  1. Well that sucks Austin, Sorry to hear about your crash, it tis a shame as I had always admired your car because of its cleanliness. at least nothing mechanical has been damaged, if it would have been a more direct front or rear impact you could have either damage the intercooler or engine, or lost the car completely due to a fire(or somebody could have been hurt). hope you find another Z car to work on soon! actually.... Doesn't a member have a 74 260Z for sale?

    A Sexy CRX?!?!

wow that was creepy, for a minture there I thought I was looking at my Ex (girlfriend, not the car) gave me the willys!
  3. two years ago I saw these pictures, and its F'd me up ever since... enjoy! http://www.worldzone.net/sports/300z/crash.html and some more, just in case that doesnt do it. the only thing is, is that the following pages require you to search through them, and are Not Safe for Work viewing! http://www.worldofgore.com http://www.geocities.com/carcrasherus/ ugh, a google search for gory crash pictures will bring up just about anything you want, ohhhhh I thought I had a strong stomach, but after searching through all that... I was wrong.....
  4. I also second that comment. Ive been a member of BMW, Plymouth, Pontiac and Porsche message boards, and nothing compares to the overall knowledge + willingness to help that I have witnessed here. I use to post on Zcar.com everyday, and always check out and try to help others when I could, but the amount of misinformation and rudeness that comes from some of those people is amazing. I first started posting here a couple of years ago after a couple of years of lurking, when I finally did post a thought or question it was always answered with constructive thoughts or criticisms and 99% of the time, an overall better solution. just recently I put a call out for help in Sacramento and sure enough, the next day I had somebody that didn't know anything about me volunteer to check out a 240Z thats for sale in that area. (thanks again Z-Dreamer!, I owe you one!) what a family we have here... anywho, This is indeed my home away from home, and although I have not posted a technical question since my car went to paint (22 months ago)I feel that I can still post random questions I might have about school or any other topic, and still get a honest, informative, educated response. So a big thanks to everyone for putting up with my sometimes bi-polar crap, and I promise that I will get my zcar back soon and really start to contribute to this site once again.
  5. The new site looks great and is sooo easy to use! I really like the random photo feature that it shows to the left. Unfortunatly I have yet to be able to try any of the features out, but I will let you know how it goes when I do. Thanks for putting so much work and effort into this new site, it surely is appreciated as onclickpix.com is the only photo editor and web storage I use, its nice to have a no BS site for once. keep up the good work!
  6. what would make my Z perfect for me... would be to get it out of the 1.7 year sentance its been serving in paint jail. -then it would be to install a vintage air monster AC system -programmable EFI -Leather and suede interior with colour matched stitching (actually half done on this) -Tokico illuminas -Giant brakes -18" gunmetal 3pc. Watanabes -install my Alum. radiator -tinted windows -lojack W killer alarm -super nice LCD screen that controls the nice (but subtle) stereo and Displays all of the engines vitals -a climate controlled garage for year round storage -Monterey California climate, with San Antonio Prices -My girlfriend in the passenger seat holding a sack with dollar signs on it as we travel across the continent just wasting time taking photos of the worlds largest frying pan. -A trunk monkey ummm, and thats pretty much it. Ive already done the sound deadning and heat sheilding making the car surprisingly quiet and comfortable.
  7. I have found a marking on every Z car I have parted out, but each one is different. could this be a signature of a assembly line worker? or maybe not, my kanji isnt so good....
  8. yes he did repost, I changed all the info in my first post to fit with his new classified. I looked at the pictures again, and again. Im thinking that they are full custom. Nothing that MSA offers even comes close, and the subtle Z kit replaces the entire rear qtr with a nice bulge. but these are indeed very 911turbo looking. I wish I could see that car up close and get a good look at it. for 3.5K and it hasnt sold yet, there has to be something really wrong with it. just my opinion of course.
