  1. Should be 3". Mine were only 2" and didn't fit the header. 1 call to jtr and had the right ones right away. MIke
  2. This was before I got the dash finished, but here is the walkaround vid- http://videos.streetfire.net/video/wm/98b045af-25a7-4e07-ad04-98b000644253.htm http://videos.streetfire.net/video/f/98b045af-25a7-4e07-ad04-98b000644253.htm Mike
  3. He (Ulises on this forum) is running a Magnaflow silencer, then a Magnaflow muffler same as I am. Mike
  4. Time I would definatley spend the few bucks to buy a good shop manual for this car. It will save you a bunch of time and money eliminating a lot of the oops factor. you can probably find one on ebay. Mike
  5. At your local Nissan dealer, about 75 bucks. I got one from my boys for my b-day last year. Mike
  6. As posted, I'm in mine something over 30K. At this point in my life, I could drive pretty much any car I would want. But I love this car. And today, like every time I drive it through town, I got stopped at the store and had to pop the hood, open the doors, and watch a couple of grown men drool. My wife always wants to know why it takes me an hour to run a 10 minute errand. It takes that long just to answer the questions. That doesn't happen with a Porshe, or Vette, or most any other car you can buy off the lot. And it will out run most any car you could just buy off the lot. Did I mention I love this car? Mike
  7. I don't have enough experience with any of the other LS motors, but I don't know how you could go wrong with any of them. I love my LS2. It is so easy to drive, and performs very well. You might PM Mike (mas280) as he has pretty extensive LS experience in Z's and FD's. He was a lot of help to me. And sorry about your engine problems. Good luck with the next one. Mike
  8. I can't drive mine as a DD. I get to drive my suburban cause it will carry all my stuff. On most days I try to get done early just so I can go waste some gas in the Z. {Sorry Al Gore}. Most of the time I'd rather drive it than the wife's 350Z. And mine will hold a fair amount of groceries-way more than her roadster. And as I've said before, it is a much easier to drive around town car since the swap. Mike
  9. You'll still get plenty of heat as long as water is going through the core. But it can still leak pretty good. I just changed mine a couple of weeks ago. Again. The last one only lasted 17 years or so, must have been defective. Mike
  10. Dan, I hope and pray that your house will be spared. You have done so much through this site for all of us. If there is anything we can do let us know. If you need a place to stay, and Idaho isn't too far..... Mike
  11. 1- get a carbed SBC 2- install carbed SBC There- nothing to it, and only 2 steps lol.
  12. Ask the guy to email you some pics of the rails. I'd probably go for it if all the parts are there, and when you get there he's been straight with you. It would be worth the drive to make sure. MIke
  13. I have wondered the same thing.
  14. If your rims are 7', the 225's should fit fine. I have 225/45-17's on all four now and am going to go wider in the rear. MIke
  15. I let mine go with the L6 when I sold it, but picked up new ones at NAPA. Not very expensive either. MIke
  16. It may be anoying but probably the easiest solution to adapt the Datsun senders. really not that hard and they work. Mike
  17. I'd get the Centerforce from MSA. I got one after going through a bunch of stock ones autocrossing. It lasted years and years (about 15) of some autocrossing and pretty hard street driving. Probably 75,000 miles. Was still in good shape when I sold the engine/trans to do the LS swap. Stiff but really good. Mike
  18. They look amazingly like my Corbeau's. They fit great and are really comfy, but do sit a little higher than stock. Mike
  19. It sounds like you have a pretty good idea on what you need to do to fix this stuff. As for #2, check your vacuum lines to the right side fenderwell, then to the heater controls. If they are cracked and probably are, you will not be getting vacuum to the heater valve, and no heat. Mike
  20. Boy, I've looked at this thread from time to time, but haven't really wanted to do the math for fear I'd be laughed at. But now some of you have posted that are probably, well maybe, more invested than I am. So here goes. $2300- 4 year old 78 280 purchased in 1982 $500- paint job a couple of years later. $250-Sway bars $750-Tockico springs and adjustable struts $1300-ported 260 head, 71 SU's, header $125-83 280ZX 5 speed. Drove it like that for another 15 years or so. $700-Power Brute LSD and install. -$250-Bought 72 240Z for $250, stole the roll bar, sold 240 for $500 $8000-Strip paint, body work, new paint, weather strip, carpet $1500-Corbeau leather seats (gift from my wife) $0-but priceless-1000's of hours doing research mostly on Hybridz $200-JTR books and Helms manuals $9200-05 GTO LS2/T56 with all accessories, pedals, computer, etc. $2200-Mounting kit, ac kit, fan, cableX, drive shaft, box from JCI $600-header and radiator from JTR $2000-4 different sets of wheels over 25 years (shopping again) $400-wiring parts for LS swap $400-programming ECU and Predator $100-air filter and plumbing $200-Misc adapters, nuts bolts, etc. Thats $30,475 and I still need to upgrade the brakes! BUT, that is only $1219 a year for the last 25 years, to drive a car I absolutely love. And that is PRICELESS! That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Mike
  21. I found a fully loaded .25 auto in a wrecked 280 I bought for parts. MIke
