  1. Thanks Grumpy, Bit disappointed in the numbers, thought it would be 20 or so HP more. Oh well. Any different cam suggestions. I know CHP got 400+ HP out of this kinda setup with a pretty wild cam. Thanks for the info.... Tim
  2. Wow, the more I read about these Vortecs the more I am happy about my purchase. I think with a bit of porting to the exhaust runners, they will flow better than most. Tim
  3. Nah, 16x7.5 is about the widest they have But that is generally wide enough unless you're going Gatorbacks Tim
  4. If you guys with DD2000 don't mind, could you punch some numbers for me? Pretty Please! 350ci STD bore Flat top pistons (9.8:1) Vortec heads (with factory(SDPC)upgraded valve springs) RPM Performer Inlet Manifold Holley 750 double pumper, mech. secondaries, with 1 inch spacer between it and manifold. Cam figures as follows: Cam lift: Int.=.300 Exh.=.307 Valve Lift: Int.=.450 Exh.=.460 Lobe centers: Both=114 Adv. Dur.: Int.=292 Exh=288 0.050 Dur.: Both=224 If there is a good deal of HP to be made with another cam (worthy of the work to swap), any recommendations. I would want the cam to make most of it's power at about 3500 RPM. I have ordered my copy of DD2000, but am getting impatient to get some numbers. Thanks, Tim
  5. Owen, What are you saying....I'm FAT, or maybe PHAT?!?!!? I fit in it great, but I am very used to the snugness of racing seats. Hell it beats the standard skateboard type 240Z seats I am just glad I could get the seats to fit between the tunnel and door brace Tim
  6. ZYA, They aren't eeveryones cup of tea, but I really like the TSW range. They have many of their styles available in the Datsun 4 bolt pattern and will give you the offset of your choice.... Here is their website: TSW Tim
  7. Here are the pictures. I know that Yahoo doesn't like to link pictures, but here goes: Otherwise here's the link for more Pictures: Owen, I hope that those boxes of Bud were still full and that you didn't polish them off before the install of the cell!!!!! Tim Cage Pics
  8. Lone, Yeah downdraft.. I ran this setup with an L28 in my old landrover....worked very nicely. I used a 36DCD weber, which was a bit on the small side, but I wanted the real low RPM throttle response for offroading. Tim
  9. Stony, I will tomorrow, Dialup sucks to send Pictures 24kps!!! I will send on the T1 line. Tim
  10. Owen, Yes I do have a single weber manifold for the L6. But if turbo is the end result, I'm not sure how easy the webers are to set up for a blowthru system. You would probably want to run a 40DGV Weber or maybe bigger Tim
  11. Got pictures, but I'm not about to try upload them from dialup connection. I will post them tomorrow from work.AKA 5:30am PST. Tim Owen, BTW thanks for the two extra pieces of tubing, came in very handy!!!!
  12. John, If you don't mind telling, what was the price (ballpark is fine). I've loved those things ever since I started watching the British touring car races. Is there one available for a SBC??!! Man my heart is racing!! Tim
  13. I have FINALLY finished my cage. In reading the previous post (how to build a cage), I must admit that buying the complete kit from S&W was probably a waste. The only thing that remained 'as delivered' was the main hoop. EVERYTHING else had to be modified, customized. Certainly this could be specific to my case, but the rest of the cage was not difficult to do from scratch. I would think that for the 2+2 if you could order just the hoop from S&W, and get the rest of the tubing locally, you would be set. I did all the cutting and shaping with my little 4" grinder (with a cutting disk obviously). If you have, or have access to, a bench mounted cutoff wheel and a tubing cutter, you could do the cage in about 1/4 of the time it took me. Getting nice straight angled cuts and round tube butt cuts are very time consuming without these tools, but obviously very possible. But man, I am so stoked to have my cage in Tim
  14. Went their website, and thay do all kinds of valve covers, breathers, aircleaners etc and they will put a custom logo or lettering on the items for you (engraved). Maybe a group buy with the HybridZ logo???? They are pretty close to me, I'm going to stop in and see what they have. Tim
  15. I know that we aren't supposed to be purists here, but OMG, that is sacrilege! ....waste of a nice car and a great drivetrain.
  16. Lone, My feelings have always been...build up completely, then disassemble, paint, reassemble. I've done it both ways with various other buildups and found that no matter how much planning is done, I always end up having to drill or weld something in as an afterthought. That kinda messes up the new paint or sound deadening, or something. It's a lot more work, and for we patience challenged, a lot more time, but the results will show the extra effort. IMO, FWIW. Tim
  17. Looks like you're coming along nicely. What did you do about the EGR valve clearance issue? Those headers look great!!, but a little low Tim
  18. Matt, I have a complete 240 motor.....
  19. I have no idea of price for the R230 mount, but I'll work something out. The only variable will be which Mustache bar you will be using. I have made my mount to fit with the R180 Mustache bar. I would need to pick up a R200 one to make a new Diff mount for that setup. If you guys are interested, let me know via email and I will get going. Tim PS, if anyone has an extra R200 mustache laying around and wants to donate for the cause......otherwise I'll be heading out to pick n pull or the like.
  20. If all the bolts are out (head) and the cam chain is off, and it is just the gasket holding the head in place, try feeding some rope into the bores, thru the spark plug holes, Loosen off the cam so that all the valves are closed and then crank the motor. That will pop off the head when the piston pushes the rope into the head. I've used this technique several time with success each time. Just make sure that all the bolts are out (leave a few in loosely so the head doesn't fall). Also, check the freeze plug on the front of the block (behind the timing chain). I have replaced the Head gasket twice on a L28 before learning that it wasn't the head gasket at all, but the timing chain was so loose it wore through the freeze plug. Hope this helps. Tim
  21. Not too sure about that one, but I saw some CV shafts on a maxima at a JY that LOOKED identical to the ZXT CV half shafts, was planning to pull them, but got tired and lazy, and since I am using R230 rear, wasn't all that important, but might be worth the effort for someone planning the R200 swap. Tim
  22. I would DEFINITELY be interested in the Pantera style hatch insert sinc Arizona Z doesn't do the fiberglass stuff anymore and I remember various post where several other have expressed the desire. I'm in line. CF dash would be cool, bit not just a cap. If you could mold in the mounting brackets etc, the CF should be stong enough on its own. That would be way cool Tim
  23. Since I have one as a template, I would be more than happy to copy it for anyone else...I'd probably make it a bit neater since it won't be for me. That includes the trans bracket. It is made for a 200 4R and will also fit a TH400 (same mounting place as 200 4R) and I have a 700R4 casing so I can do that one too. Tim
  24. OMG, my eyes are watering from laughter.....the image of that is just killing me!!! HAHAHAHA Tim
