  1. Do a search. This topic has been hashed out many, many time!! TIm
  2. You can try Scoggin Dickey, Jim Pace, and various others. What you need to ask yourself is what kind of a car you want. You can go as fast as your wallet is fat. If you want something mild: http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?action=prod_detail&catid=128&pid=110 If you want a bit more: http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?action=prod_detail&catid=120&pid=462 All the way to this: http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?action=prod_detail&catid=1578&pid=2598 Or this: http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?action=prod_detail&catid=1579&pid=9010 Your choices are wide open depending on your budget. You could start with a basic package, then upgrade heads, cam, intake etc down the road. Obviously this will be a bit more expensive in the long run, but cheaper in the short run. Tim
  3. I don't think that enough serious interest exists. This is obviously a huge undertaking. I'm sure that the "if you build it, they will come" applies, but it's an expensive gamble. He won't even consider it unless he has 10 or so people who are serious enough to put $$$ down before the project even begins. I think it's a non-starter. Tim
  4. John, I just did pretty much the same as you (in anticipation of high temps), but did it with 'glass. the rad support to hood gap should seal if the rubber 'strip' is there like is should be. That only leaves a couple of small holes in the rad support. The line is drawn where the air dam stopped and I added 'glass: Tim
  5. Try this: There are a few holes in the data, but it will give you some pointers http://www.f-body.org/tech/tech.htm http://www.f-body.org/tech/4th_gen.htm http://featured.firebirdv6.com/february2003.html http://www.top100camarosites.com/ Tim
  6. It will either be a 4l60E, or 5 speed. Either will work. Tim
  7. Well John (280Zen) has very graciously gotten by Megasquirt board to work properly (Major thanks again John!!!). Well, I was planning to use it for my ZXT, but have sold it. So now I figure I will convert my truck to FI. It is currently running an Edelbrock RPM manifold and 750 DP Holley, with Vortec heads (with L98 cam grind and upgraded valve springs). Anyways...What would be the best intake for this application. I was thinking of getting a LT1 intake and modifying it, but seems like a bunch of extra work. What can I just bolt on. I don't want to run TB injection, rather would like 8 fuel injectors. Would the TPI manifold work? I am currently running a HEI distributor, and that will have to stay as the MS will only control fuel. I have a Fuel pump from a 83 ZXT that I will use to feed it. Any suggestions? I want this to be a quick, budget project (I barely ever drive the truck anymore....10mpg gets expensive)(1971 Cheyenne 20 FYI) Tim
  8. Quality padding at that' date=' there is crappy stuff and good stuff, and I dont even know how much the good stuff will help you if you headbutt it at 20 MPH+ collision.[/quote'] That's why they make seat belts/harnesses Tim
  9. Jeremy that sounds really steep. Why not just buy LS1 Edit for yourself.....if you have to pay for it anyway, then at least have it forever!! Tim
  10. Also one of those long matches (like is used for lighting a fireplace and such). Move it around and the leak will blow it out. Just make sure that you don't have any fuel leaks!!! Tim
  11. Juan, Sorry to hijack your post, but I am curious about something: From your website: Why the very last sentence? Thanks, Tim
  12. Kinda funny since I think most of the fun is standing around talking to other car nuts about you have done to your car, getting ideas, bragging, whatever....oh well.....I guess it's the choice of a new generarion! Tim
  13. There was a topic on this a while back, but I didn't have any pictures then, and I can't seem to find the original post....anyway this is how I did mine. I also have an aluminum plate that will cover the hole in the console and have a switch for the 'roll stop' valve. ....... Tim
  14. Most of them likely have little knowledge about their cars (mechanically) and are scared to sound stupid if they say something wrong. That would be my guess, or maybe they don't want to 'tip off' the competition as to what they have. Tim
  15. Ahh...Shaddapp!! HEY!! That's a highly customized spring loaded shower rod if you don't mind!! Tim
  16. Just a few misc. pics of what's going on for the few that are following my progress. (BTW, I have not updated my website as I am busy building a new one).: 1: LT1 is fitted again for the last time, and radiator and fan and hoses connected: Another angle: 2: Brake 'roll stop' valve with a bit of heat shielding: 3: Lower grill: 4: Addition to the rear of the airdam to try to keep as much air going through the radiator as possible (the line drawn is where the stock airdam stopped): 5: The new rear panel is finally complete (except for final paint): Tim
  17. Damn!!!! That is too sweet. Think that sheet metal will be strong enough? Tim
  18. Vibration that is linked to vehicle speed is almost always dynamic imbalance of the wheel. Try swapping front to back, or just take the wheels in to be rebalanced. Have them spin the wheels before removing the weights to confirm imbalance so that you know. (Usually they will strip off all the weights prior to putting the wheel on the machine). Tim
  19. Yup, that is schweet alright!! have you considered the K&N extreme lid for your air cleaner? That would give you a bunch extra flow! Very nice man!! Only thing that detracts from the cosmetic appearance is the flexible rad. hose...can you not find a pre-bent hose to fit?....not a critisism, just a curiousity. Tim
  20. Both too cheap. Why spend that money for a 'learning' unit, only to spend more money again later for a 'production' unit. Then you will have to reteach yourself anyway because not all welders actthe same way, they all have their little 'quirks'. Always use this motto: Spend as much as you can possibly afford on tools. It's a capital expenditure and will pay for itself many many times over the years. If you buy junk, it will cost more in both $$$ and agravation. Just ask Owen. He, and his 10 lb sledge and Craftsman welder are well know around here. If you can't afford a decent one, and don't plan to do much welding, then rent one. If you dom plan to do a lot of welding, then drop the $$$ on a good unit. Yes, you can teach yourself. Just have someone who can weld well give you some pointers, or get a book. Harbor Freght has a nice one. Tim
  21. Now that's what I call solving a problem!!! Cool!
  22. More wiring, and a slightly beefier 'chassis'. Tim
