Lone et al., I deal with CARB and several AQMDs on a regular basis (for stationary sources though, not mobile sources). I will contact several of my contacts and get some specifics on how these regs are actually interpreted and enforced. I will report back here once I get some news. Tim

Greimann, I have used hylomar with good results, although I generally only use it when the parts will come into contact with gasoline/gasoline vapors because, unlike silicon, hylomar is impervious to fuel. I have never used it for the intake though, but I'm sure it would work well. Tim

Pete, I had promised you the details on this kit a LONG time ago. Sorry for the lack of follow through, but you have mail! Give me that and that and that for taking soo long! If anyone else is interested, let me know and I will email you the scan of the spec sheet and order form. Tim

John, Is that your new sequential box! Very nice...Xmas in January Tim

I was considering this exact thing too, but not sure if I want to do it or not. I knida like the look of that side window. I was also thinking about welding in a panel there and putting in a round portal type window (a la 57 T-Bird), but I think that might be a bit hokey! Tim

Keith, I just got off the phone with MSA. The 2 consoles will not interchange. Apparently the ashtray was under the radio, and the mounting points were relocated. Don't sweat it man! Tim

Also, keep in mind that F-a-F is meant as a temporary fix in an emergency. Use it only to get you to a repair facility. It will almost always create a dynamic imbalance to a tire, which if driven for a long period like that will damage your wheel bearings. I actually carry repair plugs with me, and not aerosols. Although this will not help if I'm miles away from a compressor/service station. Just my 2c. Tim

Doug, Sorry no real specific help, but try looking into what the F1 teams use. Their sites might be a bit more specific, and you are pretty much guaranteed that the use the best stuff. TIm

I'm sure that most any chevy starter will work. I ran the trans in my truck for a while with the std starter with no problems. I plan to purchase a mini torque starter for the Z. Tim

LJohnson, I am using the 200 4R with my 350. I got i from a Buick LeSabre. It has a universal bellhousing flange. I am using the gear lever and cable linkage from a Z28 Camaro, which I made a mounting bracket for it to attach to my custom trans mount. Let me know if you need any other info. Tim

my concept of the body look on my Hybrid. I wanted to use the MSA 3 piece deck spoiler, but I was there today to pick up a dash cover and the guy said that their supplier is no longer producing them, even though it is one of MSA's best sellers!!! Anyone know who else, if any, produces a similar unit. I guess I could chop up the one piece spoiler that looks similar, but it would be a lot of extra work....like I don't have enough to do Tim

ProZak, After I welded Dave's diff I took it for a quick spin around the block. Dave seems to be able to put up with it, but it would definitely drive me absolutely bonkers. Squeeling the tires at every turn, and pushing through the corners! It does look cool though when he paints double black lines on the road (at almost every intersection I bet haha). If you have a spare, weld it up and try it, you can always go back, swapping them (diffs) is a pretty painless excercise. Tim

Bang, Sounds like it's running very lean. First, check to see if the initial backfire didn't blow off one of the vaccuum lines or plugs (if you've removed any of the lines). You prbably have a leak, letting air in leaning out the mixtures. After checking all the lines, richen up the carbs all the way to see if that helps. I have a colortune and balance tool, so stop by if you need help tuning them. Tim

And most of all, don't forget to recline your seat as far back as possible, so you can just see over the dash. this lowers the car's center of gravity and give a serious traction boost....good for at least a second in the 1/4... Ha Ha ...you guys crack me up... Tim

Try bridging the solenoid to the positive from the battery (main terminal). That will tell you if the starter is bad. Tim

Shipping may make it less attractive, but look at bowtieoverdrives.com. They are in So. Cal. Tim

Need some quick help selecting pulleys
Tim240z replied to QWKDTSN's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Nion, I am going to run a single groove pulley and run the alt. and pump on one belt from the crank pulley. Looks neater only having one groove, I think anyway. Tim -
quote Rick, I agree with this. I just picked up two of these from the local parts shop. They are exhaust isolators from a mercedes...rubber pad with a stud on each end. Tim

Rear brake problem (pretty long)
Tim240z replied to Tim240z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
POsted by Dan: quote Dan, I have pulled the drums off several times and cleaned and lubed each time. The parking brake (I use all the time BTW) is adjusted on the cable to it's fullest amount, but I have to really pull up hard on the brake lever to stop the car from moving on even a slight hill!! Could it be that the adjusters aren't working at all!!?!?? Maybe it's time to put some disks in back. TIm
