Hey gang, Yet again I am calling on all those the are in California, or anyone that has been. here is the deal. My Girlfriend and I are taking a weekend trip mid march. we dont want to stray to far from Monterey, and we dont have alot of cash. We are looking for ideas for a nice affordable weekend getaway in the central, or northern california area. we dont have to spend the entire weekend in one place, but also dont mind it. is there any event that we shouldnt skip around mid march? what are the best snowboarding mtns in Cali. should I just accept the fact that im going to be spending alot of money. hmm..... whadayall think. -S

WOH Nick! your car is looking great, cant wait to see it all finished and tearing up the local pavement. its too bad you had to cover up all your carbon.kevlar work with paint. but the rear flares look great regardless! just wish i could see your handy work in person, but your wouldnt want that, I would get your car all wet with drool..... hmmmmmmmm.....sr20/s30.... -S

hey Nic, at least in Sac, you can take a quick drive up to Tahoe and play in the mountains. down here, its a eight hour drive just to get to New Mexico, and thier snow sucks most of the time. .... well, its morning, and the ground and cars are still white, but its not snow anymore. last night it stopped snowing shortly after it began, and turned to sleet. now a nice 1/4 layer of ice i need to scrape of my car before i hit the highway and take a stupid saturday morning test. BAH!

Help: Who has experience with spacers and track use?
Sparky replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I run adapters as well, many hard street miles and a few autoxs, with no ill effects. when you run the honda spacers, you are still keeping the wheel center line, just changing the offset. its when people run spacers with funky offset or backspacing, changing the center line of the wheel, that causes above average stress on your suspension and related parts. -
Hey Vince, glad to see your working on some more cool stuff, im very interested in a carbon fiber hood, but want it to be exactly like the hood i have on my turbo car (dont know if you remember it or not) lemme know if you want to see some pictures of the vent setup i have on my car. the great thing is, is that it looks like stock from a lot of different angles because it fits flush in the hood, but as soon as you get up on it its "like woh" haha...umm....yeah. anywho, ive been working on some carbon stuff for my car as well, it sure is a steep learning curve, many a mold has been trashed along with the fiber and resin. P.S. do you have any really cheap sources of vacuum bagging setups?

While I have never purchased from Vintage Air (but always plan too) I have been to their shop numerous times. They always have time for me, and always invite me to check out the shop and the newest project. Jack Chisenhall is a really nice guy in business and in person, and I would not hesitate to recommend his products to anyone. (plus his 200+ MPH street legal Studebaker is insane! I can never stop poking around that car.) stop by San Antonio sometime and check out the shop and grab a catalog. P.S. To answer your question, I know of two or three members on this board that have used vintage air in their first gen Zs. but for the life o me I cannot remember who they are. I do think you should check out the photo albums here, and on 240Z.org. I know there are several pictures posted on this out there.

Aerodynamic aids and 1/4 mile time improvements?
Sparky replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Does anybody have any Drag measurements for the Gnose bodied Zcars? I'm curious as to what kind of benefits, if any, you would see from that. -
sick. Prison is to easy for people like that. they should rape him in the bum with a giant red hot firepoker, then hang him upside down in town square (by the poker). keep him just out of reach so people cant stomp him or kick him, but leave a big pile of lightbulb sized jagged rocks for people to throw at him. makes me want to puke!

wrap it in a large tarp with eyeits in it. weave some heavy duty rope in all the eyelits and duct tape the tarp closed (like a big couch burrito. have some friends help you slowly lift the couch over the railing and then lower it down using the ends of the rope that was threaded in the eyelits. you can lower it down level with both ends suspended, or lower it down length wise so you can set one end on the ground then have somebody one the ground guide it safely to the ground. unwrap it, take a seat, and have a drink!

I have a "danger to manifold" warning light hidden in my air-con vents. it really is helpfull when im pushing my car to the Xtremes while running NAWS. but on another note. I would run EGT before 02 gauge, unless its wideband there really is very little point. the gauges that have the leds are constantly flashing and dancing around. you could always just put it on a seperate switch and turn it on when you need it. Fuel pressure would be nice, Nordskog has some gauges with built in programmable warning lights, if your pressure goes above or below a set point it lets you know. what I will be running on my car (if i ever get it back) is EGT, Boost, Fuel pressure, Oil pressure, water Temp, and AMPS. as Nic said, you can have plenty of volts, but your alt wont be pushing enough amps to charge it, you will notice your volts taking a sudden dip, and by then its too late. but an AMP gauge will show that its not charging, or having trouble charging.

Totally agree! while i really dislike body work, and will probably never paint my own car, I always read the paint and body section because racerX simply goes above and beyond when he posts. very informative, detailed and well writen. as you said Huy, I get more info about paint from this board than I have ever got from those "paint your car" books. RacerX, you should really consider writing a book. (actually, I might be painting my car afterall, probably will PM you if i dont find the info i need if thats all right)

I agree with Tim and the others. if it can be legally registered and inspected to be driven on the street, then its a street car. but on another note, i would have to say that a full interior makes it a street car as well in "feel" if its a gutted dashless keyless pushbutton just tach and oil pressure machine, then its hardly a street car, even though it can "legally" be driven on the street. am i making any sense? I need a nap.

Ya know, I was thinking, because so many of us have cars in the works, maybe this should be a yearly thing. for instance, the one drax is working on could be the "HybridZ year in review '03." then next year come January, we could all work on H.Z.Y.I.R '04, that way, we would all be given our chance (more or less, some of us will never finish) to have our 1.5 seconds of internet fame. (our cars would actually:) ) anywho...

Quato and his rebels are stealing them so they can build a super robot to activate the reactor!

there is only one band that can go with a hybridz vid, and thats Rage against the machine! .....for the first video...then maybe some My life with the thrill kill kult for the second. some really old ministry (from the mind is a terrible thing to taste") would be cool as well. Drax, can your email handle 10.8 megs? I have a 1 minute in car video of an autoX some time ago, it sounds so bad ass, and i start the run perfect with a RATM song that was in the CD player, would be cool to start with that than fade into the rest of the song and other vids, or maybe not!

I suppose I should have said not many large service providers use it instead of making such a blanket statement as I did before. Also, are those not roaming maps? Wouldn’t that mean that these are not the main systems of the companies listed? Correct me if I’m wrong, but the major companies use the GSM network as roaming systems only, otherwise in the normal coverage area, they use their main systems. After a few minutes and google, I found this tid-bit about major companies and the system(s) they use: AT&T: amps, tdma & gsm Nextel: iDen Cingular: gsm & tdma T-mo: gsm sprint: cdma verizon: cdma alltel: cdma us cellular: cdma Canada: fido/microcell: gsm telus: cdma, amps bell: cdma, amps rogers att: tdma, amps, gsm also found this bit of info on SAR, Cellular Telephone Specific Absorption Rate , for different makes and models of phones: http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/sar/ Personally, I have had both GSM and CDMA phones, and must say that from my experience, CDMA seems to be better. Unfortunately for me though, I just dropped Sprint because of their god-awful customer service, and FU attitude. I went with T-mobile, and have already noticed significant shortcomings in their network. BAH, just cant win it seems. a late edit....just found this and thought it was a good read: http://www.mcw.edu/gcrc/cop/cell-phone-health-FAQ/toc.html

getting emails w/viruses from users on this site
Sparky replied to David K's topic in Non Tech Board
I got five last night spoofed from user on this site, 240.org, and zcar.com. also several bounced messages coming back saying I was sending them. Norton says everything is A-ok, but will run scan again tonight. -
