  1. Get the "rocker panel ends" from MSA or Victoria British and weld in new ones. MSA didn't have one of the sides so I just ordered from VB. MSA never seems to have anything I want in stock. Same price at both places $29.95 each. Tim
  2. You'd be better off asking this question at the race tracks to see what the market is like. Hybrid Z guys are generally cheap bastards!! Although there are a few members who have major bucks to throw around....John, ZR8ED, etc Tim
  3. Thanks for the update. Please keep the updates coming as I'm in the market for a front brake setup. Any idea on total price for the complete kit, and availability schedule? Did you get my email a couple of weeks ago? Tim
  4. I'll post it in the morning (at work on T1) Tim
  5. Lewis, Rubber kit=sold. Can you please confirm if the kit includes ALL the rubber pieces? I think it would contain something like 14-16 seperate items. Also shipping quote to 90245 (El Segundo, CA) Thanks, Tim
  6. No one makes the subframe connectors, but they are easy enough to fab up. They are welded the entire length of the body, on both sides. As for welding in the rollcage, it's possible, but you would have to remove the seats, carpetting and all of the rubber undercoating, at a minimum. Then you would need to protect your plastic panels from welding sparks and grinding sparks. You could leave the dash in place, but I would recommend removing EVERYTHING else. Tim
  7. Combine the last two posts. Tim
  8. The roll cage kit from S&W is exactly that: a kit. Needs to be welded together and into the car. Takes a bit of cutting of the tubes for a perfect fit. Look on my site for pictures of the subframe connectors. Another way to think of subframe connectors is: Frame rails, from the front 'subframe' to the 'rear subframe'. Tim
  9. Means you'd better reinforce your unibody before it starts cracking!!! Tim
  10. Directly from the California Health and Safety Code: 44011. (a) All motor vehicles powered by internal combustion engines that are registered within an area designated for program coverage shall be required biennially to obtain a certificate of compliance or noncompliance, except for all of the following: (1) Every motorcycle, and every diesel-powered vehicle, until the department, pursuant to Section 44012, implements test procedures applicable to motorcycles or to diesel-powered vehicles, or both. (2) Any motor vehicle that has been issued a certificate of compliance or noncompliance or a repair cost waiver upon a change of ownership or initial registration in this state during the preceding six months. (3) (A) Prior to January 1, 2003, any motor vehicle manufactured prior to the 1974 model-year. ( Beginning January 1, 2003, any motor vehicle that is 30 or more model-years old. (4) (A) Any motor vehicle four or less model-years old. ( The department, by regulation, may increase the exemption provided by this paragraph to include any motor vehicle up to six or less model-years old. C) Any motor vehicle excepted by this paragraph shall be subject to testing and to certification requirements as determined by the department, if any of the following apply: (i) The department determines through remote sensing activities or other means that there is a substantial probability that the vehicle has a tampered emission control system or would fail for other cause a smog check test as specified in Section 44012. (ii) The vehicle was previously registered outside this state and is undergoing initial registration in this state. (iii) The vehicle is being registered as a specially constructed vehicle. (6) Any motor vehicle that the department determines would present prohibitive inspection or repair problems. (7) Any vehicle registered to the owner of a fleet licensed pursuant to Section 44020 if the vehicle is garaged exclusively outside the area included in program coverage, and is not primarily operated inside the area included in program coverage. ( Vehicles designated for program coverage in enhanced areas shall be required to obtain inspections from appropriate smog check stations operating in enhanced areas. Tim
  11. Have a carefull look at the pillars (between the hatch and the little 1/4 windows). The first place the unibody begins to show stress in at the joins there. You will begin to see very fine cracks appearing in the paint. Tim
  12. Al, It is not unheard of to have a brand new thermostat not work correctly. Since you've tested yours, put it back in. At least you have a known/tested variable. Tim
  13. Great news...one more reprieve....until the next moron tries this again!!! I bet Jay Leno's voice went a long way for 'our cause'!! Tim
  14. Sorry not to answer your question directly, but you could go with the MegaSquirt conmpanion, MegaSpark. Cheaper anyway See here: http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=20341 Tim
  15. Lewis, Interested in (please provide prices): Fiberglass fenders and buckets Rear strut brace Rubber kit (is this the complete kit: Both doors, front and rear windows, underhood seals etc, and what brand/supplier) Email me at THepburn@semprautilities.com, or PM me. Thanks, Tim
  16. Holy Cow!!! Sucks that happened to the guy, but you know what they say...."you play cards with the Devil, you'll eventually have to pay up!!" Tim
  17. But is it resistant to fuels and solvents? The JB weld worked great until it came into contact with fuel(which I guess invalidates the statement "it worked great"). The great thing about the "Seal-All" (that is the name of it, I found the tube over the weekend) is the very low viscosity which allows it to 'flow' into the little cracks and crevaces. Even better, it's really cheap at Home Depot (about $2.50 for a 6 inch tube). Tim
  18. Mike, Although it's not the T56, the 1000HP TT V6 RX7 that I've mentioned before has a ZF-6 behind it and has held up well. Not sure how much more stout the ZF is over the Borg Warner unit? Tim
  19. Guy, I did them on my 240. Can't believe that it would be all that much different on the ZX. I'll crawl under the ZX and see. On my 240, I needed to replace the floors too, so I welded the floors in, and then 1 x 3 x 0.86 rectangular tubing, fron to back. I also had the car on a rotisserie, which made it MUCH easier!!! Tim
  20. WAIT A MINUTE!!!! ".....Too much HP" - Isn't that an oxymoron!!!? TIm
  21. You mean this: Custom all the way!! Tim
  22. I believe many guys on the board have used Griffin radiators, and others. Hopefully one of them will chime in. Sorry, I have not run one, but I know that they will be much more efficient and LIGHTER than a MSA 4 core unit. Tim
