  1. Naaah that's not my house not enough garage space they have a 2 car I've got a three car side entry. My house
  2. All right all ready!!! I just created an account over at resizeme.com and will snap some tonight and get them posted. I have some on Yahoo try this: http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/dsommer479/my_photos If not check it out tomorrow for more pics at the resizeme address I'll post. ds
  3. Just got off the phone with the wife she took the Cobra out yesterday, burned the back of her leg on the exhaust (told her many times about that) then swore she wouldn't drive it anymore. Well she was driving it down the road with my niece and guess what??? She discovered the gas guage doesn't work. Nice that my 17 year old niece was with her she works at Hooters (she "fits" the job well haha) she had some guy stopped (probably in record time haha) and he gave them some gas, my wife said she almost peed her pants because she thought some thing more serious was wrong. Well at least I didn't have to find out the hard way that the guage doesn't work, I'd still be standing on the side of the road.
  4. Thanks for the sugguestions guys. Only got 3 pics up so here the address: http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/dsommer479/my_photos Hope it works if not could somebody host one for me and post it here? ds
  5. Sphincter tightening when she drove off in it. It’s quite tame compared to the Z which she drove back and forth into the garage while I took the Cobra back to work!!! (Tear in eye) She rearranged the garage so all the cars would fit (sniff, sniff) Finally 3 cars in a 3 car garage. As far as price, I was looking at two C-5 Vettes (1998 and a 1999) convertibles both low mileage, loaded cars. I just couldn’t see myself taking that big of a hit when I get ready to sell. The Cobra will be worth just as much a year from now and possibly a little more if I take care of it which I intend to do. I don’t think I’ll race it just show it a little and enjoy tooling around in it. Anybody care to come up with a vanity plate for me? Right now I’m thinking BAD ASP BillZ260, drive your butt over here and come see the Z and the Cobra. Shoot come over this Saturday we’re having a Z run down the pig trail in the morning. You can ride shotgun in the Z if you’d like!!! Might even let you drive some. ds
  6. Factory Five Racing #1606. Totally turn key. Blue with silver stipes, 5.0 EFI Edelbrock alum heads and intake. Ford motor sports B cam. BBK throttle body, 17†Compomotive wheels (275/40/17 out back 245/40/17 up front) tubular control arms, NEW WC T-5, auburn diff, the list goes on and on. I saw the post on the FFRcorbra.com board and e-mail the guy. He said he would snail mail me pic well OK. They got here last Friday and when I saw them I was like WOW. Left work early went home and showed the wife she said it looked great. Saturday morning I left the house for a 7 hour drive to east Texas where the car was. In a shop in the middle of nowhere on a prairie with a huge pond (beautiful area!!!) this guy opens the overhead door and OMG it’s gorgeous. I didn’t even try to negotiate with him on price because it was priced fairly. He also delivered the car yesterday for a paltry $250 all the way up here to NW Arkansas. One of the best parts is I'm keeping my Z too!!! Wife was supportive of me getting the car so everybody is happy. Shoot the guy rolled it out of the enclosed trailer Lisa jumped in it and took off around the neighborhood as he and I closed the deal. What a woman. After driving it though I feel the Z is still quicker than the Cobra but the Cobra is smoother and more refined feeling. We’ll see what happens when I put the CV’s under the Z. One happy guy, David will post pics and link tomorrow, if I can find the digi cam.
