  1. Use the OEM PCM, wire it in yourself (it's not brain surgery), and give it fuel and 12V and off you go! Tim
  2. Yup, I'm the same way. Buy something to drive while I'm working on the V8, then end up spending time and money on the daily driver. It happene when I bought the ZXT....put clutch stuff in, then a BOV, then had a spacer made for the 240sx TB, then had a 3.5" DP made, then..... Now I've caught myself looking in the catalogues for hop up parts for the 1994 Z28 that I just bought.....I told my wife to slap me....she gladly obliged!! Those old Beemers are great cars though!! Lots of torque and handle nicely. Tim
  3. Drum brakes in the rear? That is where I would start! Tim
  4. Make sure the carb is clean. Opening the secondaries and getting extra air, but no extra fuel will make it flat. Tim
  5. Cool Richard!!! I bet that seat belt wiring thing made you laugh your butt off!! Tim
  6. then I would imagine to set valves; Get #6 rocking, set #1, get #1 rocking, set #5, get #2 rocking set #4 etc.... Tim
  7. Got tired of messing around (this MS problem has put me in a permanent bad mood!!), so I just created a whole new Yahoo account!! Tim
  8. Hmmm....I've heard that other things can make you blind too! Tim
  9. How about taking the valve cover off and watching the valves while cranking? Tim
  10. I'm sure that a good wheel repair shop can drill them out correctly? I agree...home made job not a good plan! Tim
  11. You can always mark how you want it welded then drop it off at my office in Chatsworth, then I can bring it back the next day....up to you. Tim
  12. OK....I spent 4 hours tonight trying to get this POS to work....still no luck. I checked, double checked and tripple checked all the components. Only thing that I could find that was amiss, was a couple of the resistors were not resisting to spec. For example, the 330k Ohm res. on the stim board was only at about 65 ohm on the meter. I tested a new one and it was right around 330k. So I put in a new one. Tested again, and again the #s were down (???)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The test using hyperterminal was fine...everything worked as it was supposed to. The IR port is disabled, so that isn't the problem, and I am using Com1. When I initially launched PCC, I got the "no .cfg file..using default" message, so I made a .cfg file which reads: com1 50 Then I didn't get the error message anymore. I am at a loss and am very disheartened with this MegaSh!t project of mine!!!! Bah Tim
  13. Now that's a good plan!! Or, bring it down and we can weld it back together.
  14. The cable is straight thru, and have tested connectivity at each terminal on both ends of the cable (with my multimeter set to Ohms). It also tests ok when the laptop is connected to the MS board with no processor in place (using the jumper between pins on the processor socket and using Hyperterminal). But when I plug in the processor and connect everything up and launch the MS application, I don't get any action on the Runtime display!!! I have tried various com port setting etc....and two seperate laptops, one on W95, one on W2K!! ARGGGGGGG Tim
  15. Just make a little 'powerbulge' in the hood, ala Mitsubishi Eclipse Tim
  16. I definitely agree with the Falken opinions. I won't go into the full diatribe on my experiences, but they are extensive, with several tire brands,(worked at a tire shop and had access to every brand...mainstream anyway) and I now use Falken exclusively on all my vehicles, although my favorite all around tire the ZIEX 502 has been discontinued . Trust me, you won't go wrong, especially if you consider the price!!! Tim
  17. I still have my ZXT. I can measure the hood clearance there if you like. Tim
  18. Good luck!! I hunted high and low for those damn things!! I haven't tried Home Depot yet though, and my neighbor says he has seen them there. Maybe another member has a bunch of extra ones (ahem, hint hint). Tim
