Looks like it was cut on (notched) so the diff would clear, hence weakening the part. Just my opinion of course...

I have a complete lock set (ignition switch, door locks, glove box and rear hatch) off a '74. I'm not versed on interchangeability though... If they will work, and you're interested, shoot me your best offer thanks - joel

280z door armrest chrome trim piece - Question

I believe there is a plastic snap piece that goes on the door panel (under the bolt head that holds the arm rest). Do you have something like that to snap the chrome part to? -
I'll go in with you two guy's (Bootzd and ZT-R) if we can get 3 good short blocks that are the correct series....

Single stage spray paint. You are talking about the outside of the block, correct?

I used plain ol black engine paint from NAPA Auto Parts. It's held up fine for 8 yrs. I'm not sure how it would stand up to something like carb cleaner or such...

Sorry to hear this from you.... So many people have problems with these motors, it's insane! I guess I did something right. Going on 10,000 mi in mine w/o a hick-up. Do you have any suspicions on what caused your RIPS short motor to fail?? Brand of oil doesn't sound likely...
