  1. Bloody good thinking John, that is definately the go.
  2. Thinking about this a bit more it seems the first thing to do would be to get a whale tail spoiler. Then a single element wing which would be compatible with the tail. That way both the tail and wing could work together. Make sense?
  3. At the moment I'm thinking of a twin wing one, not as wide as the bodywork, with large side plates. Something like the one below although it looks like its a single not a twin.
  4. Chasing pics of winged S130's as it looks like the project car will need one to be competitive. Done properly it should look OK, presently thinking of one not too wide and just below roof level in height.
  5. Yeh the void by the door could go, the only dressing up a S130 needs is front and back. Pity you can't cut away and repair the rear quarters, should look good though.
  6. Single turbo should be good, that looks like a great motor to mod, excellent project.
  7. KAAZ have an excellent reputation in motorsport, I would not hesitate to use one from a quality viewpoint.
  8. With the fuel gauge sender I used the stock one, it has a single float with two separate sub circuits. Its just a matter of identifying which pins on the top of the sender to use. Used VDO gauges on mine but its all custom, there is a pic in my site gallery, click on the link below.
  9. Not quite sure what you are after. A stand arrangement to support the engine/box off the floor? Sounds like a smacko project
  10. Whether or not squat is causing the breakages it would be a good idea to get that under control, at the very least to reduce the camber change effect on tyre to ground contact. This can be done by changing the semi trailing arm's swing angularity, common thing to do on 510's and BMW's.
  11. Difference between a forum, as in here, and a website though Afshin. As I said before, the lack of technical web info on the S130 is a worry. Not the motor etc but those parts peculiar to the S130 and the modification of same. I don't think that the S30 blokes have much of an idea about the S130 suspension, particularly the rear semi trailing arm setup but the front as well.
  12. The motor he is using may create a problem as far as clearing the front Xmember and steering rack but I agree with you in principal. As a general rule, later model suspensions have better geometry and heaps of aftermarket stuff available too. Another way around his exhaust clearance problem would be to use a strut suspension which has front located tension rods eg S130, S13/14/15. Still its a nice job he's done
  13. I did not use the R32 suspension uprights/carriers, whatever they are called. Only the rotating R32 parts were used, I wanted to retain the basic S14 suspension even though it has an iron upright/carrier.
  14. A note on mixing and matching, with the S14 rear end you can fit without modification an entire (stronger) R32 driveline eg hubs right through to the diff, brakes too. I believe that these R32 parts are very similar if not the same as those from a Z32 although apparently there is some variation between NA and TT Z32 parts. The S14 uprights are retained, the R32's rotating parts and brakes simply replace the equivalent S14's parts. Thats all I know
  15. The s30's body is relatively weak compared with modern designs and needs all the strengthening help it can get when using a powerful motor, actually around the point mentioned above an additional Xmember will improve the situation in a stock car. Some very relevant and helpful comments have been made in this thread, from personal experience it can be hard to take notice of good advice when it means alteration of something we have already done.
  16. Pic of another wheel lifter. This Z is set up soft to run as a targa car, springs are in the low 200's, ARB's are light too. Considering all that its not sitting too bad for a car that is being pushed hard, light and stiff body helps.
  17. Compare the width of the twin and single cam engines, twin pictured below. Knowing what I know now the single cam would have been first choice.
  18. You will be lucky to find anyone in Oz that knows how to set up a 280ZX, which with its semi trailing arm rear suspension should make a good drifter. Don't know if a search will mention that all the original suspension rubber bushes will need replacing, preferably with poly ones, particularly the rear.
  19. The DE(T) should have a better spread of power though shouldn't it. Not knocking the E(T), just trying to justify my decision
  20. Nissan's 280ZX book shows it, from memory its at the point where the gear lever goes into the (manual) gearbox.
  21. Mate has problems fitting a four liter Ford Falcon straight six into his 260Z, the steering rack and the engines oil pump want the same space. So I'm thinking that a rack and pinion steering 280ZX Xmember may be the go. Anyone done this?
  22. Can't see the logic in Nissan specifying different engine oil pressures depending on the type of transmission. Might be an idea to check the specs in a (on line) workshop manual.
  23. There is always the Nissan multilink subframe setup in all its variations, Z32, Skylines, S13/14/15. Choice of the improved shortnose R200 and 230 diffs, various track widths, big brakes, 5 stud hubs, big CV axles. Multilink is an excellent suspension with heaps of aftermarket support, including suspension arms that change the roll center. See 30 secs in for multilink doing the job, turn the volume up Toyota double A arm subframe setup may be worth a look too.
  24. My summary of that newsletter would be - if getting rear wheel traction is more important than mid corner speed, then having a suspension setup that results in the occasional lifting of an inside front is the price to be paid. Yeh? Note the term 'optimum rearward acceleration' used in the newsletter
