What a DEAL!!!
-
There it is, I mean how and why would you attempt the install if you didn't have the book. Remember going to school and not having a book for class? It really didn't make sense to be there if you couldn't see formulas in math class or read theroies in physics. The JTR book has all the drawings and measurements of the set back plates, cross member etc. It even supplys you with part numbers for some GM parts that you WILL need. Also included are pictures of right and wrong ways to go about the install. It just seems that some people want to drop in a V-8 and go, it's not that simple. Save up $50 buy the book and you'll be light years ahead of where you are now. See if you had the book you would know about removing the X member mounts from the tunnel and what the JTR X member looks like. Post up some pics so we can see what you've done we're willing to help but you've got to be willing to help yourself too. JTR set back position

This has GOT to be the funniest post I've read in a while ROTFLMAO!!!!! 9" from the firewall, drop the X member, where in the heck is the radiator going to fit in? How would the stock x member work anyway? NO JTR manual now that is scarry!!!

OK had to read the HybridZ mission statement again... You can use the stock rearend however I would upgrade to an R-200 out of a 280Z. Your car is currently equiped (if stock) with an R-180. 180 and 200 are the ring gear diamater in milimeters. If you put serious power down you will destroy the R-180, promise. LT-1 do a search there have been a few done, as with the LS-1. Welcome to the board and good luck, remember we're here to help. David

Yes that is exactally what ALL of us do here is we weld in what ever rear end we like. Ford 9" 12bolt GM what ever. Solid mount is best you'll save BIG $$$ because you don't need things like shocks or bushings. Most of us don't use rear brakes either just the fronts for items like line locks so we can fry the rear tires. A lot of guys just dump in the LT-1 engines too it's so simple my little sister did one over the weekend and drove it to school on Monday. Sorry hybridz guys I just couldn't resist. 71Datsun240zMN use the search function

Had a chat with the wife last night over the sorry state of the garage. We need a clean, organized area for our cars (3 car garage 700 + ft2 3 bay) The garage currently houses the Z and the Cobra. I had a fellow come by to take measurements of the current digs and provide input. I told him what I wanted he made sugguestions and we're moving forward. I told him I really like the race deck flooring but Lisa likes the epoxy flooring (hmmm wife has input ya know ) Soooo Here's what I'm looking at: MDF cabinets along 3 walls Built in work bench 9' long Space saver walling (sp) Epoxy/paint chip flooring He's going to give me some CAD drawings next week, I'm so pumped about this project. As he was measuring etc I told him what "feel" I was wanting. I want an area that is "home" for my cars (Z and Cobra) I want to mount a 25" TV with a DVD and VCR and stereo system. I want it to be a gathering place for car guys high top table and bar stools, memobrial (sp) on the walls etc. I think he got the point. I'll update with pic soon. David

Mosey on over to Rogers, AR, take a ride in my Z and then decide. I've been offering you this "deal" for a while now. Come on over Bill. David -
Looks real to me. Female eagles are lager than males. Now lets see here, if the cat jumps the eagle it looks as if the ground behind them is quite a drop (note the power line in the background). Last time I checked cats can't fly so I would give the advatage to the bird on this one. Cat claws are sharp, talons on the other hand, uh no thanks.

So you'll be at the big KC meeting over the weekend then right? Don't know if Lisa and I are going to make it, it's all still up in the air at this time. David

Now let it be known I do not condone street racing, this was more like a back county road race. I was taking the Z out for it’s weekly drive (or it gets jealous of the Cobra) and was just tooling along thinking how different the Z feels compared to the Cobra. I was sitting at a stop sign when a 74 vette rolled by. Nothing special, and I didn’t think he wanted to run so I followed him at the speed limit until we got out side the little town we were in. Out side town the guy punches it so I down shift from 5th to 3rd and stomp it. I had to let off pretty quickly because I was about to run up his tail pipes. He was staying in it so I eased on the gas again and set the car right behind him. Into the turn (right, small straight then left) I starting thinking hmmm did this guy rebuild his suspension the way I did? Nope, he stands on the brakes and then gets on it again, brakes for the left hand turn and into a straight, that’s where I make my move. Shift into 3rd and stomp it. I went flying past the vette like he was standing still, I know he was on it because his turbo mufflers were making that rattling, I’m on it all the way sound. I pulled over to see if he was willing to chat but he just went on down the road, probably scratching his head on how a Datsun 240Z just stuck it to him in a baaaad way.

Mike and Dale please accept my condolences on the loss of your loved ones. My heart goes out to each of you. I too know what it’s like to grieve; I lost my wife almost 2 years ago, taking her own life me having to find her. Present day finds me remarried but something is wrong, I get angry easily, have a low opinion of my employer (used to be a good relationship) and kind of a “don’t give a crap†attitude. Problem? You bet. I’m making everybody around me miserable. Diagnosis, depression. After my late wife’s passing I saw a counselor one time. The fellow explained to me what Kevin did in a previous post. That didn’t help. Last week I started seeing another counselor. She is more “in tune†with what is going on in my head. I used to dismiss counseling as a bunch of BUNK, not anymore. Please, both of you go see a third party NOT necessarily clergy either (yes I believe in God) but go see a trained professional, they will help you place things in perspective. God be with you and I will pray for both of you. David

Oh by the way, if she is up to it... I told Lisa she could autoX the Z. She said she has no problem NOT lifting her foot off the go pedal in turns haha. I can fix it if she breaks it... ds -
place to run that Hybrid Chevy Zcar

The way things are looking "at this point" I'm going to "try" to be there. Branson Z fest was a blast, great folks, good times. David -
Thanks for all the compliments guys. I drove it down the mountain with the Z club over the weekend. What a blast. As far as quality and drivability. Quality, I can find nothing wrong with this car it is solid, the frame is made out of 4’ round tubing the remainder is square tubing. It is solid. The engine is a .30 over EFI with forged slugs, Edelbrock intake (upper and lower) BBK throttle body B-cam (Ford) equal length headers. The gentleman that built it said every nut and bolt that he used on this car were new, I believe him. Body quality is what you put into prep, finishing and paint work. The fellow initially ordered a carbon fiber body and the quality according to him “sucked†so he loaded the body up on a trailer drove from Texas to Massachusetts hand picked this one out and drove it back to Texas, round about 3K miles, he was a bit miffed at FFR for the lousy CF work. He said in some places the body was paper thin other areas were 1†thick. That was one of their first ones so QC wasn’t up to par. He told me he put around 40K in this car and I can see how. He purchased all replacement parts from the local Ford house. This car was a non-donor build. Tubular control arms were an upgrade from FFR, new WC T-5 tranny, Auburn rear-end and new ring and pinion. Can you use it as a daily driver? We’ll I guess you could if you didn’t mind getting wet, hot and smelling like some exhaust and slowly going deaf (on longer “drives†I wear earplugs) Engine heat is present it's hot in there almost uncomfortable. But come on it's modled after a race car, throw the Simpson harness over your shoulders straping yourself you almost feel like you're about to start a race I’m 6’2†and a bit cramped in the cockpit my feet (size 13 shoe) kinda gets on two pedals at once if I don’t pay attention. The car will cruise at 80 and seems rock solid. I had it going around 110 yesterday and it wanted more. As far as pics let me see what I can do on that, I’m working on getting a new digi cam (the one I used was from work it’s OK but not as good as I’d like) Plus it was overcast outside. I’ll try again on a nice sunny day. Aux pics of my niece haha let me run the car up to Hooters and have the girls come out for a pic with the car and I’ll post here. David
