Post some pics, I'll be sure and comment on them

Did this dyno shootout ever actually occur? This is a pretty old thread that kind of started big and sort of wimpered out...that would have been something to see, that's for sure.

Which spoiler works best?

Avatar car looks like a raised up version of the larger spoiler, you can see the lip that runs all the way around its edge. Do you know anything about that car? what engine is in it that has a passenger side fender exit exhaust? Doesn't look like one of the big team cars, is it a privateer? Check this out: http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z10214/Nissan_280ZX%20Race%20Car/default.aspx Now THAT'S a spoiler... -
Braap, that's going to be awesome! Up front, that looks like hood clearance is going to be an ISSUE. It looks like you could plane the top of your manifold down (don't know if you want to though) to pick up a bit, and you could probably ditch all that cast in stuff on top of the charger itself, I think that's probably what you were talking about leaving until final installation? Would it be better to make a longer shaft, or just make a new pulley that had a built in spacer on the back? How much longer does it need to be? (it doesn't look like much in that picture, but without the other pulleys in place it's hard for me to tell) Are you going to run a dedicated belt, or just extend your existing serpentine belt out to drive it? And as for paying Ron back, I think all he ever really wanted was the name "Paul (BRAAP) Ruschman" spelled out in cursive on the street right in front of his house in nice smoky black streaks...

maybe just post a direct link to the auction? I copied and pasted the item number, and that's what it told me...Ah, here's the problem, can't copy the number sign when you want it to work. here it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320035221428

I knew you were talking about non-bypass at that point, but the principals of fluid pressure in a tube increasing by putting in a restriction should be the same for either type...denting the top of the regulator must not be causing a restriction then, but just changing the pre-load on how much fuel is able to bypass the rail? Sorry I kind of turned this into an EFI discussion, I thought I had it figured out, but now I see that I wasn't as clear as I thought...I had been under the impression that the pressure regulator was able to INCREASE fuel pressure above the base pressure by restricting it, and in the case of a bypass type regulator, it could either restrict it to increase pressure (according to how I was viewing it) or allow the fuel to bypass to reduce pressure. Part of what was causing this is the fact that I have seen few pumps advertised as having much higher pressure than 45psi. For instance, the aeromotive A1000 is a common EFI upgrade pump, and it is advertised as flowing 600lbs per hour at 45psi, and the A1000 bypass regulator is advertised as being able to be adjusted from a base pressure of 30psi to 70psi, and then still allowing boost to increase pressure at a 1:1 ratio, and it says it was "designed specifically for use with our a1000 fuel pump" which should only allow you to have a maximum system pressure of 45psi... http://www.aeromotiveinc.com/pdetail.php?prod=3 http://www.aeromotiveinc.com/pdetail.php?prod=11

did somebody say "transformer?" where do I sign up?

How does this explain the old "put a socket over the vacuum line on your efi pressure regulator, and tap it with a hammer until the pressure goes up" method of increasing fuel pressure? Big_Phil said he got his up to 50psi or so, and I've heard other stories like that, but isn't base fuel pressure something like 45psi with a factory pump? I know mine is, since that's what it did with a pressure regulator screwed into my fuel rail and nothing running but the fuel pump...If I read your explanation correctly, I shouldn't be able to increase fuel pressure at the fuel rail higher than the stock pump will provide? Oh, wait a sec, the fuel rail comes before the regulator on the efi setup...so that would still work with the way you explained it...disregard question, just thinking out loud.

Hey, I already used that one on the snakes on a plane thread! Party foul! (for the record, snakes on a TRAIN is in the contention for worst movie I've seen this year...I have to qualify that with this year because I've seen some BAD movies over the years...) -

My personal preference is the bigger of the two whale tails, but that's just because I like the look. Seems like most of the race cars used the whale tail (280zx's anyway) in one form or another. There was a lengthy thread about aerodynamics and drag on S30s some time ago, but I don't remember anyone really getting too into the S130 besides mentioning it solved some of the problems inherent to the S30, and I want to say that most of the spoiler discussions I've seen focused on the duck bill BRE style. -

I blame Honda for popularizing white as the color of sports cars. Championship white just looks so hard on the Type R models...I'm thinking I'll eventually paint my car pearl white. -

My Z only cost me $200 from a friend, and the guy HE got it from literally just gave it to him for nothing...I like these models though, I think the idea was great. -
no, creating a restriction is how they increase pressure. The basically pinch the line to bring the pressure up. This reduces the flow volume, but increases the fuel pressure. Think of putting your thumb over the end of a hose to make it shoot out further. That's due to the pressure increase. How you would reduce pressure with a device like that without a bleed off escapes me.

That big tube on the right is the expansion chamber. I think they got around the oil pump by using an Aerocharger that has it's own supply of oil that you change every so often...It looks a lot like those rear mount turbo systems for cars.

Looks a lot like the Pinks hood. Lookin good there, Icice9!

I bought one of the Tokico 1" drop spring/strut combos from Ebay for $400 or so. It sits pretty nice, but it doesn't look especially low. My car has 17" wheels as well, but I don't have a v-8 yet. The extra weight would probably give you a bit more rake in the front than what I've got if you did the same setup as me.

that's funny! I saw a guy with a Starlet once that was using a chain as a passenger side motor mount...you guys must be related. -

That dash isn't crack free, it's just got a full cap on it. Here's the snake, I didn't get him out until we got to civilization (actually, I didn't even know he was there until i started stripping out the interior, and he was right in my face when I leaned over to open the passenger door) -

Uncanny how much that looks like my car did before I brought it home...except mine had a snake living in it... -
The WotW reference was most definitely a joke, but now that you mention it, a Flux Capacitor might be something useful to have in the event of a disruption of the space time continuum...While we are using movie science, we could just upload a computer virus to the alien computers from a Macintosh laptop to prevent the invasion, or maybe just use an inverse tachyon pulse to cancel out any ill effects of a nuclear blast...this was all in good fun, triggered by the seemingly outlandish nature of Hoohaa's request...I'm not mad at ya wheelman, no harm no foul, but I was pretty sure it would be impossible to mistake that for anything but a joke... I'm pretty sure that there is more to EMP protection than special paint, just like there is more to stealth than radar absorbing paint (in fact, it is almost totally dependant on shape in the case of stealth).
