  1. What about Autometer Ultra lite. $130 @ summit Tim
  2. What about an old Z? My daily driver 240 (1973) cost me $400, delivered! I put about another $500 into it for new tires, brake hydraulics etc, odd bits and pieces from the JY (unnecessary additions like 280zx distributor, radiator and twin webers). I bought a new carpet kit from E-Bay and this thing is reliable as clockwork, esp. considering I drive the crap out of it. Tim
  3. Cargo space? , don't need no stinking cargo space! That's what trucks are for I guess one could always put a roof rack on TIm
  4. Corect. That would connect to the VSS output from the PCM.Tim
  5. I have heard that they have similar electrical problems to the TT. And I've also read that the Audi Dealers don't like to recognize the issues. After reading all the stuff that I've read, I would stay with BMW or something similar. OK...posting the links didn't work, maybe the urls are too long, but do a web search on "I hate my TT" Tim
  6. Are you going to edit the PCM? If so what application are you going to use? I am using TunerCat and really like it, but since I haven't used any others, I'm curious. I am also using freeScan to check and reset diagnostic codes....it's really cool and free. Tim
  7. Dan, How/where can we send our "donations" for site maintenance and improvements!!!! Tim
  8. No, but i like to anything with a 'Huffed' SBC!! Tim
  9. Mike, I don't suppose you snapped some pics? Tim
  10. Brett, I have a set of those Summit headers that I am not using (made up some custom ones instead). They fit fine, except a bit tight for angle plug heads and fouled with my knock sensor on the LT1. If you want them, let me know...make offer. Tim
  11. Guy, I bought an Autometer UltraLite E-speedo. Direct hookup, but this is for a 240Z. Tim

Remember Guys, all this stuff comes down from the Feds (EPA), it's just how it gets implimented that is in C.A.R.B.S.'s jurisdiction. While I'm definitely no supporter of some of the wacky emissions rules set by the local air districts, or ARB, but it's the EPA, under scrutiny by the treehugging, lawsuit happy environmental groups that's responsible!!! Tim
  16. For what it's worth: I have a set of Tri-Y headers on my LT1 (2 x 1.75" into 2.25" into 3") full length headers into dual 2.5" into single 3" with one dynomax muffler in the back. I was expecting to have to put a pair of bullet mufflers in the 2.5" sections, but when I fired it it sounded very mellow and fairly quiet. The only thing I can think of is that having the Tri-Ys on firing order, the resonance is pretty much cancelled out. Tim
  17. I really don't want to know anymore. I kept tabs on invoices etc until I hit around $5000. Then I stopped counting. Here are the basics: Car:$400 LT1 & T56:$1400 Wheels: $500 Coil overs: $400 R230: $280 Exhaust system:$300 so far (still need to coat the headers) Rollcage: $200 +- Misc. items;$1500 or so It's not eh big items, it's the small stuff that nails you....braided fuel lines, paint, thinners, cleaners, welding supplies, sheetmetal etc etc..... Tim
  18. I bet they didn't like the smell of the paint and solvent either ha ha ha Tim
  19. I am going to assume you are talking about the aluminumn L6 valve cover? I cleaned it with carb cleaner, then used a scotch brite pad and thinner to get it really clean, then wiped it down with thinner and a blue paper shop towel. Let it dry and shot it with engine enamel spray paint. It has held up very well over the few thousand miles that I have put on it so far. Tim
  20. Mudge, I bought it from a bodyshop (hole in the wall kinda place) that had bought it from an insurance auction. The car was running (although parked in so I couldn't drive it) and I took the engine out myself (with help from another member here). He originally wanted $2000, but after offering to pull it myself, I got him down. I got the driveshaft, more wiring harness than I could ever need, and misc. nuts and bolts. I have fired it up recently, and apart from the MAF causing trouble (runs fine without it installed, but stalls after a couple of seconds of startup with it), it seems to be in good shape...no smoke (confirmed before I bought it) and no oil leaks. Looks to have a fairly new waterpump and MSD 8.8mm plug wires. Tim
  21. Life is short, Play hard Tim
  22. If you want to make a really load bang (non-destructive), get your oxy-acet cutting torch and light the flame and set it to a good hot cutting flame. Then rub the tip on a piece of steel to extinguish the flame. Fill a 1 pint milk carton with the gas which is now blowing. Stick a piece of newspaper in the carton for a fuse and clamp it in a vice. Light the newspaper and get the hell out of the way. If you have windows in your garage, don't do this, the concussion will blow out the glass. Tim

Keep in mind that the proposed California Clean Air Plan being put together by CARB is going to repeal the 30 year rolling exemption. Just FYI....don't bank on it just yet. Tim
  24. Thanks Man....you saved me some $$$$$$$$$$. Tim
