  1. Your drawing has come a long way since the last time I was following your threads! Looks pretty good. From that angle, you'd probably be getting some illumination of the hood/fascia details, but I think these lights are the best ones I've seen so far from your designs in terms of shape and proportion. Any progress with the rest of the widebody kit?
  2. I would say no offhand, since these aren't very well known vehicles. "Rice" probably has more to do with the JGTC series, and to a lesser extent the WRC, since that's where the types of cars normally associated with the look you're describing are being built with wild bodykits and big wheels (not so much WRC, but they do have some creative spoilers). And as for being on a cheesy early 80's show, in the early 80's when these were built, that was the aesthetic so they were probably pretty exotic when put in context. They are dated, but so is a stock z. You can almost always tell what era a car was built in at a glance. I think it's part of the charm of these cars that they are so Miami Vice... *edit* And it really makes me happy to hear that the white car, which is my favorite anyway, was actually fast!
  3. I need to see it from rear and front 3/4 view to make that call. It's going to depend on what the sides of the spoiler look like with the rest of the body lines. Offhand, from following the old widebody thread, I'd say extend the super gt spoiler back, and lower it down a little to balance out the long front end...
  4. But your car LOOKS so fast just sitting there! It's like that commercial for the celica with the factory bodykit where the cop goes sailing past because he thinks it's speeding, when really it's parked on the side of the road not going anywhere? Yeah, that's the stuff...Kinda like how my car is going to be after I get myself a whale tail and front spoiler...
  5. I've got the same problem, but when it happened to me, my car ended up with camoflage stripes...don't know which is worse....
  6. When is this coming to my local arcade!? http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news-10735-Robot+PacMan+(IREX+2005).html
  7. I'm glad you brought these cars up, even if you were mostly showing the Z32. I never knew these existed to even search for them, so this is pretty cool getting to look into something new. The rear flares remind me of the red Monza Mystery Z from the non-tech board we were all looking at a few months back.
  8. If you decide to go camo, let me know, I'll hook you up with some stencils! (sorry, I couldn't resist trying to recruit somebody else into hopping on my crazy train!)
  9. Yeah, that's not the place to put suspect fabrication, that's for sure. Is there any way to fab one up and have it load tested on a bench first? I assume like most people cost IS an object for you, but if it's not too much to have it tested in some way?
  10. I just can't believe I've never seen that car around town, it's pretty hard to miss. I think I like that Jim Cook Racing body kit. Good find, man.
  11. Cozy, are those Z's accounted for, or lost to the sands of time? Just curious if they are still kicking out there somewhere.
  12. What if you filled the hollow part with some of that structural foam, like they used on the Q45? Not stiff enough? Plus I rather thought you'd be welding the back of it too where it sticks through. Are these steel, or aluminum? (would you even be able to weld them straight to the control arm i guess?)
  13. Previous owner had the automatic, but left the clutch pedal in? That's odd, it's not really that hard to take out. I added one in to mine, since my car came as an auto. Looks like the clutch master is even still there...Was this a running car before he sold it to you, or did the guy get fed up during the build process?
  14. Jon, could you grind out enough clearance to let just the back corner of the threaded tube to stick out, and then make a plate to box in the front of the open control arm? I photoshopped (rather poorly I'm ashamed to say, I'm not really good with this program yet) this up to show what I'm talking about:
  15. I think the materials list is only referring to the Z32...
  16. Oldestzguy, I understand your point of view. I like your old car, and I expect big things from your next car. As they say, there's no accounting for taste (meaning mine, yours, whoevers), so like what you like, build what you build, just have fun with it. Personally, reading this guy's buildup of his Z32, I suspect these 240z's were probably way underpowered to support that look, but since there is no info, I can't be sure. I'm not at all fond of the z32 he has, but I like these 240's he did for some reason. They remind me of the old sterling kit cars in the front. Plus I always liked the front spoiler countach's as a kid.
  17. Just imagine that front spoiler, with a whale tale in the back, camo stripe down the center...Oh yeah, camo zzzap might be getting a makeover.
  18. These cars are the business! I love the front spoiler!
  19. Am I the only one that likes the cow pusher? I think it gives it that extra something...what the french call: I don't know what...
  20. There's a car very similar to that here in Tampa. It has the steel hood with louvers all over the whole thing that I've been trying to find forever and a t3-04 turbo. The whole thing is pearl white, looks really serious. I like that car alot. I've only seen it the one time up at Z-docs (local Z shop) having some kind of work done.
  21. Some of the steering angle problem may be because of the seat position on the z giving you a false sense of yaw. I read an article describing how a driver from the D1 series was given a new car by his sponsor, and it took a long time to adjust because the new car had it's driver's position set back from the original car, and the driver felt like he was getting more angle than he actually was. Just a thought, because being so close to the rear end of the z makes any swinging out seem much more dramatic than it may actually end up being.
  22. I'm not sure if that tire will work. I tried a 235/40-17 I believe it was on a 17X7, and it would rub for sure during 3-point parking maneuvers. Where are you getting the spacers? that's about 1.25", if you get a 1.5" like I've got I know for a fact the +38mm will work without the extra spacer since that's what I'm using...
