  1. cam, i ran my 24sx rears for years at watkins glen, running sessions up to 40 minutes long and never had a problem with brake fade [although sometimes i do get brain fade ] and am running the same hawk hp+ pads. there must be something else that is causing this issue. for fluid i run an off the shelf, valvoline synthetic. again, no brake fade ever. i had the modern motorsports 13" fronts with the sx rears.
  2. in addition, check that your 'c' pillar emblems are mounted correctly. they have an R or L on the back and need to mount on the respective side so they help to draw not scoop air in.
  3. i normally run 93 only when i'm at the track otherwise it's 87. i don't race or drive it hard on the street-more of a "commuter z". i've run it that way since the swap [12k+ miles now] and seems to run just fine.
  4. i get about 30 on the highway traveling ~73mph on 87 octane pump gas. i have just over 12k on my swap now. have driven the z from rochester, ny to both mid ohio and daytona race tracks [then run the tracks while there for z conventions] and back with zero issues, sans a flat tire. running the q45 diff, 3.54 ratio. get 9mph when i'm running on the track [watkins glen intl].
  5. i have a nos never mounted front bumper that is for the 73 240z only. it has been sitting around for quite some time, chrome is faded and has some surface rust on the back side. no dents and is perfectly straight. perfect for a daily driver or if rechromed, would be absolutely stunning. pm me if you are interested, happy to send pics via email.
  6. got my straps today [evilc, rags and i ordered them together to help save a bit of shipping]. look great and i hope to have a pair mounted with pics in the coming week. question, going through my parts 'bin' i have some varying length 'j' bolts for the straps. does anyone know the size for the 240's? i found them in the following lengths [measured total length] in decending order; 6", 5.5", 4", 3.75", 3.5", 3.25" and...3". have not yet removed the bolts from my z as of yet but will certainly measure those as well.
  7. easy, remove steering column cover, then remove the 4 screws that hold the ignition to the column. if the ign is original, tighten the 2 phillips screws [tightening them first makes it easier to remove the 2 without heads on them] and use a dremel to cut a slot in the other 2, then remove them with a reg screw driver. if u don't have a dremel, you can also use a small chisel to 'make' a slot. hope this helps.
  8. i've looked and they are not available from nissan anymore. guy that has my kids z in paint jail thinks he can come up with something [their z is missing them also]. i'll post here if [i hope] he does come up with something.
  9. rags, spoke to another guy at the last track event at wgi, he got his at harbor freight.
  10. a Happy Fathers day wish to my fellow hbzr's. i hope you all enjoy this day that we dads celebrate and...sometimes get to do what we want without any guilt. my plan is to spend it with my wife & kids!
  11. off to paint jail she goes-staying the original 907 green. i say she, as the kids have yet to name her... so far the name possibilities are few; jade & green z any suggestions would be great. hmm, the green hornet?

  13. scott, looks great so far. have you considered extending the alum 'belly pan' forward of the air dam, in 'duck bill' style that some of the cars sport now? that would solve your 'finishing' dilemma.
  14. payment just sent for 5 pair...which should wipe out the first production run of 10 pair. better whip up some more jerry!
  15. clive, thanks for posting the pics. mine are still on the camera...
  16. joeinca, i have the complete 240sx rear brake kit i pulled from my 73, which i replaced with the silvermine kit. i have; mml adaptor brackets, calipers, caliper hangers, brake flex hoses, ebrake adaptors, rotors, brake pads-used and new hawk hp+ pads, new kvr pads [what mml sells with the kit]. rotors are in great shape and have never been [or needed to be] turned. let me know if you are interested. kit as i have it would list over $750...
  17. i purchased the rear brake kit he offers. brand new parts, quality bracket to adapt the caliper to the factory hub and excellent braking i have tested for hours-yes hours of lapping at watkins glen international. i'm running sub 2:20 lap times there and have given the brakes a good beating. no problems and customer service has been great. i have no compaints.
  18. i may have one. it is white plastic, about 7/8" diameter and about 1/2" thick. let me know if that sounds close. david i can also email a pic...
  19. i'm guessing that the lt header project is now...dead?
  20. very nice indeed jerry i think that zx tank j bolts may still be available and work. they are longer but...we area all about modding are we not?!
  21. i would consider them. question, why coat stainless steel?
