  1. It is ok for the output shaft to have play. The driveshaft will center it. There have been a few articles on wiring up the lockup on the converter. Many places sell kits for that, but call a good HP tranny shop in your area and they will tell you how to do it. There is an article in one of my old hotrod mags by a guy out here in CA (I actually spoke to him, his shop is near my work). Otherwise, give bowtieoverdrives a call (or look on their website, they may have some details (when i spoke to them about it, they also recommended a switch on the brake pedal to disengage the lock-up in case of an emergency stop/brake. It is a very simple task ( I never did get around to doing it, but from what I read, it was very very simple). It does involve opening the tranny though (dropping the pan). Hope that helps. Also, the Cable geometry at the carb is very important. Check out the Bowtieoverdrives.com site for details on their system. i've been to their shop and their stuff looks very legit! Tim
  2. In all the discussions on CF hoods, the only person that makes true CF hoods, is John Coffey's buddy, and if I remember correctly, it was about 2.5 to 3 grand. Tim
  3. Probably just means that the NTSB hasn't 'certified' them. Tim
  4. Yeah, but I am reengineering it!!!! You 'Yanks' have a reputation for innovation.....thus my comment
  5. Arnold has decided not to run....Maria doesn't want him too....can you hear the whip cracking!!! Damn, even big dudes like Arnie get 'kitty whipped"!!! Tim
  6. Probably due to a lack of any decent options. Although it will cost a bunch of money for this, I believe it will cost the taxpayers more in the long run to keep Davis for the next three years. Gotta spend money to make money!! Tim
  7. So much for innovation!! Just copy the competition, huh? Tim
  8. The stock temp setting for the low speed fans to kick on in a Camaro (LT1) is 226 degree, so 210 is no problem. I have issues with waiting that long for the fans to kick on though, especially since the temp will spike over 230 degree easily before the fans cool the system enough, so I reprogrammed the PCM to lower it by 15 degree before the fans kick on (In my Z28). Tim
  9. check all your vacuum lines. Double check everything that you touched. Tim
  10. Hmmm.. get an older one and drop a 602hp 502ci crate in it congrats Davy!! Better start building cars now...they'll be 16 in no time!!! Tim
  11. we just want to be careful that the forums don't choked by a whole mess of stickys and announcements. Tim
  12. 3 words: "Do a Search".......
  13. I made a new electric panel to handle EVERYTHING. The wiring of the LT1 PCM is pretty easy, just time consuming. I threw out the entire stock datsun wiring harness throughout the whole car and started from scratch. At least I'll have new wiring and logical wiring. I got everything from Waytekwire.com and made this: Tim
  14. Look in the back section of any hot rod magazine and you will find a few places that sell pre-bent lines. Tim
  15. JC Whitney drop ships them from MAS Racing in Minessota (sp?).... Tim
  16. As much as I like Arnie, he is wayyyy to liberal for my taste. It would be a breathe of fresh air though! Tim

Go to your local body shop and look at their color swatches. That's the easiest way. Or do a web search yourself!! A quick search on the net got me this: http://www.ppgcarpaint.com/ Tim
  18. Thanks for the offer man, but I can take one off my truck to try. Mudge...hammering or welding is not an option....I wanted to get a custom set of engraved valve covers, but they don't do the LT1 covers, only the normal centerbolts (flamingengraving.com). If anyone knows of another shop that does that type of engraving work, PLEEEEZE let me know!! I'd hate to have to put on some generic old covers. My OEM ones are messed up from the chain from the hoist, so I definitely need something. Tim
  19. I did get mine from you...thanks!! but the envelope didn't hold up very well and I ended up with 3 sets. Cool, should be enough... You may want to wrap them in some toilet paper (preferably new TP )., or cotton, or something to protect the envelope. Again thanks! Tim
  20. I have one in my garage. It will be a bear to ship...where are you located? Tim
  21. I dont know about being SMRT, but I've often said of myself ' I am so smart that I should have been twins" I'm also extremely modest!! Tim
  22. As I said, my driveline is almost perfectly in line in all planes. I am assuming that once the bushings/mounts settle (compress) a bit and the entire drive train settles after a few miles, it may end up being out by a degree or two, but I think that is the best I will ever be able to get things. Tim
  23. Does anyone know if the regular centerbolt valve cover will fit on the even bank head of the LT1? The OEM has a little 'recess' for the alternator, while the 'normal' centerbolts don't. Iguess I could try one of the valve covers from the vortec heads on my 71 truck, but it's a PITA to pull them because of the plug wire looms! Thanks, Tim
