  1. Geez, that Z in Oz would be worth a heap more. Wonder if the seller will export? Seriously.
  2. Wondering why this topic is here. Windtunnel Tests Results & Analysis????
  3. Yeh its a never ending saga that. But a manufacturer in New Zealand was tracked down, problem was for US buyers the shipping cost was just too much, quite a few hundred $ from memory. Cross Pacific shipping is run by theives and robbers, cost me US$300 to airfreight two brake rotors to Oz from the US. Die UPS
  4. Its interesting that some 'other' performance car fans and owners are in denial concerning the new GTR, some of the stuff they say is quite amusing In Oz we are used to the old GTR's spanking much higher priced performance cars for years, that from models which were essentially enhanced family cars. Now Nissan have built a purpose designed supercar for everyday use its not surprising that it is a good one, the Nismo version to come will be even better.
  5. No other pics that would help, the one in my gallery shows everything except the top of the main hoop though.
  6. Maybe the longer wheelbase 2+2 would be better for drifting? I don't know but would think that the longer wheelbase would allow easier angle control. Wonder how the Z31 rear end would fit? Thats another possible option.
  7. From research done for project S130 I think that such a mod would be impractical and not that much of an improvement anyway. The S13/14/15 front strut design is excellent and there is so much aftermarket stuff available, seriously you don't need to redesign the front end on your 240SX.
  8. Full S14 suspension front and back so there is no original 280Zx suspension left at all.
  9. Where are the pics of mods, c'mon S130 dudes.
  10. Is that what you suggest John, 75 bump, 25 rebound, for a motorsport orientated car? Anyway I'm thinking more about the effect of the ARB on front droop, particularly as with project S130 its going to need a fairly big one. Which will be firmly mounted, not like those wussy S30 ARB mounts.
  11. Yeh and thats so easy to check. With the ARB mounted as usual in the car remove one front wheel and the link that connects that end of the ARB to the lower control arm. With the other wheel firmly on the ground place a suitably sized piece of pipe over the end of the ARB and apply manual force to the end of the pipe, it needs to be long enough so you can apply a fair amount of force. Observe what happens!!! Everything flexes and moves, the thicker the ARB is the more movement and deflection you get in the bushes and mounting brackets and the less the ARB itself bends. Poly bushes don't help that much, they squash out quite easily. Which is why from memory this thread was started, POS stock S30 ARB mounts
  12. That looks like a decent read, do you do overseas subscriptions?
  13. Thats not a S14 rear end, S13, Z32, R??, anyone of those. But anyway you don't need a multilink rear end to drift, set the stock suspension up properly and away you go. Like the BMW in this vid, note the lines Similar semi trailing arm rear suspension.
  14. Front struts and brakes are on, brakes are a Stoptech S14 big brake kit, struts are custom MCA Proflex three way adjustables. EDIT: this S130 has S14 suspension all round.
  15. Frank's IMSA kit S130 is the one I'm looking forward to seeing, should be magic. Mine is booked to go on the dyno in early January so the pics on my website will be updated soon after fixing up a few problems, like the 17" wheels hitting the big kick arse Stoptech front brake setup. If I was modding a S130 again the motor would definately be changed but using a RB30/25DET bastard motor and the RB30ET manual gearbox, instead of the VG30DET and DETT box. But the stock suspension would basically be retained, perhaps modded similar to Frank's. A full suspension swap is just too time consuming and expensive, I'm not game to admit how much my full custom suspension cost.
  16. Yeh have seen pics of those 'turbo' joiners, a bit too loud for my taste. May be able to paint the back of them black to tone them down a bit?
  17. Yeh I was thinking just the other day that having near zero front droop would be similar to having a very stiff front ARB, in that both strongly limit any variation in droop between the two front wheels. In fact the 260Z I had was for a while fitted with a very stiff front ARB and round a corner near home that cambered left then right, the front wheel would come off the ground. You could feel it and hear a mild thump as it came back down to make contact with the road. Another point is that once an inner wheel reaches its droop limit in a corner, its spring is no longer tending to raise the inside of the car up, so adding to body roll. Anyway the front suspension is now setup for near zero droop so we'll see how it goes, once the rest of the car is finsihed.
  18. Thats the way mine will be done, eventually, using the stock first version S130 lights. Delete the stock number plate light setup, run some sort of (red?) joiner across between the two sets of stock lights and add concealed number plate lights.
  19. If you have broad shoulders then you are going to be cramped there in a S30, they are just not wide enough. So in that case a 'fairly flat across the shoulders' seat is the go, get your lateral support lower down.
  20. What he said ^ If it is similar to the Z32 et al multilink subframe setup, a set of poly mounting bushes is in order, solid (aluminium) if you are really serious. And don't mind a bit of vibration
  21. Not the RB30ET box either, that and the the RB30E are completely different, the former belonging to the Nissan 'bigbox' family. RB30ET box is similar to the VG30ET one.
  22. Yeh, I was reading an interesting old post of yours Cary where you mentioned minimumising torsional loads through the body. The original reason for the lower rear spring rate was to counter the anti squat effect on the rear suspension, so rather than adding a rear ARB it may be better to increase the rear spring rate if the rear tyres show signs of distress.
  23. Its a bit of a balancing act Jon and I'm not sure its going to work. But what should help is the rear roll center being well above ground level and quite a bit higher than the front. That with the stiffer front springs and fairly big front ARB will hopefully keep body roll under control. If there is a problem then I'll look at using a rear ARB. Make sense?
  24. The anti squat has been reduced, it can be played with more if there is a corner exit power down problem. I'm thinking that the car could be 'interesting' to drive in that it may tend to lift a front wheel on an unevenly surfaced road. The rear suspension is softer than the front and has plenty of droop so perhaps that will help keep all four wheels on the ground most of the time.
  25. Thanks for going to the trouble to put that road test up John, first time I've seen weight distribution figures for the S130.
