L28e died in my 280z... time to go with a l28et swap?
wickiewicked240z replied to joshp's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
L28et engines are harder to find and when you do they probably need a rebuild too. What exactly happened to your stock L28? -
I bought a 6an rail from Ross I wanted yo know if I can tap the ends with a m14x1.5 tap is the I.D of the rail to big for that tap. Or can I use a m16x1.5? I have a metric tap set that's why I'm using those sizes. Thanks

I would like to hear what you have to say on the subject Tony . I would of paid anything under $100 for San Diego Zcon car show but $200 heck no.I will be attending MSA bbq better.

So I just got on the website to see how much is going to cost to register for the car show Saturday for Zcon 2014. All I can say is WOW! $199 to register for car show and to bring a guest. $99 registration, $85 guest,$25 car show minus $9 for being a z car club member, I guess I won't be attending it.

Here are more pictures. Its such a pain in the .... When you don't have the right tools. Had to cut the aluminum with a cut off wheel on a miter saw. Next I need to cut the center panels. Im going to have to go to a shop with a brake to get a nice straight cut. I friend Juan finished the aluminum flange so I'll be able to bolt on a 240sx throttle body. -

240sx bellhousing machining cost.
wickiewicked240z replied to wickiewicked240z's topic in Non Tech Board
I called troy quoted me $150 with new bearing 1 week turn around. Which isn't bad but with the holidays been expending to much money. Might have to wait till the end of next month plus I need a new driveshaft another $250. -
I'm doing the 240sx transmission swap. I been looking around to find a machine/fabricator shop in southern California preferably inland empire area to do the machining on the bellhousing but haven't had good luck. What would be an average price to have a shop do it.

Going to go pick up a 240sx transmission tomorrow for my l28et. On Saturday I went to my friends house to see the progress of the custom intake manifold.

300zx twin turbo blown engine what to do.
wickiewicked240z replied to wickiewicked240z's topic in Non Tech Board
I don't think the turbos are bad cause if I start the engine and put a white rag on the exhaust tips there's no oil sticking to the rag when we had the original turbos which where leaking you could see the specks of oil on rag. -
300zx twin turbo blown engine what to do.

My brother wants to keep it. You know its hard to drop another $3,5oo in less than 3 months. -
My little Brother has a 1991 300zx twin turbo. Previous owner had mess with engine when my brother bought it, it was running good after awhile one of the injectors where acting up(previous owner installed rebuilt 740 injectors). Took it to a shop who specializes on Z cars guys fixes problems with car, new OEM injectors n tuned chip from z specialties, oil pan and other hoses. He has car running good and he calls us your turbos are shot the seals are starting to go out. So my brother decides to have him install z1 gt600 turbo kit $2300+ ain't cheap. We get car back car is running great then around 2 months later. My brother is driving car on freeway gets of off ramp and notices smoke coming out of both exhaust pipes. He gets car towed back home we start car idles fine doesn't overheat but still smokes but as u rev the engine u can hear knocking on engine. Now we don't know what to do rebuilt engine or buy a JDM engine and install new timing belt, water pump, oil pump. Now the shop we been taking the car wants to charge us $3500 for the rebuild does not include pistons, or crankshaft if it got mess up. If we take out the engine our selfs (uncle a mechanic) and rebuild somewhere else. He won't guarantee the 1 yr warranty on the turbos he installed. If we go JDM engine I can get one at a local shop for $1000 went to go look at one today engine looked clean I talked to a guy(moderator) on zilvia.net who has bought a couple of clips and engines from him and he said his engines are pretty good. What route should we go. Rebuild with shop and keep warranty on turbos, rebuild ourshelfs, JDM engine and change basic maintance parts.
