn video, but the hologram based action figures) http://www.virtualtoychest.com/supernaturals/supernaturals.html Inhumanoids (these things were BIG, in size I mean, not popularity) http://www.virtualtoychest.com/inhumanoids/inhumanoids.html M.A.S.K. (I liked anything that would transform into something else) http://www.virtualtoychest.com/mask/mask.html M.U.S.C.L.E. (I had a ton of these, they came in little clear plastic trashcans for some reason) http://www.virtualtoychest.com/muscle/muscle.html Sky Commanders (they came with zip lines that you'd set up all over the place and then they'd slide down them on little wheels and stuff) http://www.virtualtoychest.com/skycommanders/skycommanders.html
  12. Well, you could always buy it, and then store the RB in my car instead...
  13. You can hang your L28et in my engine bay if you need a place to keep it.
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDZEmbaI_0w
  15. Did somebody mention Indian music videos earlier? I thought somebody mentioned Indian music videos... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbvP7dT3Dx0 On the subject of remakes, you'll never guess what this trailer is a preview for...
  16. I feel like I owe you guys some good choreography to make up for that last post, so here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFcxe_DSyjs
  17. That's no excuse, when videos were "brand new", that was actually a time when experimental video making was allowed to take place. There were no video cliches that needed to be maintained yet. Rap videos didn't HAVE to have big booty girls of presumably loose moral standards shakin it in hot pants with gangstas throwing dollar bills at them while wearing rediculous jewelery(though some did) in order to be recognized as a Rap video, and pop videos didn't HAVE to have scores of teeny boppers moving robotically in sequence to cookie cutter soundtracks to be recognized as such (though some did). People took chances in the old days. Look at Thriller, look at pretty much everything Peter Gabrial put out. In fact, look what these European 80's musicians did in the 80's. One of the most innovative videos ever shot in the opinion of many who's opinions on these things matter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0R7dvLAiP8 I then challenge you to watch this video from the "modern" video era and tell me again about choreography...
  18. You know the spoiler in the picture you posted is for a 280zx, right?
  19. I like my JSK rail. I've only had the car running a little bit on it, but if nothing else it really cleans up your engine bay...
  20. My old manager used to always be posting on Freshalloy.com, he was a pretty cool guy who was trying to put a 2jz into an S13 (we fell out of touch, I don't know if it ever happened or not). I used to rag on him for being into car forums since I'd never seen one that had any kind of real tech info. While he was searching for 240sx stuff, I'd be googling Z car stuff on the other computer. I remember stumbling across JnJ's website, and thinking it was one of the craziest things I'd seen...I think I was reading one of the super long aero threads that was going on here, and some of the other interesting projects, and felt like I finally needed to try and be active in the Z community. I almost left after 1 fast Z inexplicably blew up at me for asking some questions about his DOHC project early on in my time here, but OTM and b_sosick talked me out of it. It's definitely my digital home now, that's for sure.
  21. 245? that's HUGE for a single cam...Most B-series turbo kits only make around that number.
  22. I put about 5 gallons in the tank, and hit the gas, and sure enough, all the way up to 6k. Looks like I need to put some effort into plumbing in a surge tank. Up to now I'd just been putting in a gallon here and a gallon there. I suspect I mounted my fuel cell backwards too, I put the pickup facing towards the front of the car, but in retrospect, it would have made much more sense to put it facing the back, that way the acceleration would send the fuel into instead of away from the hoses.
  23. I thought this car was a super sleaper at first glance, but the more I thought about it the more I wondered: WTF is the point of going to that extreme length of hiding your turbo system, and STILL using the super honda-boy sound non-recirculating blow off valve? -10 points on the ultimate sleeper score card, plus another -5 for the fuel pressure gauge that's screwed into the banjo bolt on his fuel filter, -5 for not changing out the "MSD" stamped boot on the MSD plug wire that came with his remote coil conversion cap (even though he went to the trouble to pull the sticker off the cap itself...). I'd be curious how this engine bay looks in person. It almost seems like it was designed to be seen from that angle. How did he route the air filter off the turbo without being obvious? I'm also curious how fast it really is. The D-series Vtec motors made around 120hp to the crank? How much power is a non-intercooled turbo going to add, like 50-60hp? I'd expect it should be about as fast as a stock GS-R integra then, unless there is some other funny business going on. I always thought the ultimate sleeper honda would be an HF CRX (8-valve econo model, but equipped with sequential EFI instead of TBI like the DX) with a 4-valve D15 block overbored to accept D16a1 pistons(twin cam integra D-series, basically the same as a JDM ZC honda motor)to bump the compression (I think it's something like 3/4 of a point if I recall), and then get a Gude 1.6 non-vtec head and cam package, but don't use the 16valve valve cover, just re-use the old 8 valve HF cover. I'd try to find some way to spray on that motor with a hidden system. This setup would leave you with all the correct external markings of the D15 engine you started with, but all the internals of a built up 1.6 race motor. It wouldn't be the king of the street, but much like the civic in question, it would be a LOT faster than it was supposed to be since the 8-valve HF only made 50 flywheel hp...
