  1. Getrag close ratio 6speed and a 4pinion LSD retaining the independent rear end.
  2. Its amazing that we have 14 or so members comment very positively on the car in this thread. You are the ONLY one to comment negatively. The car has zero "tacked" things under the car, has ABSOLUTELY zero rusty sheet metal (still waiting for you to tell me where that is), and the fuel pump mount (which you could not distinguish a fuel filter and fuel pump..LOL) is absolutely fine. Did you see the picture I posted above of how a stock 280ZX Turbo fuel pump is mounted it is almost identical (same height off the ground and similar clamps). As a reference, a stock Nissan truck (up to 1992) which actually are designed to see alot of rocks have their fuel pumps mounted straight on the lowest portion of the frame rail literally inches off the ground and sit lower than the pumps on Jeff's Lexus. By the way the clamps holding those Bosch Motorsport fuel pumps are not your regular run of the mill "radiator" style worm and roller clamps, they are actually sold by Bosch and can withstand 180psi. I feel strongly to defend my friend Jeff's car as I have been around some cobbled together cars, and trust me this car is the furthest from that and has the finest of the finest parts and fabrication on it. The MoTec Dash on it alone cost more than a brand new LS1 or LS2 crate engine. If the car was not something impressive to share I would not waste HybridZ members time by posting a cobbled together car. It amazes me that there will always be a few people who will always be the "bur on the saddle". If you want to discuss with me, lets take it offline, or PM me (slownrusty@yahoo.com). Yasin
  3. I have always had a weakness for these cars, to me it represented a time when Toyota were pioneering Technology and interested in building great cars, unlike today where their focus is Camrys, Avalons...hopefully that will change with the new Supra. Anyway, my closest friend Shawn, has this '91 MR2 Turbo that has lived a beautifully charmed life, it has less than 50K miles on the 3SGTE motor! Still has the original timing belt! The car has lived a charmed and garaged life and at the same time tastefully upgraded in the 8years or so he has owned it. This car has been driven probably twice in the last 8months. Some upgrades: 1) Spearco Air To Water Intercooler 2) T3T4 Turbo 3) Custom 3" Downpipe 4) 38mm TiAL wastegate 5) Full 3" Stainless Authentic GarageFuki Exhaust 6) Running 15-16psi of boost 7) Autometer Gages, HKS Elec. Boost Controller 8) Beautiful $$ Bride seats (sorry forgot to photograph) 9) Some nice suspension work 10) Rota 17" Wheels The car is putting down a conservative 300hp (probably more actually), it boogies. These cars are pain in the a$$ to work on and after wrenching on them, I feel like I need to go see the chiropractor..LOL! With it being mid-engined, you are always stretched over trying to get to things and my lower back makes sure and lets me know. Still a beautiful and stunning car. A clutch job is pending, that I will more than likely being participating-in, should be interesting. Here are the pics, what do you guys think....? Happy weekend to all! Yasin
  4. Exactly...the car is still in the build stages, it has been for quite a few years now, hence the dust and some of the clutter. Trust me this car will be quite an engineering feat and beautifully executed when completed. No stone will be left unturned. A Moroso External Kill switch will be mounted in the upcoming weeks. And for certain clueless people (that cannot differentiate between a Fuel Filter and Pump), this is how a factory fuel pump on a 280ZX Turbo is mounted no lower than the Lexus featured here, with clamps just as strong: Yasin
  5. Yup you got it...love that ole skool! Yasin
  6. Turbocharged Mazda 323GT...only 700 imported to the US 420hp... Yasin
  7. All great discussions guys and thanks all for chiming in. This will make for great archived material down the road for any member pursuing engine building. I feel that the wrist pin is usually overlooked, I say that loosely. I am still not a big fan of the pressed-in (bronze) bushed small end as I have seen one move 14" when tearing down a motor. I would hate to see the soup if it had come loose all the way. Plus they wear out...all be it after quite a long time. I am anxious to pursue the DLC coatings and will post the pics of what the pins look like after I get them back. Yasin
  8. Thank you for saying that and recognizing the efforts and ATTENTION TO DETAIL! Yasin
  9. I caught my first show of the new season tonight (which is the second show aired on this latest 4th season)....here are my beefs: 1) Why the hell was an Olds 98 racing - first of all...a stock stripped out, Piece of Wood? Isn't this show about fast performance cars? Whats next week Mom's Chrysler Minivan with faux wood panelling? Boooo! 2) I much preferred the hype (some of it was downright funny) with the negotiations between the teams arguing back and forth on the older seasons, now Rich negotiates with the drivers separately in a secluded part of the track. 3) Why is Rich's signalling his hands backwards now - does he have tendinitis? 4) They do not list the hp and mods of each car like in the older seasons. 5) I do not like how each team can go and check out each other's cars and ALSO start them-up without the owner not present. 6) Rich is still an idiot.... I hope this is the last season....but saldy I will probably watch each episode making ME lousy...LOL! What are your thoughts of this new season so far? Yasin
  10. I'll check with Jeff to see if there AN-6 or -8. PopN - Trust me there is nothing "tacked" under the car...if you are not seeing the attention to detail, I am not going to waste your or my time to explain. Prox - Yes this car is local to me... Yasin
