  1. Love Kit Cars? Look at these kits in development and progression. Both from the same seller. They are replicating exotic designs on realistic donor platforms. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Replica-Kit-Makes-2006-F-rr-ri-F6-Fiberglass-only_W0QQitemZ4612812620QQcategoryZ7251QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem A lot of aluminum beating that one into shape. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Replica-Kit-Makes-Murc-Gal-Lamborgini-Galardo-Murc-Fiberglass-Kit_W0QQitemZ4611680494QQcategoryZ7251QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Makes me nostalgic for the ads I used to see in the 1960's Popular Mechanics - "Fiberfab / Bradley GT body on a VW belly pan". "Build it yourself in a few weekends!" I do get nervous, however whenever I see a Florida-based kit car seller. In the late 80's early 90's the industry got numerous black eyes from scammers based in Florida - then called the safe haven of frauds, crooks, and pirates because of the local laws.
  2. Another "retro" concept car. I think this one is a hit out of the park. I'm a huge fan of the orginal - here's what I like: Scoops in the right places, wheels updated from the 1967 pieces, left the silly "eyelashes" off the headlights. saw it here : http://www.autoblog.com/2006/01/06/lamborghini-miura-in-the-flesh/
  3. About 30 years ago I read an article in Hot Rod showing how to do this same treatment on a '65 Mustang (Like the Z, stock wheel wells are sized for D78-14 tires on 14x5 wheels). They used 1/2 dia. thinwall conduit for the edge. It added a lot of stiffness and gave the flare a smooth, non-bondo edge that would take a parking lot ding. it was hand-formed around the tire for the basic shape, then brazed to the ends of the sheet metal lip. The front corner was tapered in while the back edge carried down full width and then curved back so it had a built-in splash guard.
  4. There's the Body:Electrical fiche directory at z31.com http://z31.com/fiche/?3:a:1 Mod, Can you post some underhood pictures? I'm looking at doing a similar swap. Especially interested in the fit to the crossmember mounts, steering column, and exhaust. thanks
  5. You'd probably need every sensor from a Z31 transplanted as well, door switches, oil pressure s.u., water temperature s.u., speedometer, fuel tank sending units (there are 2 back there!) So you are looking at a lot of the wire harness from end to end. 300ZX Digital dashes are up on ebay every week, as well as parts and services to repair them. Good luck!
  6. No, it's done with a hammer and punch, or chisel, or cross-peen head hammer.....

  8. AZC sellz them - annodized in colors.
  9. The hat portion of the 300ZX rotor is shallower than the 240Z rotor due to the floater calipers. Spacers are needed to push the 300ZX rotor inboard to center it in the later Toyota 4-piston caliper. No spacers are needed when combining the stock 240Z rotors and non-vented early Toyota 4-piston calipers.
  10. That's a great look, a mix of modern tech, vintage Panasports, and 60's "Shelby" 10-spokes.
  11. Where can I get a decaffeinated coffee cup holder?
  12. Per the JTR method, The engine and transmission are offset about 1" to the passenger side for steering column clearance.

  14. Thought this was cool - http://www.vg30.com/510vg30install.html My favorite recomendation: "If at all possible, you should have the engine 6-8" off the floor so you'll have more room to work after you've lowered the car over the engine." Where did that 4bbl carb'd intake manifold come from?
  15. Something about the guys in this photo: Reminds me of Monty Python
  16. I believe the '84 Digital dash speedo sending unit is right at the top of the firewall, at the end of a standard speedo cable. You will simply have to adapt a "FORD" cable on that end. -or- the Nissan cable to a Ford transmission at the lower end.
  17. Please post links here, we'd be grateful for the swap info.

  19. Just throwing ideas around - Here are some plates, LSD parts that look similar to your drawings: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazda-RX7-RX-7-LSD-Limited-Slip-Differental-Plates_W0QQitemZ8028485862QQcategoryZ33731QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I think RX7s have a 7" ring gear (roughly 180mm dia i.e. R-180) no idea how big the differential case is.

  21. For those who can remember back 25 +/- years.... Did you want a Trans Am because of their 1/4 mile potential or because Burt Reynolds nails everthing in a skirt?
  22. Amidst random snaps from the Convention last Summer. Photo on page 62 and "Vinh Vo of Pittsburgh, PA, ...his 280ZX roadster to check out the show. Triple-grilled louvres on the front fenders with the Z logo from a 350 were nice touches."
