  1. Yes, most definitely will be painted. It's amazing how the camera pics up on things. The paint job is for crap on the car. It's a 10 footer job.
  2. The whole car is very clean. The hard part is I love the flares too! I'm looking at using magnets to hold them on as well with felt to protect the paint.
  3. I'm in no way a hard core keep it stock kind of a guy, but the idea of cutting my rear fender wells is a kind of out of the question. I just can’t bring myself to it. Front fenders can be replaced so big deal. Anyway, Zgads old car that I bought and destroyed had these beautiful HRE 245/45/16 wheels but all four corners were cut to accommodate and flares. I know it would look better with flares but does this look that bad or silly? Otherwise I’m stuck with the last photo, which isn’t bad at 15” but needs to have black centers.
  4. What kind of car? Was that the ZX on tampa craigslist? I thought his prices were high. Your prices seem a little on the low side. Offer that, but be expected he will want more.
  5. Welcome! Always try and search first. Maybe this might help. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=124838&highlight=wiring+280zx+mirrors You will need to find FSM (factory service Manual) with the electronics layout.
  6. You ever dyno it to figure out your power output? Nice vid too!
  7. Ideally hook it up. It's there for a reason. If not then vent it with an air filter of some kind.
  8. First thing, make sure you put oil in it and the levels are good. Do you notice wet looking oil anywhere near or around the turbo? I just looked at my 82 ZXT motor that is out of the car. I don't think it could be the down pipe. My thought it's the feed line at the top and squirting oil all over everything. That oil line goes around the back of the motor and under the intake manifold. If you don't see oil get in a well lit area or use a flashlight to look around the top of the turbo and have a buddy start the car and you see if you can find any oil squirting or leaking. If the turbo or area is soaked with oil, degrease and pressure wash the area and repeat above steps.
  9. Looks okay to me. Curious to how fumes would be. My thought was to run it a tad longer, muffler under the drive shaft and then bend it out to the passanger side right behind the rear door. But make the pipe big and flat like the NASCAR style. Is this a track car only?
  10. Sorry to waste anyones time. I have had a few to drink tonight if you know what I mean.
  11. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Q45-Datsun-240z-280Z-V-LSD-Differential-Bulletproof_W0QQitemZ150213975830QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item150213975830
  12. Who says you shouldn't solder wires in a car? How can that hurt? Go to wal-mart and get their cheap connectors package in the automotive section. Butt splices:
  13. I didn't read the trouble shooting guide but were vacuum leaks included? What about electrical connection to the thermostat? I've heard that can cause problems as well.
  14. Which tranny are you bolting up? T5? I've got a turbo motor w/T5 out of the car that I could possibly take the bolts out and measure. I cant do it until this weekend though.
  15. Oh man, thanks for this. I did this tonight and what a difference. Did you clean the sheath too? How? I was thinking of pulling the wires back out, clean again re-greasing and re-install the wires.
  16. When I got my car it came with poorly tuned SK 45's. I sold them on ebay and bought a TEC3 because I want a decent system for FI. I'm tight on money and have been saving for more parts, but in the mean time I have to get this car running. I've done nothing to until about 3 weeks ago and if I wait until I have the money I'll be dead. I got her fired up yesterday and she seemed to run pretty good. The motor is a temporary setup until more funds come in. Anyway, the car came with a fuel regulator up against the firewall and was right there so I ran it directly to the carbs. I used some thick piano wire bolted to the firewall and tiewrapped the hose to it. I only tied one end to allow for flexing of the motor. I'd like to get a little thicker wire then whats there. I was glad I found this thread were Jon M. Posted in: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=119492&highlight=return+line I had run a return line down the same path with a loop near the dist. and back against the firewall. Unfortuneately the return was clogged or kinked and nothing ever came out of it. I removed it tonight. Well after all that here it is:
  17. Thanks. Yes it is the original 73 tach.
  18. Oh man, I searched some more and I am more confussed then ever.
