  1. . J/K, sounds like you are having fun!!! Tim
  2. Ross, Are they not checking for NOx? If not, richen up the idle a bit. That should do it. Tim
  3. Mudge, Leakdown and compression tests are likely plans. I think that am just 'jones-ing' for some mechanical work since spending the last few weeks doing solely bodywork . It's slow going and I hate bodywork, I'd much rather be tearing into and engine or something!! Really just want to be able to start planning for more HP (playing with DD2000) because I know that after I get this thing on the road, the stock LT1 hp will start feeling weak after a while! Ah, the endless pursuit continues!! Tim
  4. TZ...you crack me up dude!! Hey, if you make the driveshaft out of stainless steel, then you can forget about the buffing compound , or just grow a beard!! Tim
  5. Can anyone provide the flow numbers for a stock (94 Z28) LT1 heads and the specs on the stock cam? I can't seem to find them anywhere. I want to do some desktop dyno playing, but the application doesn't have any selection for the LT1s. Thanks, Tim
  6. I totally agree, guys. These motors should last a good long while, but then again, I don't have any history on the motor. No telling how the previous owner treated it. i have run it and it doesn't smoke, and seems to rev cleanly. BUT.....if I have the heads off (plan to get a used pair and port them) and the front cover is off (replace the cam), I might as well re-ring the damn thing...no?....and if I have the pistons out, I might as pull the crank....and if I have the crank out, I might as well put in a stroker crank....no?.....and if I put in a stroker crank, I might as well put in some nice H-beam rods...no?.....and if I am putting in some nice new rods, I might as well put in some nice light pistons...no?....Just while I'm at it!!! Schmokin!!! somebody stop me!!! Tim
  7. Thanks for the links!! Can you ever have enough power? The engine I picked up already had 95k miles on it, so I will likely have to freshen it up fairly soon, so "While I'm at it......." Tim
  8. Try the radiator mounts from Mercedes. They are 2 studs joined by a rubber insulator. That will at least preclude any of the vibration from getting to the chassis. Tim
  9. Cool Dave....Damn, it took you long enough!! Just remember, you still have buds in LA LA land!! Tim
  10. Check all your vacuum lines for leaks, and make sure all the inlet manifold bolts are tight. Sounds very much like an air leak. Tim
  11. Hey Dave, Drop me a line (offline) and let me know which yards you frequent. I go to a couple on a fairly regular basis, maybe we can compare notes. Tim
  12. Mudge, From what I've read (obviously not from experience with the LS1 swap), I would imagine the LT1 to be MUCH easier because: 1. off the shelf install kit (JTR) available 2. Computer editting much easier (Tunercat and LT1Edit) 3. Aftercat O2 sensors not an issue 4. LT1/T56 packages cheaper than the LS1 packages ....Just off the top of my head Tim
  13. Don't know if this will help, but Try this post Tim
  14. ScottieGNZ is the local Buick expert. Maybe email him directly for a quicker response? Tim
  15. I agree that Black is Beautiful on a sports car, but it's hell to keep clean....every speck of dust and dirt shows, and if the bodywork has ANY imperfections, it will stick out like a sore thumb. Tim
  16. Eric, I am busy with bodywork now. I am however, starting from the front and moving back. It is taking me wayyyy long. 3 days just to fill in and smooth out the windshield tray (wiper assembly cover). I have joined and filled the headlight buckets and am busy smoothing out the little 'potholes' in the fenders (from people leaning on the fenders when doing engine maintenance). I still need to do the hood and smooth out the filler from the removed drip rails. It will likely be a couple of weeks until I get to the rear panel. I will take many pics of my progress as discussed. Tim
  17. Doug, Like I said, I'm very jaded, and am purely into instant gratification, but I know where you're coming from! I'm just getting very callous in my 'old age'. Tim
  18. Looks cool Eric!! One thing that strikes me visually, and I can't put my finger on it, is the nose. Spoiler is ok, but the nose looks to be too sharp (pointed) or something. Like I said, can't quite see what is bothering me? I love the overall lines though, and esp. the rear!! Tim
  19. Ah, but would it not have felt good to use that $20 for a bouquet of flowers for the lil Woman? That gets a lot more mileage IMO. There are always guys (or gals) on the corners selling overpriced bunches of flowers out here. Sure they are overpriced, but at least its commerce, not charity!Tim
  20. Although, if you have to fab your own mounts anyway, why not go with the higher CI LS1?Oh, WTH, it's all good! Tim
  21. I've seen several news shows that have shown that beggers can make in the 6 figure range annually. I refuse to give money to anyone who is completely able to get some type of job. I'm really jaded though. But, as many of these folks have said, why work for minimum wage when they can make much more begging. Tim
  22. Man I am feeling spoiled since I got my LT1/T56 package for less than you were quoted just for the T56!! Tim
  23. WOW...How bitchin is THAT Spitfire!!!! Tim