  7. A “deal†the perception of the buyer. My car is worth... a roll of pennies...to my wife
  8. Way to go Terry!!! By the way I love SNAKES!!!! Hmmm.....
  9. Come on now guy’s you’ve made a mockery out of one of our brothers wanting to take on a new challenge. I’m some what disappointed. We build, we sweat, we bleed, we cuss, we cry (on occasion) we…well you get the point. Take away what you can from Tim, Terry and whom ever else has built and documented their HybridZ and be thankful for the knowledge they have and still are providing to our small community. If this is one of the few sites you visit on a daily basis you may think that a HybridZ is the holy grail of cars, sorry to burst you bubble it isn’t. There are Vipers and Vettes, NSX’s and Cobras, S2000’s Camaros, Trans Am’s just to name a few don’t forget the almighty SKYLINE. My point is do what you love and listen to others ideas, as long as they aren’t blowing smoke up your bung hole. Be an individual, we have already separated ourselves from others by building the Z into a rip snorting ground hammering world class (IMHO) sports car PERIOD. So if somebody wants to leave and pursue a new challenge, wish them well, give them your support and all ways welcome them back home here to HybridZ. Remember, they are the ones that FINISHED their cars. We are in fact a minority group just as the old Datsun ad states. Do what ya need to do Tim!!!! David
  10. Tim, I support your stand on wanting to sell it. To some guys it’s about the build not so much as the drive. I’m kind of like Tim. Although my car is nowhere near the quality of Tims car it’s practically done except for paint and little things here and there. The car begs to be driven but I find little time to do so. I was really pumped after the Branson Zfest and was looking forward to the next meet. But then it sets in, no body around here wants to cruise, if I need to go to the store it’s much easier to drive the truck so forth and so on. Am I going to sell my Z? No, not yet anyway. Am I going to get another “project†? Maybe this fall I don’t know. What I really want right now is a Cobra but should I buy a turn key or a builder, do I want to wrench or not. I’m leaning toward not at this point, not until I get a shop which means a move to another house where I can build one. So I’ll keep my wrench car for now (the Z) and maybe buy a vette (convertible) or a turn key Cobra we’ll see. Tim I wish you luck on selling it and no I wouldn’t put a price down either because you can’t put a price on such a car except for in your mind. I know what price I’d be willing to pay if I was in the market, a bit north of a complete big block Cobra with all the add on’s…If you guys want to know the price…go fish David
  11. Bill, My engine is a solid roller, setting lash is easy just as long as you can easily get the rocker covers off. I would recommend setting lash approx every other oil change just to keep it in good tune. Remember when running solid cams you get every thing out of the cam (lift) all the time. Sounds like a street able setup though with 375HP and 400TQ. DD on my engine was like 404HP and I can’t remember the est TQ. That was with Trick Flow heads though. We are having a Z car day at Superior Nissan this weekend in Fayetteville, AR if you want to come check out my car come on over. ds
  12. Having ridden in Phantoms (Bill) car I must say that it is a well thought out well executed ride. All of his points and decisions are well founded. As far as a daily driver there is no way I could do that with my car, NO A/C in the summer time being the biggest downfall. The 5pt harnesses are a pain in the rear (but they look cool Shoot Bill and the girls were waiting on me to get buckeled up before leaving BransonZfest it took so long they were wondering if I was ready to go home or not haha. Bills car is an excellet balance of power and agility. The right parts at the right places. BTW Bill I drove my car to work to day. First drive since we came back from Branson, can you believe that??? ds
  13. Up here they can because it's the only place to shop for groceries etc. I live in Rogers, AR and the Wal-Mart home office is in Bentonville which actually joins Rogers to the northwest. Many of the people up here work for vendors to W-M like myself. Don't worry there is plenty of $$$ floating around these towns for boats, cars, cycles, toys etc... ds
  14. Bill sounds neat but you need to get back to work on that car!!! David
  15. Mike it's a 24 footer, deep open bow. It's a big boat rides high and dry and looks sharp!!! My wife and I scrubbed the interior of the boat with Mr. Clean erasers (these erasers do an incredible job on vinyl!!! They get the worked in dirt OUT the inside of the boat has never looked this good since I’ve owned it). The interior only has one area of concern on the aft sundeck where the seam has the stitching separated about 1†however it’s not torn or ripped. The exterior has just been buffed and waxed, the oil has just been changed, major electrical tune up last year, out drive water pump just replaced. I have all receipts for maintenance on the boat from the prior owner and myself, so it’s a well documented boat. Additionally I’m throwing in skis, vests, life jackets, ropes, fun tube, throw cushions, fire extinguisher first-aid kit, anchor all trailer tie downs a new battery as of Wednesday and $50 worth of premium gas. Quibble over $350? At this point you bet. The boat has to be seen in person then you’d understand why I’m stuck on my price. If they don’t want it well they’ll see it on the lake sometime this summer either driven by me or some other lucky owner. As the weather get warmer I'm sure somebody will buy it. Tomorrow morning I'm going to park it across the street from the Wal-Mart entrance in an empty parking lot, that should raise some interest ds