  9. wow, take a look at that intake ports! so smooth and straight. too bad the M5 is just a wee bit out of my price range, although, with the problems that they had with the new M3 engine, I would be a little hesitant to purchase the new M5 before I knew that the engine wasnt going to destroy itself in my first 5k miles of driving. thanks for the post, lots of technology in that bad boy.
  10. Hey gang, I might be back in the saddle again, but need a helping hand. I am looking at a car located in Sacramento/Eldorado California...its a 73 240Z thats forsale through a internet website. It looks to be Exactly what I am looking for, but seeing as how I am in Texas its a bit hard for me to inspect it before I plunck down my hard to come by cash money. I Know that I can trust everyone on this board to offer me thier honest opinion, and I know that we have some of the most knowledgable members on the face of the planet. To be able to use this resource would be a blessing. If one person, or a group would like to volunteer, I would be extreamly greatful. If i purchase the car, I will by you a beer or twenty when I get into town. (if, if, if) I would also be happy to do yard work, or random crap while im in town ( while your at it, can I get a place to stay as well? ) contact me, and I will try to set something up that will fit in with your available time. thanks in advance... PS, I will also be contacting members that are listed on the HybridZ helpers list....you know who you are if your between San Antonio and Sac!
  11. geez mike... you already have a couple, if he accepts your offer you should sell it to me. damn....I have 2800$ too, but I need it for school...... ...or do I?...... lol Its an addiction!
  12. here is the news article from that crash.... DAYTON | Doctors revived a man Sunday just hours after medics pronounced him dead on the scene of a car crash, police officials said. Dayton Police Sgt. Charles Hurley said Scott Tegtmeyer was walking in the intersection of Third Street and Edwin C. Moses Boulevard at 12:40 p.m. when a Chrysler PT Cruiser ran a red light, struck a Subaru sports utility vehicle and sent it into the air. The Subaru landed upside down on Tegtmeyer and dragged him several feet across the intersection, Hurley said. Tegtmeyer, bloodied and surrounded by shattered glass, was pronounced dead on the scene, but he suddenly started breathing while in transit with paramedics. By 3 p.m., doctors had fully resuscitated him. On Sunday evening, he was in the Miami Valley Hospital Intensive Care Unit. Neither of the female drivers of the vehicles involved were carrying passengers. The woman driving the Subaru was transported to Miami Valley Hospital. Information on the condition of the driver of the PT Cruiser was not available. Hurley said police talked to eight witnesses. He also said it is possible a camera mounted high above the intersection captured the crash. Dayton police reconstructionists, trained at putting clues together after crashes, were on the scene with digital cameras and measuring devices. The flipped Subaru showed noticeable crash damage on the left body panel. Ten yards away, the customized P.T. Cruiser with a 'AAA' sticker on the back of its tinted windows showed damage to its front end. just some time later, another accident at the same intersection: A 49-year-old woman was killed in a three-car crash Wednesday when another car hit the driver's door of her vehicle. Investigators were not releasing the woman's identity, until kin were notified. It was the second major Dayton crash in a week caused by a missed red light. The woman had been headed east on Stewart Street when the other driver, headed south on Patterson Boulevard, ran the red light at the intersection, Sgt. David Reed said. The car then hit a minivan, which went up onto the median. The driver, the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, Reed said. At least four people in the other vehicles went to area hospitals, Reed said. The driver of the car that ran the light is a diabetic, and police were investigating whether that affected his physical condition at the time of the crash, Reed said. Nine days earlier, a sport utility vehicle struck a pedestrian at Edwin C. Moses Boulevard and West Third Street, after a PT Cruiser ran a red light and hit the SUV. The SUV flipped twice, then hit Scott Tegtmeyer, 42, who remained in serious condition at Miami Valley Hospital on Wednesday. The driver has not been charged. That crash was captured by a red-light enforcement camera. Dayton police say the cameras, installed at a dozen intersections across the city, helped reduce injury crashes caused by ignored traffic signals by 28 percent during the past year. Contact Lou Grieco at 225-2057. seems to me that its one dangerous intersection.
