Galpin Auto Sports Scythe - "A Scythe for sore eyes"
Austin240Z replied to ShaggyZ's topic in Non Tech Board
That looks AWESOME Would definately drive it. -
Since you added the "E" to the L24 I'm wondering if you're trying to say it's fuel injected, and not carb'd? If it's fuel injected, I would assume it's using an L28 intake, and then you could just give ol' Pallnet's site a look see. He can make you an EFI rail for the L28 based on what style of injector you want to use. If it is indeed carb'd, which is what I'm guessing is the case... then an aftermarket rail will not be as easy to find. I actually do have an aftermarket rail for the dual SU's believe it or not. I bought it used for $20. I was told that it was made by Pallnet a couple of years back, but I dont know if he is still making them, and it was using an alluminum stock that, according to his site, he no longer uses. Either way, I'd check out Pallnet's site, and/or shoot him a PM.

Which one? What car?

>.> <.< I thought you were suggesting that I steal an LS1 for a second there.

Yeah, that can make things more time consuming. I've pulled motors and changed transmissions in fields, other peoples garages and driveways, a few clutch changes on the side of the road, usually with other peoples starter set of tools.

Yeah. I totally spaced on who you were till just now. I need to get your phone number man.

So I was out with Marc tonight, we went and picked up 55 gallons of corn (E85) Looks like he's going to run that. He's going to be tuning the car for E85 either tomorrow or the day after. Should be able to run at least 25psi at all times after the tune. Actually, I've got a Holset HX40w with a T3 flange already, I just need to replace the internals.

Here's the rear of My newly acquired ZZZap: mmmm... shelly goodness...

That would be Marc. He is indeed the fabricator for Boost Logic. I was there the night he first drove it home, Wicked car. He blew the head gasket a few weeks after it started running, then put in some new cams when he replaced the head gasket. About 3 weeks ago, he bent a rod. But the car is already back up and running. Currently he's running approximately 600 wheel horse power on race gas. I'm actually headed over to see him today and take him and a few other guys to the Austin Z club meeting. I got to ride in the car (running around 450horse on pump gas) during a race against 6 bikes. It's a beautiful thing. *edit* He's currently running a T67 turbo, but has plans to upgrade to a T76 in the near Future. He's a member of Hybrid Z "Street fighter" Here's his build thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=133245 *edit again* There's a lot of videos of the car in Phoenix Evo's Roll Race Vids on street fire, Roll Race 12 specifically has a lot of the car

Man, I've done some dumb sh!t when building a motor, but atleast I KNOW and ADMIT all the stupid things I've done. This guy has way too much time and money, and no sense.... For a guy who knows about Singh Grooves, you'd think he'd know what plastigauge is. This is PAINFUL to read. But hilarious none the less. -
4 hour clutch job? 4 hour tranny swap? 7 hours for the motor?I must be spending too much time working on S30's... Clutch and or tranny swap takes me around an hour and a half to 2 hours. Removing a fuel injected l28, the transmission, and the wiring harness all in one pass takes me an even 2 hours. Putting the engine/trans/wiring harness back in takes about 2 and a half to 3 hours, I usually take my time checking that everything is hooked up right. Currently I dont have a running S30. Both are stripped down to just the chassis. But I plan on DDing my ZZZap 280Z once it's all back together. I'm really looking forward to it infact.

To be honest, I dont think it's a Zap. it does however have the Zap's 411 Sunburst Yellow Paint code. I've done some looking on the net, and most info I've found seems to indicate that this paint color was only available on the Zap... But a post I saw on Zcar.com leads me to believe that there were indeed non-Zap cars in the Sunburst Yellow 411 code. <- This is what I believe to be the case with my car. I just dont seem to be able to find a definitive answer, or any way to verify whether or not a car was originally a Zap (unless it's still intact and retains the Zap stripes)

MSA offers the lambo doors for the S30 http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/EA38/30-2089

I could believe that given the circumstances

Seconded. I think they would look pretty wicked at an angle like so: Top on the outside and Bottom on the inside

this thread makes me feel a lot better about my rusty 240

Some folks on a different forum have led me to believe that it might have a ZZZap Special Edition. It has car has the Paint Code: 411 Sunburst Yellow. Only available in 1977, the paint code was part of the ZZZap Special Edition Package. Only around 1000 were made. Paint Codes:http://zhome.com/History/ZColorGallary/index.html The car does not have the Zap Stripes on it now, and I cannot find any evidence that they ever were. Most of the info I found seems to indicate that this color was only available on the Zap. But I found some info that leads me to believe that some cars may have been made in the 411 paint code without being the Zap edition. Still trying to see what I can dig up. Anyone know more about the ZZZap Edition? Or if the Sun Burst Yellow was availible on regular non Zap 280s?

ummm.... I think you are mistaken. It is an S30

So a very good friend of mine, Rob, who is a fellow S30 fanatic and President of the CZOT (Capitol Z Of Texas) club happened across a pretty nice shell for next to nothing a few weeks ago. He knew I was looking for a good quality rust free shell(who isnt?) So he sent it my way. No engine, No transmission. These are the pictures he sent me: From the pictures, there is no real visible rust. So I jumped at the chance to pick this car up. Being that it is an S30, I figured there would be SOME rust SOMEWHERE... but I would have to wait till I could see it in person to really find out how much hidden rust there was. A week later, We went to pick it up. THE CAR IS WONDERFUL. I was expecting Just the shell, wasnt sure if there was even a title. What I got was more than I could have expected. The car is in pretty good shape. One small rust hole, easily ixable in the frame rail near the rear of the driver side, where the under coating had been scraped off some years ago. A small rust spot on each wheel well behind the doors, also easily fixable. And a little rust on the inner fender where the battery tray is. The Passenger door has a pretty substantial dent, but it can be fixed as well. In addition to the shell, EVERYTHING comes with it fenders trim, even the blue Nissan Air Box, original jack, and original extra lug nuts, still in the plastic packaging. The only thing missing is the Engine and Transmission. My concerns about whether it had a title or not quickly dissapeared when the owner pulled out three Items. An original Kansas Title, An original Datsun booklet with the Owners Manual in it, AND I booklet that said "CAR PAPERS" in big letters. According to the Title, the Car has had two owners. The Lady who original Bought it in '77, and then a man who bought the car used in '79. What the title does NOT show how ever is that, at some point before 1999, it was given to the mans son. Then in 2006 was sold to a man named Brook here in Austin. The Car is now safely in my shop, i have a few small rust spots and the dent to fix in the near future, and then I'll be painting it. Unfortunately, I dont have a working camera right now... So I dont have any more pictures of the car. BUT, my scanner does work, so here's all the paper work:
