  1. I'd reckon the Jeep would be fine for towing your Z. Just get a good trans-cooler kit, a temperature gauge and it will do what you want it to perfectly. Also make sure that the brakes are in tip-top condition every time you leave to go on a trip. Assuming your Z and your racing equipment weighs about 3400 lbs, you're still 1600 lbs below the tow rating, which is plenty of cushion. Those 4L Jeep motors are damn near bullet-proof, so I would not be too concerned about reliability. Just keep up with the maintenance, and I'd be willing to bet a 750 dollar Jeep goes a long way. Good luck!
  2. Excellent work, sure makes it easy when you can just flip the car over to get the underside though. Well done!
  3. Ditto. Everyone always seems to jump to the most complicated solutions first.
  4. Wow, congratulations! I'm sort of in the same boat as you were in, I still have no clue what I'm going to be doing.
  5. I reckon they are probably just a small LT tire.
  6. Wow, that car cleaned up amazing, the interior is so mint. Nice find for 500 bucks by the way, you could not have found a better deal than that.
  7. Sounds like you snapped a belt to me. I'd check that to start with. Perhaps the belt also flung and hit something to cause your clutch problems as well? Just thinking out loud here.
  8. Simply put, the odds of your lugs "snapping" due to the sheer torque of spinning the tires is almost zero.
  9. Almost looks like a Toyota 8" to me, but I don't think any Toyota trucks came with that low of gearing. The most common Toyota diff ratio is 4.1:1.
  10. That wouldn't take worn piston rings, leaking valves etc into play.
  11. I'm a lube tech by night, and a student by day. I also play volleyball quite competitively.
  12. Car looks fantastic, and I love your "Power fist" creeper. Princess Auto is my main source of tools as well.
  13. Did it have oil in it when you started it?..
  14. Make sure you're wearing a dust mask. I find after doing any significant amount of bodywork over a small period of time, my lungs get really sore if I'm not wearing a mask - I can't even imagine what it's doing in the long run. Car is turning out very nice though man. Regards, Derek
  15. I've only been pulled over once in my life thus far, and I can say that the guy who pulled me over was super good about the situation. He let me off with a "now don't be doing that again, or you'll be getting a ticket next time."
