  1. Still going for me too. Feels like about one a day. This is starting to get annoying.
  2. Yup. 19 years old, no experience mentioned, and taking on something that even most experienced fabricators would find difficult. On top of that, the questions being asked here suggest that this project is way out of his league. IMO this is one of those things where if you have to ask, the answer is no. I understand being young and ambitious, having been there and done that, but I really doubt this project will ever get past the stage of cutting the chassis up to fit everything. Start smaller, get yourself some skills and experience - and maybe a reference for just how much work this is going to be - and then after you've done that, consider doing this project. It's easy to watch someone online turn a stock Z into a track monster, but when you try doing it yourself, you realize that what you see online is just the highlight reel, and the hard part was mostly left out of the pictures. Some people may have a natural talent for these things, and will actually have some success just diving in and going for it, but those people are rare, and you shouldn't assume that you're one of them. So basically if anyone comes in here and and they aren't cheering you on, you're going to ignore them? Listening to only the advice you like isn't going to get you very far. And again, you're 19. You just haven't had much time to gain experience and knowledge. Of course people are going to doubt that. It would be foolish to think otherwise.
  3. I dunno man, if I'm gonna flip off someone in an SUV, I think I'd pick someone in a Cayenne. A new Range Rover would be my second choice.
  4. Are Land Rovers under consideration? LR3/LR4 and Range Rover should have similar towing capacity to the Cayenne.
  5. Damn. Sorry. Looks like the cage did it's job. Definitely a good thing you went off there as opposed to on a section where it's just a straight drop off - yikes.
  6. My donation expired a week ago. I received a PM telling me so. I've also received an additional four PMs telling me the same thing, the latest being half an hour ago. I'm assuming the automated messenger is busted. Just FYI.
  7. I've browsed the reddit Datsun group a few times, I'd say it's about as good as the FB group, only on a better platform. Too much trendiness, bad advice, and misinformation.
  8. I'm a couple years older, and I've noticed the same. A lot less FB activity among my age group. I have a browser add on that allows me to filter FB, otherwise I would have quit it ages ago. It's unusable without it.
  9. I'd pay that and not regret it for a second. That car is ridiculously clean.
  10. He was talking about the year of the car. And he is saying that it isn't newer than 78 ie, not a ZX.
  11. Pretty sure I know who that is. Just have to find him. LS swap, right? Got it: http://www.pro-touring.com/threads/107091-quot-Mechanix-Menace-quot-An-LS7-motivated-chopped-and-heavily-modified-1973-Datsun-240Z Is that him? Not Finnish though.
  12. I think he ran out of money. He popped back up a few years ago after a long silence, but nothing since then. Wrong country anyway.
  13. As I said in my post, if you keep a topic going on more than one forum, you end up doing twice the work when posting images if you post on two forums, 3x for three forums, etc. It isn't that convenient. The benefit of using an external image host is that you can type up a post, and literally just copy/paste onto other forums. Only minimal additional effort to post on multiple forums that way vs just one. Also, while I haven't used forum image hosting in years, my experience then was that it's kind of a pain to do compared to image hosting sites. The good ones make it really easy to upload and resize in bulk. There's a good reason why they're popular. You say "just edit the posts" as though it would be simple, but when talking about hundreds of posts in a build thread, that is a seriously time consuming effort. You also have to remember which post had which images (because the old photos don't show anymore), and then get them all in the right order. Not a small task, it's quite tedious.
  14. Jokes on them. I just deleted my account. Apparently I had been on there since May 15th 2006 - 11 years and change. It started going down not long after I joined, maybe a year or two. I can't recall the last time I was on a slower site - even their own site was faster before disallowing ad blockers - and I'm surprised my browser didn't crash in the process of saving things (because I'd rather save and sort on my PC than on their POS site). What a nightmare. Not sure where to go next. IMGur is good, and easy to use, but I don't know how long they'll last in the long term - 10+ years. Flickr I'm not sure about since Yahoo is changing hands. Those are the main two that I know of. I may just not bother with any site. Uploading to the forum is kind of annoying, especially if you maintain threads on multiple sites with the same info, but as long as the site is up, the images will be too.
  15. As I said in your thread, photobucket has been going downhill for years now - probably for the last 10 years. I noticed in a thread on another site, all the guy's pics were down, probably for the same reason. Between this, and them forcing me to turn off my ad blocker so they can force their obnoxious ads down my throat, I'm done with them. I'm gonna go through what I have on there, and delete everything. Fortunately I don't post pics very often, so the hit on the forums won't be too bad. Unfortunately, half of the internet has their pictures hosted on there still. Just went to their site, and it feels like 2003 again when popup ads were still a thing. Ads ******* everywhere, can barely even see the page. Photobucket can go **** themselves.
  16. Photobucket has been going down the tube for years. People seem to like imgur and flickr, but who knows how long they'll be around. Might be best to just use the site to host, honestly.
  17. Sometimes we get people on here (like me when I was younger) who think they're going to turn some rusty POS into a 700HP monster without realizing the time and effort involved, or that it's a stupid amount of power that is very hard to handle. I still think you'll be a bit surprised at just how much power that is in a Z, given that you're looking at nearly double (on the high end) what you have now in a car that will weigh 750-1000lbs less. It's going to be a LOT faster than what you have now. What condition is the car in? Pics? Sounds like it's rough, and it also sounds like you want to backhalf it. Might end up knocking out two birds with one stone there.
  18. Because you can do that will 2/3 of that power. If you aren't familiar with these cars, be aware that it really doesn't take much power to move them, and the sense of speed is not like what you'd experience in a newer car. Unless you're drag racing, having that kind of power is overkill. I don't know what your car history is like, but if you've never had a high HP car, you may not realize exactly what you're getting into with those numbers. Also consider that in order to put that kind of power down, you are going to have to upgrade the entire driveline, as well as significant chassis reinforcement.
  19. I just joined DPAN. No. Not better. Lol. There is no search function, and the content reflects that.
  20. Take a look here: http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/126731-view-new-content-not-working/ As much as I hate to admit it, I have found that Instagram is actually a pretty good way to keep tabs on people's builds as a way of staying up to date - and I have found a number of things that I wouldn't have otherwise since it's not a car specific site. So it does have its place. Not so great if you want to read through a detailed build thread though, have a discussion, or search the archives for info.
  21. Not dead yet. I don't know if you mean literally no new content, or not much new content. The former would mean there's some sort of issue, the latter is reality. I started browsing ClassicZCars again, and it looks like they have about the same amount of activity. It's a shame, but that's the effect of FB - why anyone uses FB as a replacement for a proper forum, I'll never know. At best, it's a clusterfuck. But you can get more 'likes' on there and on Instagram.
  22. Put up a thread in the wanted section for what you need. I think that's your best bet.
  23. That's good to hear, and is inline with what I've read. I got the MSA kit around 9 years ago about the time I bought the car. I think I'll probably sell it and get another kit from vintage rubber.
  24. http://www.vintagerubber.com/datsun.aspx From what I've read, these guys make a quality product.
