  1. It's harder to turbocharge su's with a blowthrough setup than the webers(superior in that it allows you to use an intercooler), but it is possible to do a single draw-through setup by making a plenum with a single entry to replace your su's on the manifold, and mounting your single su in front of the turbo. It's just so cheap and easy (junkyard/ebay shopping) to get the fuel injection stuff that it seems silly to do it with carbs anymore. Since nissan made the L28et so easy to swap parts from, you shouldn't have to fabricate too much to get it to work. However, using a draw through su would mean that you wouldn't have to change your fuel pump, but you would still need the turbo/manifold, oil feed/return lines-turbo or modified NA oil pan, and whatever adapter you would plan to used to mount the carb to the turbo as well as the associated plumbing. Somebody posted an ebay ad for an old system like this last week sometime, you should be able to find it if you search around. All said and done, if your goal is more for hp per $ than period correct/wow factor, your time and money would probably be better spent on getting the parts you need from a ZXT and using a Megasquirt ecu to control it than using the carb system.
  2. huh. Learn something new every day...I would buy that switch as being factory (or at least dealer) because it's exactly the way I would expect it to look if it did come from nissan, but none of 260zjade's switches look anything like that, you can see they are drilled through the block off plate, whereas the one you posted replaces that entire piece with one that looks integrated. Whatever though, no need to argue about it. I'm not trying to be "that guy" that beats a dead horse for three pages. 260zjade, based on the sheer number and general level of installation quality of these switches, I'd suggest considering them all junk until proven otherwise. Whatever these switches USED to be for, you probably shouldn't trust them to be anything useful until you verify the rest of their wiring.
  3. Both my 78's and my current 77 (not to mention every other z I've ever come across in the boneyard) had blank squares...Didn't mean to come off as combative. I'm pretty sure that the power antenna switch was a dealer or owner installed option, not factory. I know I had dealer AC, and it didn't look all that professional either (a rotary switch screwed to the side of the console?) so it wouldn't surprise me to find out that's the story behind the mystery switch.
  4. Hey everybody, I know the camo zzzap! is kind of old news, but I just got done with stage one of operation: matching camo valve cover. My wife went to a concert in orlando with the digital camera though, so I'll have to wait until another time to put up some pictures. I've still got to wait for this coat to dry so I can add the wrinkle finish black around the nissan turbo part... Plus I was hoping to shame chewievette into finishing the Camo BRE clone by bringing this thread full of all his old hopes and dreams back up.
  5. Call a local wheel shop, see what they've got. Check Ebay, they turn up there every so often. Try to cut out the middle man and see if a local machine shop could just turn you some on the lathe. Find some wheels that fit correctly, and leave the adapters off...the possibilities are endless!
  6. Hey Brad, if you need help coming up with paint scheme ideas, you know who to call. I think my track record speaks for itself (hey, who threw that?! Doesn't anyone appreciate good art around here?! -silence- Fine! I'll just take my spray paint cans and go home.)
  7. yeah but look at the shoddy install..plus, those totally look like radio shack switches. anything factory should be labeled and professional, just like the hazard switch.
  8. It's not a bad design really, the guy just seems pretty flakey...
  9. Looks more like a deformed maverick, crossed with a gen 1 rwd ford escort, but it think they are really sweet cars. The six cylnder cars sound super euro...
  10. 235/45-17's rubbed on my car in the front, but if you roll the fenders, it may work ok... By the way, what are you going to do with the ninja star wheels you've got there?
  11. Looks like there's some funny business going on with the headlight buckets on that car...maybe it's just the odd fitment of that front fascia. I like the bulky look. It came from the 80's, might as well embrace it with the old school flava bodykit...
  12. Previous owner special, all the way. Not factory at all. That red thing that looks like a volvo hazard switch is supposed to be a blank square, and the other two should be a slightly larger blank square.
  13. Any KA24 throttle body should do, I went for the front wheel drive nissan stanza throttle body, since it has the throttle flyhweel on the correct side. All the 240sx ones that I saw in the boneyard were backwards...I don't know if everybody is flipping them upside down or what, but mine works great, and is the same size as those. I'm sure the pickup engine is the same as the 240sx.
  14. Trust me, you do NOT want my home-made turbo manifold...I'm actually going to cut it off the flange and start over. (In case anyone was wondering: not as easy as it looks) Cool videos, that GTR one played out about how I thought it would.
  15. What picture are you guys looking at? the only one I saw had this manifold laying on a wooden counter or floor or something...
  16. There are all kinds of measurement converters online...just google "standard to metric" or something like that. I do it all the time.
  17. Those came with locking gas caps? I thought those were all aftermarket additions...I just deleted my gas cap altogether and have a fuel cell in the trunk...
  18. Here's a picture of the intercooler in question for anyone that doesn't know what we're talking about, with an N42 cylinder head thrown in for scale. This is a little tableau from a play that I like to call: "The fastest closet in Tampa" : And here it is with the end tank chrome cover removed: and here is a picture of the hood in question: *edit* Just some trivia: that intercooler cost me $40, the garrett t-04 cost me $50 (bought local from friends), and the ssautojunk wastegate you see there cost me $100 off ebay.
  19. I liked it too...just needed some side skirts and a diffuser...
  20. The car mine came from had a hole cut out. Problem was, he didn't bother to use a scoop or duct of any kind, so I'm pretty sure it was an interHEATER after a few minutes of driving. Even with all that he still had a 12.98 sec pass in the 1/4 mile, so go figure...There was a real live Pulsar GTi-R creeping around tampa for awhile...talk about an ugly car full of good parts...This same guy's brother has a 98 sentra with the same bluebird turbo components as you, only he's using a JWT front mount. His car will spin tires in 4th gear from flooring the gas-not even dropping the clutch. Feels really fast. For the record, I suspect the intercooler is the reason for the crazy looking vented hood, but that's neither here nor there...
  21. You've definitely got SOMETHING flaking off that valve...Is there any scoring on that piston? I meant to bring it up earlier, I've seen gasket stacking a few times, I think it's an attempt to cut down on the leaking due to flange warpage. I'm not sure if it works or not, but some people seem to think so.
  22. By the way, is that a bluebird swap, or a pulsar swap? That intercooler doesn't look the same as the one I've got...
  23. I heard it had an L28et with a twin cam head.
