  1. Read the text then check out the video! http://www.microworks.net/dave/viper.html Yasin
  2. or use a home made stethoscope - a rubber tube attached to your ear and listen as you run the other end along your lines. Yasin
  3. 240Z Turbo - That is awesome! Is that a FC or FD RX7? Thats a neat location for the position of the Turbo - never seen an SR with a turbo sitting in front of the engine. Good luck - Yasin
  4. The blue 4.3L powered 240Z that races at Mosport is a full tube frame race car and used to run an EFI L28 TECII with 6individual throttle bodies. The car is substantially more powerful with the carb'd 4.3L V6. I used to know the ball park on how much power it was putting out with the 4.3L, but it is something really ridiculous. Expect to fabricate new engine and tranny mounts to fit this motor in. A twin turbo 4.3L - now thats sick! Yasin
  5. Well apparently both guys have now got their cars fixed. There was a long thread on the VW GolfJetta Forum where the owner of the Jetta said that he got his TDI repaired (probably at a huge cost) but he was still pissed at the MR2 owner as he never apologized for idiocy. I still think the idiot in the MR2 tried to do a 180 and spin the car and around and show off, but he obviously had not idea at all what he was doing. Apparently this video is now one of the most poplular downloaded "car videos" off the 'net in the past few weeks. Yasin
  6. More foolish carnage from the streets.....bet that MR2Turbo’s suspension is probably wrecked to pieces. The damage on the surface does not look too bad - but I bet its torn to pieces beneath. Too bad about the Jetta as well. The TypeR could have been easily taken out too. Looks like the video was shot in Florida. http://rrzone.com/files/uploads/mr2crash.mpeg Yasin
  7. J- that looks simply awesome - I hope it fits really well too. Let us know! Regards - Yasin
  8. Stony..awesome footage...congrats! I am quivering watching your car walk down the 1320! P.S: Also loved the Truth Hurts background music Yasin
  9. Hahaha....that guy is a total loser. The ironic thing is that his Camaro was faster against the CL with the AC on. On the second run, he got pumped so hard it looked like he was standing still. Obviously he needs to know how to drive...as he looks like a young kid. Props to the CL though. Yasin
  10. BLKMGK - I think you are comparing apples with oranges here buddy. Thats neat you have a powerful Supra with lots of hp, but I am talking a brand new car with a 5year plus factory warranty. You cannot beat the value of the 350Z, no ifs, ands or buts. Also the RX7, Supra and Z32 died because of terribly low sales. The RX7 emission problem was going to be addressed by Mazda USA, but the cost of getting the 13B to breathe cleaner was not worth the R&D, as sales had slumped so low that the boys in head office knoew they were going to pull the plug on the car. I have heard many people compare the 350Z to the Audi TT - but I personally think the 350Z is light years ahead of the TT, haven driven the Turbo TT. L8R - Yasin
  11. I really love the new 350Z - its a great driving, handling and breaking car for $27grand. You have to really drive it to appreciate it. I think its a great looking car, very handsome and I think it will age extremely well. If I had the finances I would have one for sure. As for why Nissan did not offer a Twin Turbo package? Simple....they wanted to take the car back to an affordable price similar to the 240Z back in the day. Nissan learnt their lesson with the Z32 Twin Turbo, these cars got so expensive by 1996, that the dealers were begging people to buy them, even in NA form much less Twin Turbo. Same thing happened to Toyota with the Supra and Mazda with the RX7, the change to a more SUV and minivan driven market also helped in the demise of these great cars. Regardless where can you get a car thats close to 300hp for $27grand. Who cares if the car is slower than the LS1 'Vettes - we're talking apples and oranges here. It would have been interesting if Nissan did offer a twin Turbo 350Z an option only but I bet the sales of this type of model would be VERY low and almost unprofitable. Nissan basically claimed brankruptcy a few years ago and that's when Renault bought them and created the Revival Program, they want to build profitable (but enthusiast) cars. After all thats why the Altimas, Pathfinders, Maximas, G35, QX4 etc etc all share the VQ35 engine - but who cares - its a great engine and platform. As for carbon fiber - all the Honda guys cheapen it and make it look "ricey". However I think its awesome, light and strong to have on your car. I would love if a CF hood (or any other body panel)was available for my Z. I had a custom CF hood made for my ole skool RWD Toyota Corolla and I love the fact that its 11lbs versus the stock 33lb steel hood. It looks great and I have no regrets splurging a bit to buy it. But everyone has their own indiviual taste and style, thats what makes us unique. Yasin
  12. Cripes! I'll just crawl back into the hole I just came out of.
  13. Hey Gang - spotted by one of my friends coming out of a self serve car wash in Anaheim. Car was dumped sitting on 19s, with a pretty big front mount intercooler. The driver owner was leaving and my buddy chased him with his MR2 Turbo and caught him at the lights. Apparently this is the new project car for Axis wheels and the owner of Axis, its his car. Afterwards we went to the dealership to test drive the new Touring model and without telling the Manager what we just saw. He said they had the 350Z up on the hoist and the way the exhaust runs and the way the engine is positioned, it is almost like Nissan deliberately designed the car for a twin turbo set-up. Ha - imagine that! I heard rumors of a few Japanese companies developing Turbo kits for the 350Z and new it would be a question of time before we started seeing them - but wow this is pretty soon! Unfortunately he got no pics - damn! But I am sure car will be making an appearance in some magazines soon. Regards - Yasin
  14. Air To Water: Pros: 1) Excellent thermal efficiency from 0mp/h to about 30mp/h 2) VERY minimal pressure drop as no long IC piping to the front of the car as with Front Mount Intercoolers 3) Can be easier to install, as opposed to snaking long 2-2.5" Ic piping in the engine compartment for Front Mount Intercoolers (debatable) Cons: 1) Requires a separate electric pump constanly cycling (most people use a Marine bilge pump) 2) Requires a separate rad mounted in the nose of the car, which will be like fitting a Front Mount Intercooler in the first place 3) Requires a separate holding tank for the coolant 4) Lots of hose plumbing, more chance of leak and more lines in your engine compartment 5) More electrical load due to the pump cycling all the time I thought about running an air to water IC a few years ago, but abandoned the idea, as you see the cons outway the pros. So I am going the Front Mount Intercooler route soon. Anyone feel free to add to my post. Hope that helps - Yasin
  15. Ninja - Well I have never seen a Starion motor in a Z. Even though in stock form they have a little more hp than a stock L28ET, they definately do not have the same tuning potential as the L28ET. The 2.6L Mitusbishi engine just does not breathe very well and have many inherent problmes, and I know several people are extracting some impressive horsepower from these 4cylinders but it comes at an extrememly high cost. The effort required to drop this motor into your Z, you would be better off developing a L28ET, which if you scour the scrap yard you can get cheaply. If you do decide to still go with this engine swap, let us know how its goes and how it runs. Good luck either way. Regards - Yasin
  16. Good ole winter, many of our Zs would be like the IROC. Enjoy the video, if you have dial-up it will take forever (warning). http://www.stephen.anaxified.com/snowdaylq.wmv Puts the whole AWDFWDRWD into perspective and also how tires makes a world of difference. Enjoy! Yasin
  17. If the Weber TB is in great shape, I say between $80 to $100, as thats how much it will cost you to get a used 240SXKA24DE TB from a scrap yard and the 1" spacer made. If its your buddy, then he should cut you a sweet deal too I have not seen the Mustang TB mounted on a "L" engine, but would like to see how that hooks up. I have heard of people using it as well. Hope that helps ya - Yasin
  18. Did you see the size of the air to water IC in the passenger side and the Ic piping? WOW! Wonder what it runs? Yasin

