turboboost

I have a problem here. Back before winter I bought a 1979 280zx for 200 bucks.(Frame rails were good too) Unfortunatly, it didn't run at all. All winter long, I worked on it to get it running. About a week ago, I started it. My problem here is that the owner before me decided that the Z should be mufflerless, so he took an Oxy-acetelene torch to the pipe right before the axle, and cut the muffler off. It sounds amazing right now, but when I start it, it wakes the whole neighbourhood up, and I have people who complain to me about the sound it makes. I would like to do this as cheap and good as possible, so here is where your opinion/answers come into play: 1) Since he cut right after the axle, is it possible just to buy a different muffler and weld it up to the existing pipe? 2) If so, what muffler do you suggest for an unmoddified N/A? 3) What is the stock pipe diameter for a 79 N/A? 4) If not, what should I buy/do? 5) Keep in mind that I am on a slightly lower budget, so I don't really want to be buying a whole "Monza" exhaust kit, or have a shop custom make me one. Up here in Canada a non-rusty car only comes along every so often. So, we have to jump on it.

I have a subscription to it, and the Photography is actually amazing! That Z32 was super nice too.

Right now, its -52 with the windchill in Winnipeg.(Celcius) I'll post picks of how much snow my Z is under later. Thats -61 Degrees Fahrenheit with the windchill!

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I have seen that guys car before. As you may be able to tell by the liscence plate, that guy lives in Manitoba too. Pictures do not do that car justice.

I think Manitoba should be moved to Canada west. It is a much closer drive to alberta or saskatchewan, than to the main parts of Ontario.(ie Toronto etc)

I bought mine just before winter, and its still sitting. Im going to take it into the shop sometime next week.

I drove 7 kilometres to get my Z. If I were you though, I would pick up a rust free one.

I recently have been playing it quite a bit. I love the fact that they included at least one old Z. I think the tuning part is the part that makes the game so awesome. You might want to check out http://www.forzacentral.com for different settings and other tuning options. I dont have XBL, but I do have XBC if you want to work something out sometime.(Just PM) Im going to post a video of me drifting around in a 240z later on today, or tommorow, so I'll post a link in here.

How the hell did they get a wing off a fighter jet??? Very nice looking car though. Wing would be the first thing to go for me though.

No idea what kind of exhaust it is, but it sure sounds nice IMO. Theres also a PIT exhaust(never heard of it before) that sounds really nice on a 350z Or you could be like me and just run a pipe to the back of your car and wake up everyone withen 5 miles of you when you touch the throttle:D

My 280zx is unique in the fact that a) Canadian Winters do wonder for the body of this car Have a hole in my gas tank c) The only way it runs is by spraying gas into the intake;) d) It is on Jacks, sitting outside under 2 feet of snow e) Its white w/ Black Racing Stripes (sexy) ***Those are older pics BTW***