  16. I’m selling my boat and have shown it to a few people. First question I ask them is if the boat is in their price range (asking $18995). One couple told me the boat was in the lower dollar figure of their price range and then called me back and offered 15K for it!!! WHAT???? This was after the clod got in my boat with friggin’ work boots on covered with dried mud, and to top it off his wife was 7 months pregnant. I personally wouldn’t take a pregnant woman out on a boat due to all the bouncing around can’t be good for the woman or the baby, I don’t know that’s just my opinion. Next couple comes and looks at it on Tuesday. They like it, it’s in their price range, we take it on a lake run Wednesday, and they still like it. I have him put it up on the trailer and pull them out of the water and drive to the back side of the parking lot were they can take their time looking over the boat and make me a serious offer… She asks me “so are you going to miss your boat?†Me “well my life is going in a different direction right now so I don’t have time for it, I don’t have to sell it but I thought somebody else would enjoy such a great boat.†She (she is doing the dealing now not HIM, OK, that’s fine) “what is your bottom dollar for the boat?†Me “$18,850.†She “OH that’s like $850 more than we wanted to spend.†I told them to look at that NADA paper work I gave them, the low on the BOAT is 16,150 average is 19,500 which does not include the trailer. So they counter with 18,500.00, I tell them NO the bottom price is $18,850.00 then he starts hem hawing about if the 4 Runner they have is big enough to even pull the boat and he wants to go to the gym. I’m like sleep on, it call me, I have plenty of other folks wanting to see the boat. Honestly I don’t have to sell the boat but I’m not going to give it away either!!! Give me your opinion here is a link to the pics, GO TO THE SLIDE SHOW, something is wrong with yahoo site I’m not sure what it is. Or am I just off my rocker???? http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/ldsommer/album?.tok=ph0kvCBBgkoROWzY&.dirurl]=/My+Photos&.src=ph
  17. Yeah I've got about 12K in my car aw I'm kidding myself at this point it's probably closer to 15K+. Shoulda built a Cobra, but back in 2000 I didn't have the $$$ to afford 20K for a kit. So I got a Z instead, now that I'm finishing up the Z I'm looking around for something else. I guess it's not really the driving of the cars but the work I put into them. Looked at a 68 Camaro RS/SS the other day and a 64 Vette too. Both decent cars but the vette was just a tad out of my price range and the RS/SS just didn't trip my trigger. So I'll keep looking and sit on my $$$ and enjoy the Z for now. But if I ever find a car that I MUST have I know I can get. Yes I am looking at Cobras because nothing SCREAMS performance more than those cars IMHO. David
  18. I don't ever remember seeing this many HybridZ's on E-bay before!!! LT-1 car!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6187&item=2477350655&rd=1 This ones been out there before Purple w/blower!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6187&item=2477124868&rd=1 Rough looking, scarab position but hey 350 is in there!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6187&item=2477217660&rd=1 1976 w/3 hole intake http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6187&item=2476264379&rd=1 I couldn't find the 2+2 Scarab that was out there for $9995 but it is on Trader on line if you search. ds
  19. I would say slot them. It makes it easier to line up the motor mounts when dropping in the engine. Slotting these holes, removing the OEM tranny mounts and removing the spindle pins from the rear end is a right of passage to V-8 nirvana David
  20. Cobras are GRRRRReat!!! I always wanted one but built a Z instead. Money was an issue at the time, now however I'm starting to "think" about it again. ds
  21. Of course it did... DA should have bet the horse to SHOW not WIN!!!
  22. Seems that it might be a 302 w/4bolt mains!!! Wow that puppy could be worth some $$$ if it's rebuildable. What you should do is try to find the car the engine originally came out of. Drop me a PM and I'll get you in touch with sombody that know's 1gen Camaros like the back of his hand. If the car is on a historic registry then you may be able to contact the owner, who in turn could have his numbers matching car again, for a price David
  23. Way to go Bill!!! Now if you can just find a decent engine. Are you mocking everything up ie motor mounts tranny X member etc?
  24. It's nice but I'd go get the green one which you've dumped all the $$$ into. Keep the Ranger for moving "stuff", buy the blue one and set it aside for later. d
