  1. i initially used latex [cause i don't like to spend $ and they were less] but any fluids-like brake, gas, etc would shrivel the latex and i'd have to whip on a new pair. the nitrile are more expensive at the regular parts store and about 1/3 the price at harbor freight. i get them in boxes of 100 qty, less than $5.
  2. i began wearing latex a few years ago then discovered nitrile-like them even better. inexpensive at harbor freight and always have my size. with my desk job, the stained nails, fingertips and generally cut & not kept looking hands were not consistent with the image i guess i'm supposed to project. plus, cleanup is way easier when i'm not at home and can simply peel the glove and get on my way.
  3. if it aint white it aint right! of course, mine was originally silver-which i really like and i then painted it guards red-was drop dead gorgeous but attracted too much official attention so i settled on white...
  4. rockauto carries them for $2.91. fits either the 283 or 327 v8's.
  5. jay, perhaps consider the q45 diff. i've been running that for over a year now. several track events [road courses] with zero issues. my z puts down fewer horses than your car [330 rwhp, 360 rwtq] but i think you may find this will work for you. the q ratio is a 3.54 and has a vsld. the other option may be a 350z or g35 diff, very slightly larger carrier but overall like the q45. the difference? torvec has been testing a prototype torque sensing diff and i believe it will see production in the near future-for the 350z/g35 diffs. my 2cents. by the way, love your z!
  6. i have about 11k miles on my swap now. brand new [at swap] tilton master, earls teflon braided ss hose and fluid was black within a day or 2 of getting the z on the road. repeated flushings have not eliminated the problem. looks like we are all experiencing the same issue but does not seem to be a problem.
  7. blown77z also shared this bit of info with me. for some nice urethane bushings that fit perfectly in the q45 diff, order energy suspension part # 7.1108G [for the 90-96 300zx] and use the front diff mounts only, either sell, keep or toss the rear mounts it comes with. i ordered mine thru autozone [i think $24-was less than anywhere else] and pulled the diff to do the install this weekend. once the diff was out, i followed the directions from the energy sus kit. you remove the rubber from the large dome shaped washers and reuse them. then remove the stock rubber bushings. i used a hammer and large socket to drive the bushings [steel center, surrounded by rubber then steel outer] from the diff. pretty straight forward. tapped in the new bushings and reinstalled the diff. looks like they'll work great. thought about pics but as it was pretty simple...i did not. plus, the directions are easy to follow.
  8. i have an r200 diff. let me know if you are interested and i can check the ratio. i am upstate-rochester.
  9. i have a pair of the chrome/stainless steel fender mirrors, brand new in the original nissan boxes. pm me if you are interested, $300 shipped.
  10. adam, i found that by gently squeezing the bracket together in a vice and bring it to a better fit for the smaller diameter 240z ebrake cable sheath end. i did not use the clips and have had no issues with them coming out of place in 4+ years of use-both street & track.
  11. i greatly appreciate all the advice. as fathers we come to the realization that our children do not come with the ever helpful fsm's [factory service manuals] and each day brings challenges. we rarely make perfect decisions but always try to do what is best. i began teaching my son [the eldest] to drive my honda accord 5spd when he was 11 [church park lot] and my daughter began this past summer. my rationale is that driving involves many facets-mechanical operation of the car, traffic/other drivers and the rules of the road. if i could build the 'car' skills of my children to a decent level of competency prior to them actually hitting the road, they would have more "attention brain space" available for the other parts. i sure hope it works! they will both attend this event when they are new drivers: http://www.tirerack.com/features/motorsports/street_survival.jsp in addition to autocrossing and many hours driving with dad & mom instructing from the right seat. i was just accepted to the local bmw instructor school at watkins glen, which means that they will also attend events there once eligible [18 years old for wgi]. the idea of them exercising their speed desires on the track vs. street is very important to me and i want to provide the outlet for them to do so [as well as them becoming more competent drivers].
  12. modded brackets are complete and just got back from having them and the caliper adaptors plated. pics... modded brackets-they have a satin finish as i glass beaded them to remove the factory paint in prep for welding i plan to [if time permits] to get them all mounted this weekend. we shall see. of course i will post pics...

  15. thank you. i wanted to do a father-son-daughter project that we would all remember for years to come. some folks may think it odd but my children are paying for half of everything we spend both to purchase and restore their z. i want the kids to be proud of their z as well as be able to know that it was not given to them and that they worked both financially and [on] the car for it. there is a also a caveat that when older brother goes somewhere that many times sister will go also-this way i have two somewhat responsible beings in the car. no back seat for their peer pressure friends to ride and egg them on. hopefully my rationale will work.
