Will the stock 280 Z rotars bolt to the five lug 300 ZX hubs? Only if the rotors are drilled for 5 holes. The rotor bolt circle is not the dame as the wheel bolt circle (it's smaller) Don't know if they are the 5-bolt 300ZX and 4 bolt 280Z are same diameter and Don't know of any non-vented 5-bolt rotors with the proper offset. Will the 300ZX 5 lug Hubs mount to the 280 Z spindles? Yes - same wheel bearings I/D and O/D and same size spindles. Offset is a little different. I will throw out a tangent here also. I have read that the '70-'81 Camaro front hubs will fit 280Z spindles also. Never had the parts in hand to test this. But that's one way to get 5-bolt 4 3/4" circle wheels and big brakes on the front

Not that power (no lack of) is the issue, but I think the Z is too light to tow a load as heavy as another car. You'd risk jack-knifing it if you have to hit the brakes. I'd hire a tow truck - $60 buys peace of mind.

My '66 Mustang will start un any gear - there is no "safety switch" on either the clutch pedal nor the gearshift linkage. And it's all stock. The latest car I've driven without such frills was my dad's '70 Maverick. I've limped into a few gas stations using the starter motor when the tank was down to fumes!!!

Warning = vent follows!! I get really annoyed by the state inspection process here in Virginia. Maybe it's not as strict as other places but i moved here from Arizona and never saw such a fiasco. I always took my cars to small independent mechanics for this "service". $15 for a 1 year windshield sticker and a pink ticket with 18 checked off points. Once my '77 Spitfire failed because they couldn't find the catalytic converter and I was told by the talking head at the service counter that "someone has removed it and replaced it with a straight pipe". "We can fix it for $400." I played ignorant and walked back into the shop so he could "show" me the completely stock exhaust system. "What's that?" I innocently ask, pointing at the catalytic converter.....I guess that made him mad and he still failed my car because the horn "isn't loud enough". Again the stock original parts - there are 2 horns- pitched a high and a low. Both were working but I replaced the high pitch with a second low from a parts car - twice the decibels at low freq. Whilst in the shop I noted that these guys listen to a looping 8-track of "Freebird" cranked up loud so their hearing is probably shot. You have no recourse, other than to use another Saturday and take the car to another shop. I paid the $5 re-inspect fee after my no$ repairs, then exacted my revenge. Word-of-mouth advertising works both ways. I work for the area's largest employer over 13,000 people. I made sure that everyone who would listen knew about my experience at this particular garage and the name of the manager.

R-200 refers to the diameter of the Ring gear, which is 200mm which translates to 7 7/8". The working parts are just an inch shy of a 9" rear end.

Just a brainstorm near-topic..... Has Anybody looked into manufacturing stub axles? The supply of stock pieces seems to be shrinking, reasons: - They wear, and break (see ZPARTS site) - 240 racers want larger 280 axles - CVJ conversions want 240 and 280ZX axles for the companion flange spline count. New parts could be designed with a hub flange large enough for th 4.75" 5-bolt circle. Is there enough material on the end of a stock Chevrolet axle that could be cut off, turned down, re-splined and heat-treated. Wonder if Currie or Moser will take small prototype runs?

It could be friction welded or rusted, my guess is the outer strut tube is bent. the PO was parking it like the Blues Brothers and slid into a curb or something.... You're better off with a new (at least different) part.

I think he is trying to conserve petroleum resources by reducing the oilpan capacity by about 3 quarts.

It looks like it takes more room than a rotiserrie, a tilter would need the width of parking 2 spaces to tilt a car versus one to spin it.

I bought a seat re-upholstery set from JC Whitney, pn 78XD7493XF. They were made by Kar Kraft in California and fit my '77 seats perfectly. They aren't stock, in fact they look better with pleats and perforated vinyl. Best part was the price (they're usually $155), I believe I paid $115 ordering from their sale catalog.

The closest non-Ferrari engine I've ever heard that sounded like a Ferrari was a Datsun L-6!!!

There is kit car called the Evoluzione, that has Lambo-like scissor-hinge doors. You might investigate how its doors hinge works, it is based on the front-engine rear-drive Camaro/Firebird platform. More like a Z unibody than the Fiero-based Countach kits.

Ooooooooh. The Del Sol back window, Viper roof panel..... A Targa - top Z!

The cool thing about Countach doors is they swing from one corner, so you only need one hinge per door, it's a pain to get two hinges to line up in a short curved door. (both pins have to be in the same line - look at older cars and trucks with exposed hinges) I recall reading in a Kit Car magazine that some Lambo Countach replica homebuilders used large industrial/commercial door hinges. It looks like an overgrown house door hinge, but the pin rides on bearings or bushings. You might get lucky and find them at Lowe's.

Tips: Change the receiver/drier. Flush each section of hose separately.