    VR6

Ian - My buddy who works for VW Head Office had and has a total of 5 VWs - makes sense as he works for them and is a die hard VW owner. He would get all the reports back from various dealerships that did warranty work on the first gen VR6s, and they had problems with the EFI systems and other related electrical problems. I cannot specifically say what the problem were as this is going back several years. VW probably addressed these issues and the newer gen. VR6s are probably as reliable as anything out there. But as an aside, the VW mechanics used to call the VR6 Jettas "Grettas" due to their temperanmental problems. My buddy's personal VR6 auto Jetta seemed like it spent more time at the dealer to get warranty work done, than him enjoying it and I know he is not the exception. Mind you the car ran well, when it was in full song. As an aside the 1.8T 5 valver has been deliberately sandbagged in terms of hp by VW. As they wanted the VR6 to remain their top of the range motor. My buddy dyno's his bone stock (down to the exhaust & filter) 1.8T and it kicked 168hp at the wheels! Which means its just as powerful as the VR6, naturally VW does not want to promote that as it will rob sales of the VR6, as the VR6 option is quite lofty. I stand corrected on VW wanting to kill the VR6, they were initally thinking about doing this, but decided to up the ante and get some more hp out it, thereby still making it their creme de la creme engine and distancing it from the 1.8T. You make some great points otherwise and thanks for the healthy discussion. Regards - Yasin
  20. TomahawkZ - Thanks for the plug! It took me almost 2months to get everything finished and I am pleased with the overall result - I am glad that the effort was worth it. To answer your questions. The adjusting sleeves you are referring to, you mean the threaded collars right? If so, I purchased them from Mike G (SCCA) at fonebooth.com The strut spacers I bought off eBay from Rick from Vancouver with the RB26DETT 240Z that was advertised and it took me about 20minutes to polish and buff them. Good luck on the 280ZX V8! Regards - Yasin
  21. Hi Ross - I had no idea you had a coilover set-up available for the 280ZX - oh well - I learnt alot by putting this kit together. I could not find rear Illuminas ANYWHERE - holy cow - I am shocked to see you have them! I had to end up using Tokico Pro-DraG (the green race ones) on the back and I had to cut the perches off them - naturally that hurt, as I paid a pretty penny for these shocks, as they are so rare now. I am also running an 8" spring in the rear as well BTW. Here is my site - does my rear set-up look similar to yours? www.picturetrail.com/slownrusty Regards - Yasin BTW - nice website - just bookmarked it.

Sorry bro - but a VR6 in a Z? Huh. Don't think you would get a tranny to work, plus the torque isn't all that great. VR6s are notorious for electrical troubles, I wouldn't touch one with a 6ft pole. My friend works for VW Head Office and they will be killing the VR6 pretty soon. The 1.8L 5valve turbo is much superior engine. Yasin
  23. Scottie - Can you tell me what the dimensions of the core on the Medium Sized NPR IC is (left on your pic), if its not too much trouble. Thanks! - Yasin
  24. I am running 20mm strut spacers that I bought off eBay and that eliminated any negative camber (I lovered my car 2") on kmy car. You can see pics at: www.picturetrail.com/slownrusty Hope that helps you. Negative camber is not all that bad, many Japanese races like a coupel of degrees of negative camber for very quick trakc turn in, I don;t mind how it looks, but yes it will wear your tires unevenly. Hope that helps - Yasin
  25. I bought a set of coilovers from Mike G (SCCA) and it took me ages to figure out how to adapt them to my 280ZX, as I guess not many people have coil overed a 280ZX. I am happy with the finished product, although the installation was quite frustrating, as this was the first time trying to adapt such a custom suspension set-up on my car. Mike's prices were great ($400 for the entire set) and he helped me out as much as he could, which was duly appreciated. Full write up coming soon on my website. Hope that helps. Yasin
