  1. I think that this may be what John is refering to: These can be found at Port City Racing Tim
  2. T Zee, Thanks for the plug. To make it easier, just click on my homepage icon above. Tim BTW, (not to rain on your parade, Miles) but I would be a bit concerned that as the tranny torques/twists it will begin to tear the tunnel sheetmetal?! I welded in a second piece of 18 gauge sheetmetal on the inside of the tunnel (about 6" X 6") to reinforce the transmount. Maybe I'm just paranoid though.......
  3. Quickest and easiest would be to get a set of new coils (oem style) from MSA or Victoria British, and more than likely a new set of shocks. However, if you plan to go V8 eventually, you might want to consider a coil over conversion now. Thant will give the option of setting ride height and choosing spring rates (helpful once you do the swap, because the power of the V8 will make it squat more on hard take offs). It is more expensive now, but in the long run it will be a better option IMO. Mike's website has some pretty good deals: fonebooth.com Tim
  4. Beautiful man!! Looks very neat and clean!! Must be a blast to drive. Tim
  5. Yes, you definitely want to have the head at least looked at. More likely than not, it will be warped. It is not very expensive and is worth the effort, unless the head has other issues, which means it might be worthwile getting one from a junk yard, which you would still want to check for straight surface anyway. You can do it yourself with a very straight and square 'ruler' or machinist steel bar and a feeler guage. Not sure of the specs on which thickness feeler gauge to use though, I think it is somewhere around 0.01 Tim
  6. Mike, Although many say not to use any sealant on cork gaskets, I have always used hylamar with excellent results. It is more impervious to solvent breakdown than silicone sealants and doesn't completely 'set' like silicone, so when you want to take the gaskets off, you won't have to scrape them off. I recently reset the valve lash on my 2.4 inline 6 in my daily driver 240z and broke the valve cover gasket taking it off (no sealant was used initially), but I didn't have a new one, so a light coating of hylamar on both sides of the gasket and no leaks. I have used hylamar on all the gaskets on my V8, water pump, thermo housing, valve covers blah blah blah, and no leaks anywhere. Tim
  7. Bang, The use of coilovers offers full suspension adjustability, from ride height to spring rate. Also, the springs are much smaller in diameter so wider wheels (which would foul with the stock setup) can be used. Tim
  8. I think it was a Maxima....Owen....? Tim
  9. LJohnson, All my stuff is from Mike (scca). His web site is at fonebooth.com . The sleeves are 4 inch. The spring rates are 225lb in front and 250 rear. The sleeves rest on the welds from the original spring perches. The strut tubes are not sectioned. I don't want my car resting in the weeds, so I won't need to lower it to the point where sectioning is necessary. Tim
  10. As of about this time last year (or a little later?), Arizona Z cars no longer makes any fiberglass parts. Tim
  11. I got mine (1994 Q45) for $280 with the sideshafts, so I guess your deal is ok but not outstanding. See if he will throw in the driveshaft for free, then it will be better. I'm pretty sure they are all the same (maybe ratios differ??). I have pictures of mine on my site, so you can see if it's different. Tim
  12. Ya know, sometimes I question my thinking when I start dreaming of FI setup....gotta love the simplicity of carbs!! Hope you get it sorted soon Owen...U have the patience of a saint man!!. Tim

    r230 stuff

Len, Sorry no idea on the ratios, mine is from Q45 which is 3.54. Make sure to pick up the driveshaft, if for no other reason than to get the flange. I will have the adapters to the Z companion flange by next week. You could have them made up yourself pretty easily. I think owen has some pictures of the ones he has had made for his conversion. Tim
  14. FL327, I had hoped to have all the R230 stuff sorted by now, but for one reason or another (work and Family considerations) I am about two months behind schedule. I am going to finish mounting the suspension this weekend, and start ordering the sideshafts, driveshaft etc. I hope to be able to start test fitting it all in a couple of weekends (depending on how long Speedway takes with the sideshafts). I will definitely let everyone know and post specs and pictures. Tim
  15. Nah, GM definitely made 350s back then...I know 'cause I have one. Tim
  16. Looks like it's been fixed! Thanks HybridZ Gods. Tim
  17. Almost done with my suspension, so I can get the R230 all finished...FINALLY!! I've spent countless hours wirebrushing and sanding and painting my lower control arms and strut housings....now they look so nice that I hate to hang them under the car, outta site! If they aren't showing go to my page, they're posted on new stuff page. Tim
  18. Try the junk yards. I picked up my Camaro radiator for 25 bucks. Tim
  19. Try portcityracing.com. I doubt they have anything specific for the Z, but they may have something that you could adapt. Tim
  20. Hiro, Give me a call tonight...Owen has my number. Tim
  21. Dewzenol et al., This maybe a stupid question, so forgive me: Is it possible to take the LS1 fuel injection/management system (ie inlet manifold, injectors ect) and put it on another long block and have a FI engine, or would one have to buy an aftermarket FI system (which is expensive). For example, could one build a nice engine with aftermarket crank, pistons, rods, heads and valvetrain and stick the LS1 inlet manifold and associated stuff and management system on it and run? Thanks, Tim
  22. Mike, Any updates. Did you find the problem? Just curious. Tim
  23. I went to see it and took a lot of pictures. Needs quite a bit of work. Tim
  24. ROTFLMAO You guys really crack me up!! Big Kudos to Grumpy who is always willing to answer questions here, even when it's the same question over, and over, and over again Not to forget all the others, way too many to mention individually Tim
