Just an old 5.3 with 80k on the clock. LS1 intake installed and fuel rails/injectors (both ls1) -
From the album: The 5.3 Project
Finally after I bought a welder and had some warmer weather I got it all stitched up and rust mostly removed I got everything back in. New bushings, bearings, brake pads, rotors, ss brake lines, tokico illuminas spring/strut combo, etc... -
Going to Dyno -any pointers?
EastTnZ replied to RebekahsZ's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
I'm saying 390rwhp give or take 10 hp with the current engine configuration. And the dyno info looks like it's pretty much been covered. 8 days til we all find out! -
LS1 or LS2 motor into 240z - Budget wise.
EastTnZ replied to japanparts999's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
I wished I had found one at copart for cheap but I finally gave up and pieced mine together (still am actually lol). If I didn't have 2 finals in the same day during my last semester at school I could've scored a hail damaged SS for cheap... I almost died when I saw that it went for only $1600!!! And it only had around 60-70k miles on it. But yeah mostly 4k and up from what I've seen lately -
Getting LS2 240z ready to go to track
EastTnZ replied to RebekahsZ's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
That's awesome. Videos like these are one of the main reasons I even looked into building this car a couple years ago. I can't wait to try it out! I will be a novice and take some cones out but way to go RebekahsZ! Looks like fun! What size tire were you running? 225's? -

Holy crap! Wellll probably not going that route... I could buy quite a few spares or do something for cheaper than that but thanks for the info and pricing -

And how much do you have in your q45 setup in total? Lol I'm just gonna leave the 5.3 stock for now then beef it all up while the motors out and being built -

Eh yes and no on the 6.0. They're almost twice as much as 5.3's around here then to source an ls1 pan and alt bracket etc... If you're good at sourcing parts then it'll be close to the same but if I had to do it all over I'd probly wait another few months and buy a totaled z28 and go that route. Sourcing the Trans is the worst part in my experience. Plus if you boost the 5.3 or 6.0 and blow the engine another 5.3 is cheaper to come by lol -

Sweet. Sounds like I need to think about beefing mine up already and it's not even moving on its own power yet. Thanks for the info and I'll look into the solid axle some more. -

Love the videos! I can't wait to get mine on the road in the next month or so. Yeah it's adding up with full new suspension, bushings, mm adapters 300ZXT cv's, wheels, tires, brakes, mounts, fuel etc... I could go on forever but yeah mostly new and sanding the undercarriage and cleaning it all up it'll be fun. Yeah over $10k in 6 months and no driving yet is killing me. Yeah traction is the issue with these cars it seems. You need a rematch with the camaro on the track or stickier surface! Either way both cars scream 'MERICA!!! (I see the parts store will no longer warranty your u-joints! That gives me hope to keep building mine!) -

I'm replacing all but the shell, glass, and the dash lol. Should be fun and reliable. 5.3 from an Avalanche and a TR6060 from an '11 Camaro SS. $13k isn't that bad for almost a brand new car with the performance it'll have. -

Yep $10k nice start, I'm $13k deep so far and that's just mechanical stuff Including the $2k for the car -
what are you guys doing for throttle cables
EastTnZ replied to ls280z's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/72654-throttle-cable/ I've been set on using the lokar after so many others have. You can make a bracket to work with the stock setup or just bolt it to the firewall. Hope this helps -
Are they the 4" gauges or the 4-1/2" gauges? Thanks
-
Thanks for the offer on a place to fix it if they break. Memphis or LR sounds good to me. I'll be at the beach on the 15th of June so July is more doable and I can work out the bugs by then and maybe install some A/C! Oh and yeah I'm just outside of Knoxville, TN but I'm always up for a good road trip

Roughly what month are we shooting for in this invitational? I'm game for late summer because my car isn't ready yet. I'd be tempted to save some cash and drive it 550 miles (to Little Rock) instead of hauling it plus it should get there a little quicker if I'm driving the Z and not my truck I'll just buy an extra set of 300ZXT's just in case it acts up on the drag strip lol. How much did the whole weekend cost last year?

Thanks guys for all the info and experiences. I think I'll go with push lock lines and see how it goes. And yeah rebekahsz that's why I am gonna buy the dual outlet -8an tank lol speed is very addictive Does anybody by chance have a part number for a fuel rated valve to put in my fuel system? I've barely scratched the surface on looking for one but if somebody already has a setup that works please let me know. Zfan1 have you tried a walbro vs the bosche you just installed? How's the sound comparing the two? I don't think it'll matter because of my future exhaust setup will drown it out but I'm curious.

Ok I'm about ready to purchase my fuel setup (1 month out or less) and here's my delimma... I am using this car for almost everything: -daily driver -autocross/road coarse track days -weekend get away car with gf What's the most reliable setup for a fuel system using an aftermarket fuel cell? Pros and cons of each setup and I'm up for others ideas. I'm more than likely going with the following: -Corvette FPR (WIX 33737) -Walbro 255 Kit (GSL392) -Fuel Filter -Fuel Shut Off Valve near tank (ease of changing filters/pumps etc...) -16 or 20 gallon fuel cell with dual -8AN sump tank (plastic) from summit/jegs with fuel level sender for autometer gauges 0-90ohm... The question is which line setup is more long term without using SS hardlines? -Push Lock Hoses from major parts sellers (haven't seen it used often) -Aluminum Hardlines for bulk of fuel setup (worried about rubbing holes over long term/but cheaper for lines and fittings/still need braided for some sections/easy to flare) -SS Braided Lines (vapors coming through lines over time/how often to replace/more expensive) My HP goal is 350-375rwhp at the most so I don't worry about breaking my 300ZXT CV's as often. Hence the -6AN line choice. Thanks for the help in advance!

Thanks for the pics and info this is my exact "future setup" I just haven't bought the hoses yet. Already have the radiator

280Z LS1 T-56 swap for tightwads the real cost
EastTnZ replied to shupee's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Have any pics of the engine bay with that BRP Engine Mount setup? I'm curious how much room in front and behind the engine there is and the steering linkage location. What suspension mods? Oh and are the wheels XXR 531's? I have a set very similar to those Nice touch! Thanks -
