  1. Boy I wish I had time to play video games! Tim
  2. Stony, Where is it? Can you post a link? Tim
  3. Matt, My bad!! I am usually really good about not double posting....it's actually one of my pet peeves!!!! Tim
  4. Thanks to D.K. for hosting: http://dirtywestclan.com/ultimatechainsaw.asf (right click, "save target as") Tim
  5. That sounds about right. I recently asked Rewarder Headers for a quote to copy my full length LT1 headers: $7-800 for setup and then $400 per set. (although that was coated) Tim
  6. actually, your profile makes it look like @qci.net, I remailed it. Tim
  7. Stony, U have mail Thanks, Tim
  8. Can anyone help me with this. It's 1MB, and shows how people will put a SBC in anything! Tim
  9. FWIW, I tried the S&S headers with my T56 and LT1 and could NOT get them to fit. The collector was pointing directly into the slave of the clutch, thus my adventure into homemade header making. I was also quite concerned about the passenger side ground clearance problem with the S&S units. Now they fit nice and tight with lots of ground clearance, although putting them in is a PITA, requiring them to put in from underneath, and lifting the engine enough to drop the engine mounts (and JTR spacers and setback plates), but since they will hopefully only be installed once (upon final assembly), I'm not too concerned about that. Mudge, if your HP and TQ numbers are reliable, that puts a big on my face!! I'm sure that the Tri-Y type header setup that I have should give me a little more too Tim
  10. Good one Larry! I don't doubt the credibility of the story....I've heard of strange things a-foot in the rainy State!! Hey that's a '10' block. Give the guys a few bucks for the car and get rid of the scrap! Tim
  11. Maybe Van will jump in and explain the Riverside event. It is in May (first weekend in May I think). It sounds wayyyyyyy better!! Tim
  12. They are wayyyyy too uptight, and very rude (a certain member here can definitely speak to that!) Tim
  13. I hear ya Mike! I second that vote for a HybridZ only event. If Van is up to it, his place will be very central to the Riverside event, which sounds like a hoot (open header, show and go, and racing), or if he's unavailable, I'm sure that we can organize a parking lot somewhere to gather (there is an empty grocery store parking lot in my town that would be perfect and the City council is VERY hotrod friendly, actually there is at least one hotrod on every street in my town). Maybe we can start our own tradition Tim
  14. Ah, that cheap bastard Santa!! I wanted a 502!!! TIm
  15. Mike, Thanks for the suggestion. The Passat is quite a bit more money, does not have as many standard features (at least the ones that I am interested in), but does have more HP and torque. However, I have never been a big fan of VW (or Audi for that matter), and considering the Passat's lineage, I just can't bring myself to even look at that as an option. Closed minded of me, I know, but comes down to personal preference I suppose. Tim
  16. Looking at either the New Accord, or the new Mazda 6s. This will be to replace the Volvo 850 (1996) family car which is getting a bit long in the tooth (100k+). Anyone driven either of these yet? I haven't driven either yet. Both have 3L V6 engines, with the Mazda 20hp down on teh accord, but has more standard features and is a few grand less. The Mazda styling is really nice too. Opinions? Tim
  17. I've used the grease method very successfully, but used brown bread instead. The fit of the drive tool doesn't have to be so tight, and it's less messy. Tim
  18. A.X. Thanks for the update! I definitely don't need those kinds of hassles!! Tim
  19. Jim, Yes I agree that mechanical fans work great, but.... They do rob HP and slow down revving. Also, if running an electric H2O pump, or LT1/LS1, the mechanical fan is not an option. Also, don't you agree that the engine bay looks a lot crisper/neater without the mechanical fan? Since I have not had my LT1 on the road with the Camaro (JTR recommended) radiator and fan, I cannot speak from experience as to cooling efficiency? Tim
  20. Kinda sucks when your body kit can be food for critters (termites and the like) Tim
  21. Tim240z

    Nice or Rice?

I like the center section, but would like to see the outer dish a bit deeper. Can't AR put different inner and outer sections on it to change the offset? Tim
  22. Yeah i have to agree with the above posts. The engine and trans are the cheap part. The other misc. stuff will eat you alive Exhaust Driveshaft Rearend brakes suspension wheels nuts and bolts Radiator and hoses fuel pump shifter gauges You WILL get the mindset of:"since I'm spending all this money on the conversion, I might as well do it right and make it look pretty and do it right" That is what has snowballed my project. I was planning on a drop in and go project. That was 3 years ago!!!, and I'm still not done.....it will never really be done, I suppose. Tim