  11. Its actually a Civic with a Mustang Body Kit.
  12. PopN - He has 2xAN6 lines feeding the motor, one from each Bosch Motorsport pump. Fuel rail is dual feed. Thanks for all the compliments, I'll pass them along. Yasin
  13. Guys - As my build is coming together its time to address the piston pin which I received with my new custom JE Pistons. I spoke at length today with Greg Whitehead of Whitehead Performance (http://www.whiteheadperformance.com) to chit chat about options of running the 240Z 9mm steel rods and the JE Pistons. I decided that the best option is to go full floating rods, so The options are: 1) Pressed Pin (steel rod on steel pin with oil holes drilled) - not really an option 2) Pressed Pin with brass bushing -or- try something new and innovative 3) Coat the pin with DLC, making the brass bushing not needed. DLC stands for Diamond Like Coating and the ONLY car that uses this from the factory right now is the Honda S2000 (I confirmed this with the rep from JE). Formula 1 and Nascar also use this technology right now as well as the Motorcycle industry. Benefits: 1) Relatively cheap - $40 per pin (cheaper than buying Carillo Rods with the bushing already installed...LOL!) 2) Is applied in 3 layers and will not wear-out or "gall" 3) Provides full floating and lubriation 4) Means you do not have to run a Brass bushing, so no honing out the small end of the rod (sacrificng strength). Plus bushings do wear out and are a real precise install, if you are off even 1/2 degree it translates to trouble down the road. Also no chance of the bushing moving as the engine is subjected to loads over time etc etc 5) Have been tested to stand up to extremely high hp levels Very few places in the US offer this service, but I am VERY excited to try it. I will post pics when I get the pins back. Thought I would share. Yasin
  14. Looking great as always Yasin
  15. Fellas - You will enjoy and appreciate this!!! I have been around incredible cars all my life from Lamborghinis, all kinds of Porsche Turbos, my friend's dad owns the largest private BMW collection in the US etc etc, this list goes on....... But this car truly made me actually feel nauseous, it was so overwhelming. My friend Jeff called and said his SC300 Turbo project is almost finished, and I thought I would run down and check it out - I was blown away. I had heard it was impressive, but head no idea what was in store for me.... This car is going to put down 1200-1300whp when done. The attention to detail, the quality of the parts used and $$$ invested is blushing! Words are failing me actually...I was humbled! It started off as an Auto NA clean 1995 SC300.... Then got converted to a TT 2JZ and a fun street car that put down 400whp... The Jeff went all the way and decided no more messing.... The car is now running: 1) A fully built 3.4L Stroker with forged Pistons and Rods (Carillo), ARP top to bottom 2) The Turbo I forget the specs but its the largest turbo I have ever seen on a car! 3) The Downpipe is 5" (!!) 4) The Exhaust is a full 5" 5) Intercooler outlet and inlet is 4" 6) CNC ported Head. 1mm oversized valves, 280degree cams with 9.5mm lift 7) Full Race tubular manifold 8) MoTec Dash!! 9) MoTec M48 Standalone 10) Custom intake manifold with an AccuFab Throttle Body 11) 6x1600cc RC Injectors 12) 2xBoch Motorsport Race Fuel Pumps 13) 50shot of NOS 14) Full cage and parachute 15) 2speed PowerGlide Tranny 16) Wiggens clamps for EVERYTHING! The list goes on and on..custom fabrication everyhwere you look....I will not even get into the chassis and detail to the suspension and brakes and rear end..I will let the pictures do the talking... The car will be featured in NOPI this Spring (and possibly around the country). How quick it will do in the 14 is but a mere guess at this point... See the Blue 55Gallaon Drum in the corner! More pics to come as the car nears completion. Enjoy! Yasin
  16. Nice To see the thread back....and in true Datsun Z spirit, the pic with $20 in the Throttle Body is truly indicative that these things SUCK-IN Your MONEY!!!! Yasin
  17. Wow....simply simply beautiful....should be mounted on the wall next to the Picassos and Mona Lisa! Yasin
  18. All great replies thanks for all chiming in...this road rage thing just pi$$es me off, but sadly its part of everyday life. The scariest road range I witnessed: A few years ago, I actually saw two Italian guys driving a sweet Fox body Convertible 'Stang, lowered, DECH Kit, Simmons Wheels etc etc, they cut off a Cement truck as they were driving like a$$es in and out of traffic showing off. Low and behold the light turns red, the Cement truck pulls in behind the 'Stang, two monster guys come out of the cement truck, drag the Italian guys out of the 'Stang and pummel them for several minutes, I have never seen so much blood! Yasin
  19. YES PLEASE!!!!! PRETTY PLEASE!!!! Glad you are fine as well Paul, a good strong car to be in for sure!
  20. Paul why was the car repainted? Great purchase and congrats? Yasin
  21. "135 Holy Francing Shoot".... That S13 was moving pretty good itself. Great vid and congrats...your car is incredible! Yasin
  22. Thanks for the replies guys. I kept saying get away from me Troll! Sorry to generalize but I absolutely believe there is a stereotype with guys who drive big SUVs and Full Size Trucks, they enjoy the intimidation factor, in fact I heard the guys talking about it at work, most of the guys talking about it own Turbo Diesel Rams or PowerStrokes. They were all having a good laugh about it. BillZ260 - That is a true statement, you never know who is packing heat...that is a good point. Boy...I did feel like bringing my car to a dead halt on the Interstate and taking my tire iron to his headlights! Yasin