  13. yeah, sucks dont it! What you must do is after you go through the first page, before you try and check the second page you must hit "refresh" on your browser in order to update the page your on(that means that somebody has posted yet another response that you have yet to see and it gets bumped to the first page, making all the info on the other pages wrong). scan through the first page again and then hit page "2"...... I dont post or check the board but once a week and its been doing that to me since the changover.
  14. These have to be the best looking rear flares I've seen in a long time. While im not usually a big fan of flares on an early Z....these are nice.. http://www.zcar.com/classifieds/pictures/ads/14894.jpg not a bad car either for 3.5K. somebody should jump on this one soon.... http://www.zcar.com/classifieds/index.php?method=showdetails&list=advertisement&rollid=14894&fromfromlist=classifiedscategory&fromfrommethod=showhtmllist&fromfromid=29&
  15. if its the car pictured, than I think its safe to say that that car has probably been drilled for five lug and is not running adapters. there is no way you could get that kind of offset under stock fenders running adapters. at least thats what I think.....
  16. where is that strut tower bar from? looking really really good....nice to see that that manifold came out looking good!
  17. I would be very interested in a sticker with the new logo and a clear background. I would also be interested in a white, or black T-shirt with the new logo, and maybe even a polo style shirt? its a great idea to spend what little money i have on hybridz.org clothes, instead of much need parts for my hybrid Z! ugh!
  18. I really miss the old classified forum, it was nice to be able to see what new adds have been posted when I clicked on the "view posts since last visit" since the classifieds have changed, I have not made any purchases, or tried to sell anything through hybridz.org. its a shame really, asim looking for another 240Z and would love to purchase one from the memebers here, but it seems to me that im not the only one that uses the classifieds area alot less than i used to. anywho...
  19. ...I was browsing the Fark photoshops and thought this one was the best, but you be the judge and take a look at the original thread... http://forums.fark.com/cgi/fark/comments.pl?IDLink=984992
  20. I always liked the old school VW bug racks that you used to see all the time. Just a simple piece of tubing bent to the same shape as the roof line, and simply attached to the rain gutters. it would be challenging thats for sure, but it certainly might look a bit more proper than the universal* Yakima stuff. probably a LOT cheaper as well. -S
  21. Why is that Dan? It is my understanding that There has never been a recorded catastrophic failure of LP refrigerants in automotive use. it is also my understanding that most Taxi cabs in Australia and Germany use some sort of Propane based refrigerant. I would think that If the system would suffer a leak of some sort, that it would be SO SO small and minute that the risk of ignition would be a 1 in a bazillion chance, and even if a large scale failure were to occur, that the small amount of LP (whatever that average system requirements are in ounces) would be nearly dissipated instantaneously. Is there some other reason as to why you would use this type of refrigerant?
  22. wow, twin turbo cudas make baby jesus cry. nice to see some clean hot rods thats for sure. I do kinda agree with the Cuda looking a little strange with what im assuming are 18"s in the front....and 22"s in the rear. I understand the oldschool rake look he was going for, but I think an over all better balance could have been achieved with 19s on the front, and 20s on the rear. regardless, I would love to get a close look at the 'Cuda. did anyone notice the sawed off broom stick holding the trunk open? you would think with upwards of 100K invested, they would atleast have really finished it off better ...oh... and if there is one thing Ive learned in all this... DO NOT speed in Northlake Texas.
  23. I polished mine and then clear coated it. Its a hell of alot of work, but well worth the effort IMHO. But of course, that much work for something that you dont really see is not for all people. I might try to post some picture later... -S
  24. I have a Yakima rack on my 240Z and its freeking huge. it really looks odd because the car is so small and low. it uses the a normal size raingutter arms. the only thing is because you have so little roof area, you have to play with the mounts to get it to sit right, and even then it looks funky, especially when luggin around snowboards! -S
